The level of quality one gets from JB Homes is probably as good or a little better than their competition in the production housing market. My frustration was the lack of project management during the construction. Of all the issues which were pointed out during walk-thrus along the way, they didn't get addressed while things were progressing and had to be reworked when it wasn't convenient anymore. If I hadn't been on top of things daily, I believe things would have gotten covered up instead of being taken care of before things like insulation, sheetrock, cabinets, etc. were installed. Fortunately I had the time to stop by daily and check on progress and these items. Again, this was frustrating, but in the end it all came together.
We are in the middle of a build with Jeff Benton and have had a pleasant experience so far. There have been minor issues throughout the build (as there always are), but the team has tried to resolve each of them to our satisfaction.
Overall, I would not recommend this company based upon my experience up to now. It's been a nightmare since the day of closing. Prior to our closing, we had a final walk-through and a lot of the pre-closing (2 week) punch list items that was not completed. They had several issues that needed to be corrected. After closing and we obtained our keys, we came to our house with spilled paint on the garage floor, paint splatter on our woodwork, trim, carpet and floors. Mis-matched pant finish on the walls, trim and woodwork. Our kitchen island bar was not completed for the repairs with nail holes, poor trim and mis-matched paint. Our front door porch pilar was not installed correctly and had to be re-done. Broken windows sash, which been replaced at least twice, only to find out our entire window frame (3 bay) were installed incorrectly, now it needs to be removed and re-installed. Water drainage issues with the lawn and guttering down spouts. Tile issues in the master shower. HVAC issues now with thermostats problems and insufficient heating. A lot of these problems showed up, since we moved in. Granted the company has made repairs or corrections, but if the company had the time to properly complete this house and do a "quality check" to ensure a lot of these wouldn’t have showed up, I think our experience would have been better. Overall we felt that this house was rushed to completion, to get these lots off their current development of the area, so they can focus on developing their next group of homes elsewhere. In general if I knew that I would have been experiencing all of these problems up to now, I would have never bought a home such as this one from this company. I spoke with my neighbors, they didn’t have the issues like we have experienced. I would have been better off buying a good size lot and a new trailer than buying one of these homes. This is the feeling I am expressing. I really do not know if these issues will be fully resolved. I have wasted too much of my PTO to accommodate their repair teams to my home that I will never get back. So, NO… do not buy one of their homes.
Very impressed with the process and our build so far!
Patrick the construction supervisor was very, very receptive and accessible during the building process. I would give Patrick a high rating.
The warranty repairs are not being completed in a timely manner. It would be difficult for me to recommend someone right now.
Jeff Benton Homes is an established and well-respected quality home builder in this area. Our new home is going to be beautiful and we cannot wait to begin enjoying it!
The whole home building experience was amazing. We love our new Jeff Benton Home!
Jeff Benton Homes was fantastic at making the build process easy to understand and kept us informed through the entire process. They helped us be involved throughout the process and continually adjusted their schedule to meet ours. We love our home and feel very appreciative of Jeff Benton Homes and his team. Thank you very much!
Well known name and good quality home with good quality people.
I cannot recommend with a clear conscious, due to lack of over sight and supervision of the trades. It was poor craftsmanship, and poor quality control.
There is still a lot of outstanding warranty issues. There were a lot of issues that needed addressing. The designer was new and wasn't super knowledgable about everything. We weren't always updated quickly. We had to do a lot of our own inquiries.
First the neighborhood itself is really well organized and layed out. The open areas are very nice and uncommon among other new housing developments. In general, the materials used are not the cheapest available nor does the house look cheap. It was a pleasure working with the construction Superintendent. (Bill)
While Jeff Benton Homes provides decent craftsmanship, they did not live up to the reputation we heard from multiple friends living in Jeff Benton homes. We heard them say on multiple occasions, " that didn't happen to our home". So either we got the lemon, or Jeff Benton's quality is dropping, not sure which. As someone who has built 2 homes prior, with one of them being better and one being worse, Jeff Benton homes provides decent value with superb organization and good communication. Anyone looking to buy or build a Jeff Benton home needs to understand that no home is built perfectly, and if you decide to build with Jeff Benton (or any builder for that matter), you must stay on top of the build daily to ensure you get what you want. Also you must be willing to stand your ground to ensure you get it done right. On the positive side they provide a much better warranty team and response than most, so most issues can be resolved as long as you stay on top of getting things fixed.
Fairly easy process, workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. HVAC design is poor. Outside looks good.
We really like quality of Jeff Benton Homes and the community we live in.
I would say the company has a great model for doing business with customers. Very customer friendly and it's a great experience. I think from a quality standpoint the experience, the process, the building itself, and the home it results in, it is an incredibly wonderful experience.
We love the area. We love the home. We couldn’t be more pleased!
It was a great process and a great end result. He builds a good home for a great price.
We likely would in the end based mostly on the house designs, the lot and neighborhood choices, and cost. However, we would warn them about the design studio and tell them if they have a time constraint, or are detail oriented like us for for finishes to be vigilant.
The whole experience has been pleasant and well thought out. We are very satisfied with the process, the quality of construction, and the finished product.
Jeff Benton builds a quality home, but the best part is the service after closing! They have been very responsive to problems that have arisen.
Jeff Benton and his team provide high quality results with friendly customer service.
I have recommended Jeff Benton Homes to many friends and one has even purchased one!
They are the best people I have ever worked with and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a home.
GuildQuality partners with it's member companies to survey their customers and collect detailed feedback on their behalf. By administrating surveys as an unbiased third party we ensure that customers have the oppurtunity to express their true feelings about a project and that members get the most accurate and detailed feedback possible.
When a survey contains the "Review" question, that customer's answer will show up on the member's profile page as a public review. Members have the option to turn off reviews but cannot hide individual reviews. It's all or nothing. This means that any reviews you see on a GuildQuality profile page are real comments left by the customer and verified by GuildQuality.
Each item listed under "Customer satisfaction" represents a specific question asked by GuildQuality to customers of Jeff Benton Homes as part of our survey process. The bar graph and percentage next to the question stand for the percentage of respondents that were "Satisfied" about that particular question.
A customer is considered satisfied about about a question if they answered with 4 or more stars out of 5. For example if the "Communication" question is at 95% satisfaction that means that 95% of survey respondents answered that question with 4 or more stars out of 5 possible stars.More about surveys
