We have been extremely happy with our experience so far. From the very beginning, we emphasized the importance of responsive communications, and RH has been exemplary in meeting those expectations. In addition, Marianne and Kathy's knowledge and expertise has given us confidence that the end result will meet our needs and look beautiful. They have also been excellent at guiding us in our decisions, without making those decisions for us. Nick communicates in a really clear, concise, and professional manner. And it is clear that Justin leads RH with values of respect, care, and excellence. We appreciate everyone's hard work on what we recognize is a big project with ambitious deadlines.
First, Justin was amazing... both listening to us and getting the design just right. Also always available and addressed any concern right away. Also, our lead carpenter Bob just became part of the family...great communication and very tidy and helpful to us at certain points.
The work is just superb! We love the outcome which met and exceeded our expectations. And though a few things left to finish they met the deadline and we were able to entertain family as hoped for according to schedule! They team really listened to us and gave us the room and kitchen we envisioned. That is rare in my experience. Also, we were coached along as to each section of the work, which was helpful to us as we had never done this type of thing before.

We are absolutely in love with the transformation Red House completed in our home. The quality and standard of service is and has been top notch from the day they started working to the day of completion. Justin and his team listened to our needs and adjusted accordingly throughout the process if needed. Tim Hiller was our project manager and always addressed any questions or concerns we had immediately. Dave and Bob were wonderful from the start of construction to completion. They were always detailed oriented and would clean after each days work. That was definitely a plus with a house with 4 kids. Thank you Red House! We look forward to worker with them in the future.
The house was usually cleaner at the end of the day than the beginning-by that I mean, even the kids’ breakfast cereal that was dropped on the floor was vacuumed up before I could get to it! It far exceeded our expectations.
Between the use of an App to keep everyone on the same page, and having the same PM there everyday to give updates in person, we were NEVER left wondering what was going on, when xyz would be done, where we were at with payments...it was all very clear.
They stuck to the schedule with astonishing accuracy. I mean, 1/4 of our 100 year old house was getting torn up, we expected some curveballs and set backs...but there were none. It was finished within a day or two of the plan. That’s record-setting!
I think that in this case, as with anything, you get what you pay for. That being said, RH is not the cheapest company you can choose. However, when considering the above (5 stars for professionalism, quality, punctuality, workmanship, materials, communication...) it’s clear you get what you pay for. I believe it’s worth it. Projects done on time, on budget, with flawless execution done by polite, competent, professionals, and personal touches...you won’t find these line items on the contract, but RH delivers nonetheless.
The level of interest that Justin had in our project, our needs, and our family was really unexpected and, honestly, what sold us on RH. He really wanted to help our 6 person family fit more comfortably and efficiently in our 100 year old home so we wouldn’t have to uproot our young kids and move. Nowhere else, ever, have we received that kind of personal attention and customer service. Ever. We are truly grateful.
The initial meeting left me feeling optimistic that I had finally found a contractor who had a process that offered more transparency in how their quote is established and therefore would reduce the risk of hidden costs. Unfortunately this was not the case. After multiple emails, phone calls and in-person meetings we had essentially established our budget and selected our materials. A few days later I received a call informing me that my construction contract would be 20% higher than the budgeted level that had been discussed for weeks. The explanation was that the labor involved with our materials selections was not accounted for correctly. Again, our material choices had been part of our discussions for weeks - these were not last minute changes. Now nearly two months into the process, I reluctantly agreed to modify my choices to get back to my budget level, only to be surprised at the end with another bill suggesting that I had exceeded my "Allowances" in the contract. Once again, my selections were established prior to finalizing the contract so it seems the "Allowances" in the contract were not sufficient to cover the actual work. The overall process was very disappointing. As far as quality of work completed: tile work was exceptional (subcontractor); plumbing was exceptional (subcontractor); trim work & closet door installation was below average (Employee); and design process was disorganized and possibly the reason for some of the miscommunication issues outlined above.

The kitchen was very beautifully designed within the footprint of the original 1895 space. Elevating the ceiling (which had been lowered in intervening renovations), installing quarter hewn oak flooring to match adjacent rooms, installing ceramic farm apron sink, all added to a renewed and restored feeling. The team did a great job, from Lynn Shore (Designer) working tirelessly over the excruciating details of design to Dave Devine (Site Leader) coordinating the touching up of final details in finishing stages.
I have to say I greatly appreciate the deep commitment to client satisfaction. From Brittney calling to follow up at the start of the process, to multiple design versions with Lynn, to Justin coming out personally, to view and review, to the last follow-through for a replacement for a glider that didn’t work properly, the team were very conscientious. Dave Devine was always very considerate of our time and space. He is also very respectful and considerate of his subcontractors which I appreciate, as well.
Interacting with the employees and contractors! Everyone was kind, courteous , professional, and helpful. When we found a small error in the build (drain pipe pointed at an outlet, rather than directed under the decking), they came out right away to fix before a rainstorm came through and did an excellent job!
Red House did a wonderful job and I am very satisfied with the result! As mentioned, we ran into some challenges with the landscaping due to the late season, but that wasn't entirely Red House's fault and they did a great job communicating what challenges we might face and organizing with a very busy landscaper to come out and get everything done. We're so happy with our new backyard and decking, it's so much easier to use and safer for our 3yo son. Looking forward to enjoying it in the spring!

Excellent communications and the work crew were pleasant and professional.
When the painter flaked out and didn’t show, our Lead Carpenter picked up a brush and got to work on the finishing touches. No excuses, no finger pointing, just action and results. Very professional. There was an oversight regarding the heat registers-they needed work that was not included in the contract. RH took ownership of the problem and got it fixed, at no charge, without even flinching.
A barrier was constructed upstairs to keep our young kids and cat out of the work area, and, the entire area was cleaned every day. I never found even one piece of old plaster anywhere in the house or even around the dumpster. It was spotless.
Justin (the owner) is not your typical “contractor.” His, and his entire staff’s, professionalism exceeds expectations in every way. And even though we knew our project certainly wasn’t the biggest, most prestigious, or most profitable project, we were treated the same (I believe) as if it was, and never made to feel like we weren’t worth the time. Some contractors couldn’t even give us the couresty of a call back, or wanted us to spend more than we were comfortable with to make it “worth their while to drive all the way out there” but not Red House. Justin was very respectful of the fact that while our budget was not large by comparison to other jobs, it was quite a lot of money for us. I felt he took a genuine interest in helping us solve our problem, and that’s why, ultimately, we chose Red House.
Every part of the experience was satisfying. Maybe not writing the checks (that always hurts doesn’t it?) but the result was worth it.

Red House had a major task with our project. We were closing on our house and during the inspection major roof damage was discovered with cause mold and rot. Red House understood our time constraints and the effect it had on two families, mine and the new owners of this home. The project manager assigned was professional, honest and communicative. I would recommend Red House to anyone.
