TOOK OVER A YEAR !!! STILL NOT DONE. SPOKE WITH OWNER AND STILL JOB INCOMPLETED !!! WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ROOF A DOG HOUSE !!!
Do not, under any circumstances, hire Captial Home Improvement. The experience was a nightmare from start to finish. They don't call, they don't show up, and they always have excuses and lies after the missed appointments. The only time they reached out to me was on Friday afternoons at 4 pm asking for money. I suspect the owner, Paul, is only adept at turning the company's income into a vast empty bottle collection. Here's the story: I shopped roof estimates in the months of July and August. I got estimates from The Roofing Guys, Top Tier, Graves something, R&R, and these guys. These guys came in about $4k less than the others, and some of the others admitted outright they had no open appointments for months. Capital Home said they were available right away, and on September 2 came to my house, said they would fix my leak tomorrow once I signed the contract, and then be out on 9/15 to start the roof. I signed the contract, they put up their sign in my yard, and I didn't see anyone from the company for 48 hours. (Three neighbors came over right away when they saw the sign and warned me NOT to hire that company... should have listened). So I called and informed them that I signed the contract only with the understanding that they would immediately fix the one point of concern. Dude acted like he never heard of me and then promised to send a repair guy the next day (again). Saturday afternoon, a guy showed up and fixed the leak in a few minutes. The owner called me after and said they'd be there to start the roof mid September. Mid September came, the weather was beautiful. No roofers came. I called the company and asked when they'd be there, and the owner acted, again, like he never heard of me. Then he said they'd gotten behind and would be out in about a week. Then nothing, until a late September Friday afternoon at 3:58 pm....the owner called and asked me to release HALF the loan funds right away so that they could get started promptly at 8 am Monday morning. Two notes about this...1. the contract said $1000 was the amount needed to begin 2. I checked the weather forecast for the upcoming Monday morning, and found that it was expected to be rainy and windy. This jerk knew that (he'd used weather as an excuse before and was clear that roofers keep an eye on that sort of thing). So I called my loan company and said Do NOT release a dime to the roofers. Luckily, the loan company had worked with Capital Home before and was aware of their con game. Even better, they couldn't release the money because the roofer company had to update their records with the loan company. More weeks went by, the owner made no contact with me and set no schedule. I started calling the main number at least weekly to get scheduled. Paul called me back eventually on a Friday and tried to sound apologetic. He said "They'll be out first thing tomorrow and probably just work straight through the weekend to get it done". They didn't show up. I called Paul that Saturday at noon and angrily asked where they were. His response was "Lady, it's Saturday. We don't work on Saturdays" despite having sent workers on a Saturday before and promising me on a Friday that they would be out first thing "tomorrow". So that takes us into October. That was the month I called the company every 3 days asking when my roof would be done. October's adventures were essentially a repeat of September, except that Capital Home parked a giant dumpster right in my driveway so that I couldn't park or access my garage. Then, on Nov 2, the roofers finally came. The crew was small and young, but competent and professional. Due to their team size, it took about 3 weeks to complete the roof. It was clear the owner did not communicate with the foreman or team... they were not asked to look at the details that I had discussed with Paul (but they were nice and listened to me and ultimately addressed my concerns). During this time, I jealously watched the Roofing Guys roll up on house after house in my neighborhood each day; they take about 4 hours with their massive teams to entirely finish a roof, and then about 4 hours to clean and are gone. I regret not hiring the Roofing Guys, and now I understand what difference $4000 makes. Oh yeah, a day before my roof was done, Paul called the loan company and demanded full payment. Luckily loan officers have ethics, and they called me to ok the release. I did not give the ok until they were finished. My official rating of this company is that they deserve to go out of business, but I can highly recommend the Roofing Guys, Top Tier, Graves Brothers, or R&R roofing. Save yourself. Cancel your Capital Home contract immediately.
They told me that 3 new sheets of plywood were installed to replace damaged plywood. I went into the attic and could see that there were no new sheets of plywood. One of the original pieces of plywood was broken, but they just laid the new shingles over the broken piece. I still have not received the warranty after several follow up contacts.
I am very happy with the job they did, they were very prompt and clean. Paul needs to be better about reutrning phone calls. It took me almost a year and 4-5 calls to get my warranty. That became annoying. If he had of gotten to me sooner I would have sent him other jobs. I know he is busy and I think he is probably overworked. If you don't return phone calls you lose business.
I am very happy with the service. They gave me exactly what they said they were going to give me. The clean up could have been better. They worked until it was very dark so it would have been impossible to clean it up right. I am very pleased with the service.
I was pleased with the owner and how he was always available. He got back with me with any concerns I had.
Overall they did a really good job. I did not know much about roofing and the owner, Paul, explained the process to me. He did a great job!
Horrible. Almost everything done incorrectly. Had to call back several times for work to be done less wrong. Many problems I fixed myself because the crew did not have the knowledge or capability to do it right themselves. Many problems still exist. The contract indicated a complete Owens Corning roofing system would be installed. The only Owens Corning products installed were the shingles and ridge cap. I believe all other materials were from other generally lesser brands and product lines. On the low pitch portion of roof (this new roof leaked a lot during the winter):- Crew Initially installed rhino roof U15 underlayment meant for sloped roofs. - Subsequent installation of self-adhering underlayment, then flashing, then top layer, with no other product or sealer (relying on top layer to self-adhere to the flashing), unsurprisingly, did not work. - Top layer installed with buckling and bubbles and unnecessary vertical seams on first two courses (roof is only 16 feet wide). On the higher pitched roof:- Installed ridge caps, but didn’t cut the vents- Ice and water barrier not installed in some areas (installer sent to fix problem wanted only to install barrier against wall, and not wrap it down under shingles and flashing, onto roof).- Sections of delaminated/rotted roof deck were not replaced. - Sections of shingles were not fully nailed downFlashing:- Flashing nailed near inside bend- Tyvek house wrap tucked behind flashing- Used step flashing on flat horizontal runs- No kick-out flashing installedGutters were nearly destroyed. Extremely dented, some barely attached to house, and all completely filled with old shingles and debris. I cleaned them out in the end.Old shingles, nails, and other debris not fully cleaned up and removed from ground. Some nails used to attach roof jacks during the many instances a worker was called back to “fix” problems are exposed and rusting.Driveway was damaged when dumpster was picked upIt took several calls from me to get them to register the roof warranty. This is not even a complete list. They did other work on the exterior and it was also all bad/wrong.
Kristen Cossa is extremely professional and always with a bright smile. She is very knowledgeable and courteous in how she responds and follows up.
I never should have used Perri. Was told the higher cost was related to quality - first repair was in 7 months. Also believe I have a problem with the ac unit. Paid for 21 s got 14 s. Will turn over to an attorney
Top tier organization except for the aforementioned roofing nail issue.
