They did an excellent job of keeping us aware of expenses which was very important to us. Everyone’s customer service skills were impeccable. Our only area of dissatisfaction was not their fault. We chose to be away while the roofing was done and weren’t there to see that what looked like the desired charcoal grey up close, looked more black on the roof. It was a great experience and we would hire Red House again without reservation. The workmanship was beautiful and the 3 year follow up is unparalleled.

RedHouse was an end-to-end partner in my home renovation, from design planning to execution and polish. Their craft is unrivaled and they have a great team. They gave me a timeline and stuck to it. I love the results, my beautiful kitchen, laundry area, and backyard deck. They took the time to do the project right, with discovery and implementation of vital reinforcements to my historic home that will stand the test of time. I’ve already recommended RH to several friends and coworkers. I am lucky to have found them and would work with them again.

We have had several other home projects and contractors in the past, including similarly large projects. Things will always go wrong or awry- late or broken product deliveries, schedule mishaps, unforeseen building complications. At no time did we fear our job would not be completed to our 100% satisfaction. Clean - Red House left the job site - inside and outside - extremely clean on a daily basis. It's admirable! One could feel the pride that went into their work and this included the daily end-of-day cleanup.

Red House makes it quite easy for the client to communicate with the team assigned to your project by either sending messages via BuilderTrend, emailing directly (which also ends up in BT), texting or calling. All options were acceptable! Although they held weekly onsite meetings with me, if I had a question from either something I saw onsite or read in the BuilderTrend app/Daily Log the Construction Lead would post, I would have an answer either the same day or the next day depending on when I sent the question. (I would often review the Daily Log submissions in the evenings after my work day.) The onsite team was also very approachable, and open, kind and professional to answering questions that I might have while I was onsite -even if it wasn't at the weekly meeting!

Schedule - The timeline discussed was not only met, the team finished several days before. They even encountered a few rain delays at the beginning of the project due to Spring rains. This is quite the accomplishment when one considers the logistics of timing ALL project efforts accordingly so their are no delays due to supplies, permits, inspections, etc.!

Moving forward with Red House was the best decision that we made with a major renovation! From the initial phone call to learn more about the scope of the project, we felt at ease with their experience, professionalism and attention to detail. Living under construction in the heart of winter with 1/2 the roof exposed and countless sun contractors in/around the site for 3 months was daunting, but our site supervisor, Kevin Manning coordinated the perfect flow of personnel on site, each one respecting that a family is living through these conditions and to treat the family as such.
The craftsmanship of the work is impressive and will be admired for all to see and confidently refer them to Redhouse for their own projects.

Clean - We greatly appreciated the care and respect taken to clean the areas that were worked on throughout the construction process. Inside and out of the home. From sweeping up behind them to painting over marks on the walls, trim and ceiling at the end showed how much Redhouse cared about not just the project itself, but the rest of the house that is in its pathway during construction.

Communication - Between the use of an App to keep everyone on the same page, and having the same PM there everyday to give updates in person, we were NEVER left wondering what was going on, when xyz would be done, where we were at with payments...it was all very clear.

Schedule - They stuck to the schedule with astonishing accuracy. I mean, 1/4 of our 100 year old house was getting torn up, we expected some curveballs and set backs...but there were none. It was finished within a day or two of the plan. That’s record-setting!

Value - I think that in this case, as with anything, you get what you pay for. That being said, RH is not the cheapest company you can choose. However, when considering the above (5 stars for professionalism, quality, punctuality, workmanship, materials, communication...) it’s clear you get what you pay for. I believe it’s worth it. Projects done on time, on budget, with flawless execution done by polite, competent, professionals, and personal touches...you won’t find these line items on the contract, but RH delivers nonetheless.

He really wanted to help our 6 person family fit more comfortably and efficiently in our 100 year old home so we wouldn’t have to uproot our young kids and move. Nowhere else, ever, have we received that kind of personal attention and customer service. Ever. We are truly grateful.

The initial meeting left me feeling optimistic that I had finally found a contractor who had a process that offered more transparency in how their quote is established and therefore would reduce the risk of hidden costs. Unfortunately this was not the case. After multiple emails, phone calls and in-person meetings we had essentially established our budget and selected our materials. A few days later I received a call informing me that my construction contract would be 20% higher than the budgeted level that had been discussed for weeks. The explanation was that the labor involved with our materials selections was not accounted for correctly. Again, our material choices had been part of our discussions for weeks - these were not last minute changes. Now nearly two months into the process, I reluctantly agreed to modify my choices to get back to my budget level, only to be surprised at the end with another bill suggesting that I had exceeded my "Allowances" in the contract. Once again, my selections were established prior to finalizing the contract so it seems the "Allowances" in the contract were not sufficient to cover the actual work. The overall process was very disappointing. As far as quality of work completed: tile work was exceptional (subcontractor); plumbing was exceptional (subcontractor); trim work & closet door installation was below average (Employee); and design process was disorganized and possibly the reason for some of the miscommunication issues outlined above.

RH took ownership of the problem and got it fixed, at no charge, without even flinching.

Clean & Safe - A barrier was constructed upstairs to keep our young kids and cat out of the work area, and, the entire area was cleaned every day. I never found even one piece of old plaster anywhere in the house or even around the dumpster. It was spotless.

And even though we knew our project certainly wasn’t the biggest, most prestigious, or most profitable project, we were treated the same (I believe) as if it was, and never made to feel like we weren’t worth the time. Some contractors couldn’t even give us the couresty of a call back, or wanted us to spend more than we were comfortable with to make it “worth their while to drive all the way out there” but not Red House. Justin was very respectful of the fact that while our budget was not large by comparison to other jobs, it was quite a lot of money for us. I felt he took a genuine interest in helping us solve our problem, and that’s why, ultimately, we chose Red House.
