Master Bathroom Remodel

The homeowners never liked the tile back splash in their Master Bathroom ever since it was installed 4 years ago. The homeowner and I were talking one day about various upgrades to her home and she mentioned the back splash. I suggested we set up a meeting with one of our designers, Melita Issa of KMI Designs. As we train all of our designers to do, Melita works the Attention to Detail way, by listening and trying to understand the homeowners wants before giving them selections to pick from. We spoke to the homeowners and what would have taken them two or three weekends of shopping & decision making, Attention to Detail & KMI Designs achieved in 4 hours. Because the bathroom was fairly recently remodeled, we chose to keep a lot of the features it already had like the shower wall tile & bathtub. Our couple fell in love with the Tatami Interlocking sheets of rectified tile, from one of our Preferred Vendors - Renaissance Tile and Bath. We used this tile over the backsplash from vanity to ceiling as well as on the ceiling and floor of the shower giving it the home-like feel that they wanted. Lighting was the next challenge. The bathroom had recessed halogen lights with that were positioned so that they would cast a shadow while you were standing at the mirror. Our team removed all of the recessed lighting and installed newer Halo recessed cans with a softer light that we put on a dimmer. The placement was critical in the bathroom as to give general lighting but not to interfere with daily grooming. Attention to Detail's next solution was to install pendant lighting at the correct height to give an overall wash to the sink areas & to soften features and remove shadows. Then we put all the pendants on a dimmer for mood control. Special attention was also given to the placement of the new vessels and the length of the faucet arm as not to have any splashing when you first turn on the water. To tackle the homeowners' concerns for energy efficiency ATD installed a state of the art 96% efficient tanked water heater as well as a 93% efficient tankless as a backup to give them endless hot water for the frequent family visits, while still providing the highest energy savings possible. Attention to Detail was able to complete the other projects in the home at the same time however this bathroom turned out to be the room our homeowners loved the most.
