Over the past several years, survey response rates have been steadily declining. A recent infographic from SurveyAnyplace states that the average survey response rate in 2018 is 33%. For email surveys, this percentage drops to 30%, and for phone surveys, it drops even further to 18%. A low response rate can give rise to sampling bias, so the higher the response rate, the more accurate the information.
How does GuildQuality compare?
Generally, our members enjoy a survey response rate of about 70%. Many are over 90%, and few are under 50%. That means that our rate is about two times higher than the industry average. This is a result of years of experience and a deep understanding of the five parameters that affect response rate (i.e survey purpose, experience, length, audience, and incentives).
One of the most important factors, in our opinion, is survey purpose. Data shows that when there is an introduction or explanation of a survey’s purpose, response rates can improve by 11%.
