Customer service wasn't to satisfaction
My experience with building with Murphy was not a good one.
Although we do love our home, we have experienced numerous communication fails with the builder and his employees. After closing nearly five months ago there are still items on our closing agreement that have not been completed. Also, we have already experienced complications with our master shower having a major water leak and the quality of work after it being "fixed" is horribly poor.
Charlie and his staff are fantastic. I’ve heard horror stories about people having home built and it made us weary about it, as this is our first. The folks at Murphy we’re the absolute best part of our build. They took excellent care of us and made sure we were happy. I recommend them to everyone I meet.
It takes a lot to get something finished.
I have had 3 co-workers come and look at Murphy Homes. One has reserved their lot and will begin building soon!
Murphy Homes does not deliver on what they promise. Pool, cabana, and playground were promised several years ago and they still have not been built. Houses are almost never complete at closing.
I've asked several times for someone to come out and look at a problem. No one has shown yet. The response I get is that they are working on a different road. Why don't they come to mine for a while?
Working with Murphy Homes was not a very pleasant experience. We hope their build quality is as good as people say. Regarding exterior finishing: the quality of workmanship is extremely poor. Everything that they use is cheap (for a so called premium home): cheap trimwork/woodwork, cheap electrical fixtures, cheap doors, cheap workmanship overall. We hope the construction and the overall structural health of the house is not as bad as some of the material that they use to finish their homes. They do no like to work with customers on inadequacies that are pointed out. The understanding that the customer is only asking for value for their money is highly lacking. You are only requesting a better finished product - not additional features. They assume you will just buy their homes irrespective, which is what we did unfortunately since we were tired of this process. A few positive notes: the neighborhood was good for us, they did agree to a few additional things we requested, a few people are nice to work with - talk to but the attitudes and moods swing depending on the day. Also, they may get some of your issues addressed in next three years if you constantly pester them and if they don't hate you as much once you are done with the process. We definitely expected better service, better quality, better professionalism and certainly not any last minute cheap and inadequate fixes for our concerns. There are a few better builders out there that you may want to consider first.
Very happy with our new home
Every time something is "fixed" they break something else. It is like a never ending band aid of solutions to something that should have been done right the first time.
A couple of things on the punch list still have not been completed, and we closed a month ago.
It was a wild ride building our home, but overall we are ecstatic! Our home is gorgeous, well-built and exactly what we designed. We expected a few hiccups to happen along the way and Murphy never once had an issue with resolving our concerns. Constantly doing the right thing is what made the experience worthwhile for us. I would recommend them to anyone over any other builder in the area.
Murphy Homes is easy to work with.
Builder uses quality products and has a professional staff. Some of the sub vendors work and performance lacks quality. I.E. The concrete (entire foundation) throughout my home is not level. I've had my wood floors replaced several times within the first 5 months of moving in.
We chose Murphy Homes to build our home for the reputation they have for quality construction and the recommendation of our realtor, the price point, and the onsite realtor Stephen was very helpful in finding us the right floor plan and giving us information about Murphy Homes and was easy to work with. We had never built a home so we really didn't know what to expect but are very satisfied with our home. Once you pick out your floor plan and lot that you are going to build on you get to meet with Cindy who is the design coordinator. This is really fun and one thing that separates Murphy Homes from most builders. With Cindy's help you get to design your home from many different options, so you can customize your home the way you want and Cindy is very helpful and fun to work with. The build took about 6 months and was relatively easy, and any issues were resolved by the owner Charlie and the realtor Stephen. The service we received from Cindy, Stephen, Charlie, and the contractor Clay were fantastic. If you are looking for a quality custom home with a reasonable price point with great people to work with I highly recommend checking out Murphy Homes.
We have been in our home for a year now. We are still very happy with our home!
We are very happy with our Murphy Home, we have been in it a month. We thought Charlie did terrific job and we would recommend them.
Buying our murphy home was pretty simple and the people we talked to were kind and professional as a general rule. Overall, we love our house, but I have been slightly disappointed in my purchase. We did not build with Murphy. We bought a home that was already built. After buying it, we began noticing little things wrong...Nothing super major but it is enough to be quite frustrating considering the cost. I am aware, though, that if we had built, we could have had more say in everything.
We are very pleased and would use them again.
Excellent build quality and professional employees.
Murphy Homes is a very good home builder. Very responsive to our needs. All specific issues we alerted Murphy Homes to were addressed immediately. This was our third and final house to build and was the easiest process to build and finance. Cudo’s to National Bank of Commerce for the construction loan. Great teamwork between Murphy Homes and National Bank of Commerce. When building a house, you need to know what you want and Murphy Homes is very accommodating and resourceful.
We love the house layout and curb appeal. The details within the house are very nice. Love the stone work outside and inside with the fireplace. Murphy Homes has very good looking header details and dining room ceiling coffer details. Very nice built-in bookshelves in the office. Looking forward to using our screen porch and bar-b-que area in the backyard next spring.
GuildQuality partners with it's member companies to survey their customers and collect detailed feedback on their behalf. By administrating surveys as an unbiased third party we ensure that customers have the oppurtunity to express their true feelings about a project and that members get the most accurate and detailed feedback possible.
When a survey contains the "Review" question, that customer's answer will show up on the member's profile page as a public review. Members have the option to turn off reviews but cannot hide individual reviews. It's all or nothing. This means that any reviews you see on a GuildQuality profile page are real comments left by the customer and verified by GuildQuality.
Each item listed under "Customer satisfaction" represents a specific question asked by GuildQuality to customers of Murphy Homes as part of our survey process. The bar graph and percentage next to the question stand for the percentage of respondents that were "Satisfied" about that particular question.
A customer is considered satisfied about about a question if they answered with 4 or more stars out of 5. For example if the "Communication" question is at 95% satisfaction that means that 95% of survey respondents answered that question with 4 or more stars out of 5 possible stars.More about surveys
