Bear Mountain Custom Painting is an award-winning, family-owned residential painting and home improvement company serving the north Atlanta metro area for over ten years.

We are fully insured and offer high-quality professional results and excellent customer service. Our goal is to be your "Painter for life."

Our office is conveniently located in Cumming, Georgia.


Sonja is an owner of Bear Mountain Custom Painting and handles the office administration, finance and customer support side of our business. She is often the friendly voice that first greets our prospective clients.

Sonja takes personal ownership of our clients’ satisfaction and continually communicates with them, assuring that BMCP is meeting or, better yet, exceeding their expectations. Sonja is a member of the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America, North Georgia Women’s Group and the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce.

Sonja loves her job, especially interacting with clients and helping them with the details that make their projects come alive for them (she is a true HGTV addict), but she hasn’t always been in the painting and remodeling business.

Sonja graduated with a BS Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University and taught in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. She also worked at Owens-Corning’s building materials R&D facility in Granville, NC. Sonja was an active Big Sister in BB/BS of America and was founding Executive Director of BB/BS in Guernsey County, Ohio.


Rob is an owner of BMCP and handles the sales and field operations side of the business. He visits our perspective clients at their home and offers a thoughtful proposal to bring their project to life. In additional to sales, Rob leads the production side of our business … ensuring that what we promise gets done right and on time. He is a member of the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America, ASME and the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce.

Rob really likes seeing project plans turn into reality. Painting and construction is a natural extensive of his education. He has a BS Mechanical Engineering from Penn State and has worked in design of nuclear power plant systems. After receiving an MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University, he work in building material product research for Owens-Corning, designed computer systems for NCR and was a VP & General Manager over a division of General Electric. He was President and CEO of ZEKS Compressed Air Solutions, where he established an industrial equipment venture in China. Before establishing BMCP, he was President of Engineered Storage Products … a manufacturer of specialty-coated structures for the municipal water and agricultural industries.

Rob and Sonja have always enjoyed being active the community. They have been foster parents to 3 boys, volunteered at community food pantries, soup kitchens, and animal shelters. They have tutored illiterate adults in reading, been Big Brothers and Big Sisters, built homes with Habitat for Humanity, and scholastically mentored disadvantaged young students. They are very proud parents of their son Zachary and daughter Savannah.

At Bear Mountain Custom Painting, our goal is to protect and beautify your home with the right colors, appropriate paint products, researched “best practice” processes, knowledgeable painters and hallmark attention to detail. We strive to always deliver a complete, professional, enduring and trouble-free project to our clients.Bear Mountain Custom Painting believes that there are 4 essentials for producing a long-lasting and beautiful painting project:

-Thorough preparation, -Application of appropriate premium products, -Cleaning the painted surfaces every other year (at least), -Thoroughly inspecting the project & addressing issues on a regular basis.

Our thorough pre-painting “Implementation Success” process ensures that the project moves smoothly. We document of any client special needs or request, provide a surface-by-surface color & sheen schedule for client review and approval, clearly coordinate anything we need from the client, and provide a detailed preliminary invoice for client review and approval. We also prepare a detail work order package for the crew leader so that they are well-versed and prepared for the project. All of our Crew Leaders are ready to interact with you and provide excellent customer service.Weather is an important consideration and the project will be scheduled accordingly.

At Bear Mountain Custom Painting, our commitment is to paint or stain your home only inappropriate conditions. In addition to complying with manufacturer’s specification, we follow Bear Mountain Custom Painting’s own standards which are generally more conservative and safer for your home.
