Given the entire experience I would not recommend this company
From start to finish it was a very smooth process. All of the people we worked with were very knowledgeable, helpful and positive. An all around great experience!
Love my new home.. Great experience throughout the whole process..
Nilson homes doesn't allow of customizing which is why I gave them four stars.
The quality of homes they build and the attention to detail is excellent
Nilson Homes customer service is excellent. The quality of their homes are very good as well.
I have sold multiple Nilson homes to my buyers, and now building with Nilson myself.
I have loved the experience thus far, they have thought through so much of the process and care genuinely enough to listen and hear what you want and they want to provide that for you as a buyer. We strongly recommend them as a builder, their work sites are clean and maintained correctly as if it is their own home.
The timing took way too long, it should not take 12 months to build a house.
Actually have already recommended to a few
I have already recommend Nilson Homes to a friend.
Improvement Suggestion: Agent - Chad is amazing! We have loved working with him.
This is the second home that we have done with them and their quality is great!
We had a custom open staircase installed. They did install the railing we chose. However, because of a Utah housing regulation, they had to do the railing in a weird way that just looks bad. We did not know about this regulation at all until the railing had been installed. If I had known about it, I would not have chosen it. If they had notified us of this issue before starting the work on the railing, I would have given them a 5-star rating.
So far so good. But just getting started
Thus far the process has been pretty straight forward. If I were to recommend to a friend I would tell them to really do the research and ask a lot of questions about everything even if its small.
Dustin Morgan help us with all of our desires. We felt at ease working with Dustin.
Salesperson Accessibility - He has always been responsive and available for all our needs.
There would be no way to fit every bad interaction with Nilson into a review. We do not recommend anyone using Nilson to build a home. The majority of our neighbors are also very dissatisfied with Nilson (read the reviews!) The attention to detail is AWFUL and quality control is non existent. We had windows in our basement that were, front to back, 1.5 inch difference in height. Tile work is just AWFUL. Cabinetry work is AWFUL. If you challenge how something is in your home, you'll be told "that's the way it's supposed to be" or "it's up to industry standard". Within 2 months of moving into our home, our driveway starting crumbling. Nilson doesn't cover this under their warranty and will not do anything about it. Nilson homes doesn't actually care about the quality of the home they build for you. It's clearly about the money. Items that needed to be attended to before closing are still not completely taken care of and we closed in July. The design center process is ridiculous. Major decisions have to be made in 2 short meetings with the third to sign off on those decisions. Other builders in the area have on their website the options they offer so that you can have time to really think through your decisions. Nilson doesn't offer this. They don't even offer computer generated examples of what your choices will look like on/in your home. It's hard to determine what something on a 2 inch sample board will look like on/in a house. We are extremely disappointed in the quality and workmanship in a very expensive home. Again, Nilson only cares about the money and will not address your issues. Would not recommend anyone build with Nilson.
They are really good upfront, but when you get into things it is not good.
I am very satisfied with the product and people I have worked with. Everyone has gone above and beyond to please me!
As far as Kurt is concerned, yes. But as far as using their title company 2 stars
Nilson Homes are beautiful homes. It is so comfortable here we love it and everything about it, but our fence. I'm sure it will be fixed, so I'm going to be patient.
The person that we've been dealing with, Matt Hatch, has been very professional, very open, and very easy to work with.
I would never recommend working with Nilsson Homes. They couldn’t care less about the quality of the home, all they intend to do is build the homes as fast as they can. They’re subs are unresponsive and contend everything you ask to be fixed. Don’t ask for any modifications because they absolutely will not do anything custom for your home so don’t even bother asking. I had to come by my house every day to make sure things were being done correctly because the superintendent only came through once a week for half a day. They pay low dollar for the cheapest subcontractors......I had problems beginning with the foundation. Crappy concrete work that had to be repaired within a week, the concrete started to crack after a day and the foundation was square on the front of the house which Nilsson homes went on to tell me that it’s build to industry standards. I cannot emphasize enough......never build with Nilson Homes.
Additional Comments - Mike did an awesome job as superintendent.
Salesperson Accessibility - Always answered my questions promptly, awesome to work with no matter how much we bugged him.
Decision Making Factors - Price, style, and location.
Decision Making Factors - An important factor was being able to create a home that we felt was ours and not a spec home. We got to select and choose things in the design process with Nilson Homes more than other builders. The location of this community was a big deciding factor as well.
I'm a real estate agent, as well, so I have a total of twenty one buyers with Nilson Homes because I loved them so much.
Salesperson Accessibility - Laurie Johnson has been a 100% great to work with. She's very resposive, respectful, and very conscious of time.
Salesperson Knowledge - Laurie Johnson goes above and beyod for my clients and myself.
Loan Application Process - Covid 19 created delays and different obstacles. I'm self employed and that has it's own problems. They have amazing options.
Improvement Suggestion: Agent - Laurie Johnson did amazing. She's been perfec. I've been very excited to bring my buyers to her because of her wealth of information and her calm and comfortable explanations. You could tell she does this for a living and not new to it.
Decision Making Factors - Nilson Homes communication is what made me deice to build with them. The communication that they give myself and my clients is very important. It's very important to see that they do communicate regularly. Myself being a buyer as well and also my clients being involved. They have a product called a builder trend. It helps keep them updated on the building process. Their communication is what I liked the most.
We love the home and the neighborhood.
We had a lot of headache with the carpet. It never got fixed and I had to pay to get it fixed myself.
