If it's paint grade, filling and sanding shouldn't be to hard to do. If it's a stain grade, it should be replaced. repairs on stainable wood always seems to stand out.

We're considering a pool in our back yard. What should we expect in terms of annual maintenance and associated costs?

I work with a lot of pool guys and also have a pool On an anual contract you should expect to pay 2500-3500 to open, close and maintain your pool for the year.
