Extensive Kitchen Remodel
Many years ago we constructed a large sunroom on the back of this house. When the time came to upgrade the kitchen the owners returned to us for the design and replacement. When the sunroom was added the uses of the existing rooms changed. The living room was converted to the dining room and the formal dining room saw little use. So, we expanded the kitchen into the old formal dining room which allowed for a kitchen to rival the sunroom, and complemented the open floor plan. With the extra space in the sunroom, extended family and friends had become accustom to gathering at this house for holidays and parties, but serving food was always a challenge. The hostess envisioned a large island separating the kitchen from the sunroom where she could spread food out buffet-style. This allowed guests easy -access to the food and she could still visit with the guests as she cooked. We designed this island (really more of a small continent) to fit nicely between the two existing structural columns. When not entertaining, the island is a great place to spread out the paperwork for the family business. The stove is the focal point of the kitchen. The hostess envisioned a stove and hood to rival anything she had seen in a magazine. The 48" Wolf gas range is surrounded by a Greenfield custom hood mantle, with a Florida Tile back-splash that features a pot-filler faucet. Whether you are cook or a guest, this is now a very comfortable space to relax in.