Heidi has been absolutely amazing!! Buying a new home was such a scary thing for me! Heidi was patient with me and answered all my questions. And when I was to the final day of signing or not, she 100% encouraged me to only do it if really felt right, and if not, not to purchase. I loved her support !
Absolutely not. I would not wish my experience upon anybody else with Nilson Homes. You can bring up concerns with their whole contract and building process. Your concerns really never get addressed. It seemed like they were good to get ahold of, they would pick up their phones and answer your phone calls before you were locked into a contract, and through the design process. Then, once the construction of the home started, they were very unresponsive; any concerns that were brought up were pretty much ignored, deflected, or you were told that "that's how we do it, this is how it is, it's normal, it's fine," which I don't think is right. I've been in the construction industry, and I have experience with concrete, framing, and finishes, and their quality definitely is subpar. All of my concrete in my basement spalled. All of the top popped off because they poured it in the winter and didn't protect it the first night, so it obviously froze at some point, and the top completely came off. I wanted them to buff it down and refinish the floor, so it was professional, and all they offered was a patch job. They spread a leveling compound across the floor and patched it, which when you are building a brand new $400,000.00 house, that is unacceptable, in my opinion. We shouldn't get a patch job on brand new concrete in the basement of a home. That was extremely frustrating. There are several things like that happened, and if they don't get nailed to the wall with it, it's out of sight out of mind for them; they don't address those issues, and they do whatever is the cheapest to fix the issue and move on. That was extremely frustrating with the type of money that was being spent. I may have met with the superintendent twice during the entire home building process. The didn't want to come out, didn't want to meet on-site, didn't want to go over concerns. In this neighborhood, in my subdivision, I've probably talked to five or six other homeowners that have had the same subpar experience with Nilson Homes. They are very unresponsive, and I think the contract was built more in Nilson Homes favor, not the homeowner's favor, which is again unfortunate.
I would LOVE to be able to recommend Nilson homes. There are several of my friends in the same situation - needing a retirement home. However the rigidity of Nilson to listen to what we at 65+ want in a home was very offputting. The girl at the design studio said multiple times, if it was my home... WELL IT ISNT. And If I want dark grout - after building 7 hours, I know what grout I like, I dont need some 30+ telling me that is not the trend. I am building my forever home and not a trending home! I STRONGLY FEEL WITH A COUPLE OF MINDFUL CHANGES (MINOR) YOU WOULD HAVE MORE BUSINESS FROM THE RETIREMENT GROUP OF FOLKS.
We have been very happy with our experience.
Improvement Suggestion: Agent - There is nothing more she could have done better she has gone above and beyond already she is very friendly and answered any questions I've had.
Decision Making Factors - The standard options that come with the home.
attitude of upper management is 'we did what we were required to do by the contract' they do not care for customer satisfaction as much as saving a buck to line their pockets. several issues would have been easily resolved prior to close and they just let them slide and we didn't know about it until the final walkthrough then they wouldn't do anything about it based on their excuse listed above.
This is a four not because of Kurt but of some other experiences we had at the beginning at communicating what we wanted in our home
At this point after seeing the finished product I would not recommend Nilson to a friend or coworker. We will see what happens after we ask Nilson to fix the issues we have found.
We are really pleased with working with Nilson Homes. They accommodated all of our requests.
Improvement Suggestion: Agent - Holly and Jodi are awesome!
Lead Source(s) - I've known Jed for a quite awhile and my family has built with them six times. I have been to parade of home in the past and I have friends that have used them as well. That says a lot about the company and Jed.
I am very happy with my home!
Our home is beautiful, overall. However, there are so many small issues needing attention that it's hard to recommend this builder.
Melvin was great.
We would recommend Nilson Homes to anyone looking to build. You have by far exceeded our expectations throughout the building process to the high quality of the home.
Nilson has misleading advertising and many unspoken policies that affect the choices of homebuilders.
Additional Comments - Nilson homes has been in the business for a long time. Your experience and commitment to process and quality improvement shows. We are very happy with our new home and the journey of building it. Thank you!
Decision Making Factors - The factors that were most important to me were quality and cost.
Additional Comments - The experience has been great so far and I hope it continues this way.
We have referred friends who have all had issues with their homes
Do not buy Nilson Homes. They do not give what you ask for and their products are lousy. They are slow at responding and do lousy jobs. The workers do not agree with the homeowners, instead, they listen to their bosses. The companies that work with Nilson Homes are not well versed in the products they use. Whoever checks the homes needs to get more educated. My house was left dirty.
GuildQuality partners with it's member companies to survey their customers and collect detailed feedback on their behalf. By administrating surveys as an unbiased third party we ensure that customers have the oppurtunity to express their true feelings about a project and that members get the most accurate and detailed feedback possible.
When a survey contains the "Review" question, that customer's answer will show up on the member's profile page as a public review. Members have the option to turn off reviews but cannot hide individual reviews. It's all or nothing. This means that any reviews you see on a GuildQuality profile page are real comments left by the customer and verified by GuildQuality.
Each item listed under "Customer satisfaction" represents a specific question asked by GuildQuality to customers of Nilson Homes as part of our survey process. The bar graph and percentage next to the question stand for the percentage of respondents that were "Satisfied" about that particular question.
A customer is considered satisfied about about a question if they answered with 4 or more stars out of 5. For example if the "Communication" question is at 95% satisfaction that means that 95% of survey respondents answered that question with 4 or more stars out of 5 possible stars.More about surveys
