Window replacement - how to maximize glass area
I'm replacing the 9 windows in our townhouse. They are 32"x62". The views are great, with lot of sunshine coming through. It makes the living room, kitchen, and guest room attractive. Replacement windows will result on loosing 1.25" of glass on each side, total of 2.5" lost glass on each window. A slim replacement window might cut that down to 2". One contractor and Lowes recommended new construction windows, only because of the way these windows are installed. Will using new construction windows, which cost $100. more each because of the extra labor involved, result in more glass area than using replacement windows?
