Purchased our lot in Wilshire Estates October 2020, went through design and had pre construction meeting/closing early January 2021. Construction began in March and was given a completion date of June - July, but it was difficult to predict due to supply issues. Our previous house was sold and contingent on us being out by July 31st. Mark McNaughton and his team, managed by Tom Schneider came through for us and we were able to settle on July 29th because of their efforts. There were some punch list items that needed addressed, but as of 11/10/21 all have been taken care of to our satisfaction, most were due to supply delays. After more than 3 months in the house there have been no construction issues, in fact I applaud the good job they did in constructing our home. I found both Mark and Tom reasonable and professional. I definitely recommend this builder and I would give this a five star review, except for the design process.
During design we had to pay extra close attention to each item in the agreement of sale and the addendums and we suggest that extra attention needs to be employed during this process. Pleased to say, that with the extra attention on our part, we did end up with the design we wanted (almost). One last suggestion is to make sure everything regarding design is in writing and is understood.
Also, after advising Mark McNaughton of my review he reached out to be to get specifics regarding the design process in order to improve.
We closed on our brand new $700K home in the Estates at Autumn Oaks on April 1st. We did have a 3rd party inspection before closing. Problems we have had so far. . .
-On our 3rd night in the home, the downstairs powder room bath toilet spontaneously overflowed and flooded the bathroom and poured into the basement due to a main sewer line backup. I was in the middle of a shower and had to jump out and run down stairs in a towel with shampoo still in my hair to help my husband mop up the mess, both of us ending up covered in sewer water.
-The master bath and upstairs guest bath toilets both leaked sewage air and water at the bases
-The driveway is sinking in a portion of it, several other spots are coming up in pieces and we were told we need to drive on it differently (what?)
-The ceiling in the master bathroom cracked and 2 attempts were made by McNaughton employee to repair it before we were told someone stepped on a support structure during construction and it was never fixed. This finally got fixed last week.
-The kitchen island stone was not installed properly, the wrong glue compound was used initially and fell off and had to be redone
-They left tile in the hvac vents which my husband vacuumed out
-Two of the upper kitchen cabinets can’t open because they are blocked by the window trim
-Currently our master shower has been out of use for 2 weeks because it leaked. The tile has been removed and the several floor tiles as well, no eta on when the repair will be done.
-The picture window in our master bath leaked during the last rain
We are so pleased with the entire building process that we have told all our friends and relatives of the positive experience. This is always a huge undertaking and one that we’ll appreciate for years to come. We not only built a home but fulfilled a dream.
McNaughton Homes provides good construction and fair value for the money.
Absolutely in love with our new home! I knew I picked mcnaughton for a reason. Would highly recommend them! Without a doubt, I would use them again in the future! Gene, our foreman was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process, as was the entire office staff. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Seth our realtor was great and was always available anytime of day to answer our questions!
Areas Of Satisfaction - During our construction, if we saw something was wrong, Gene got it fixed immediately and our pre-settlement walk through. Seeing all the final details done and Gene taking care of every little knick and going over everything with us in great detail and giving us great tips really showed us how well mcnaughton treats their customers!
Areas Of Satisfaction - I was most satisfied with the people that did the work. They were pleasant and helpful.
Areas Of Satisfaction - I was most satisfied with their floor plans and that they build a nice house.
Areas Of Satisfaction - John Greenwood's concern with my issues. Friendly and empathetic
Schedule - The told us to anticipate 4-6 months from ground breaking until occupancy. We moved in at almost exactly 5 months - one week earlier than their first quoted completion date.
Construction Quality - We had some relatively minor issues with the flooring and deck. McNaughton saw that all of them were taken care of.The tile work is excellent!
Areas Of Satisfaction - Worked with us on design change ideas. Stuck to their time commitment. Great about keeping in touch. Excellent site supervisor - specifically he met us at the site multiple times to allow us to walk through and kept a very close eye on the details of construction.
We are really impressed with our house and how smoothly the entire process went.
I built my home over 9 years ago and still love every part of it. The build quality of a home should be your number 1 priority and McNaughton Homes is top notch. I would build another home over and over again with McNaughton. Not only do I live in a McNaughton home but I also sell them!
Additional Comments - Our home is 9 years old now and the quality of the original construction is very visible, little to no settling, dry basement, roof is still in exelent condition, no cracks in the driveway, all the rain gutters remain working without leaks, windows are still tight and energy efficient. Simply very happy with our selection

Areas Of Satisfaction - I am most satisfied with the build quality. The house is beautiful and exactly what my wife and I wanted.
Lead Source - We were looking in a certain area and found a neighborhood that had three builders. McNaughton was one of those. We did our research and decided they were the builder we wanted to use. We liked the floor plan.
Areas Of Satisfaction - It went pretty much the way we thought. We enjoyed watching it go up and seeing the progress. Christina Shepherd was really good. She was always responsive and helpful when we asked her something.
Lead Source - We were driving around and looking at different developments. We drove in and saw the sign. Also, my sister has a house in the same neighborhood built by McNaughton and she was happy with them.
Areas Of Satisfaction - I was very satisfied with the changes that needed to be made specifically the basement., the enlargement of the deck, the steps. Overall McNaughton's accommodated our requests, the kitchen floor was installed crooked and repaired correctly.
Lead Source - This is the second home we purchased from McNaughton's.
Additional Comments - Overall we were pleased with the service, the quality and willingness to accommodate our requests. With any project there will be little issues here and there which were resolved. I do believe the grass could be of better quality. It is lacking the lushness and thickness it should have. A high quality neighborhood pays attention to the smallest detail which is a reflection on the developer.
They are great to work with.
This was such a helpful service. Highly recommend!!

I had the front door replaced. It was wood and had warped and there was difficulty closing it. Two guys came out, and took the old door out and replaced with a steel door. They did a great job and addressed all aspects. I'm happy with the end result. You may pay up for the service, but the results a... more

GuildQuality partners with it's member companies to survey their customers and collect detailed feedback on their behalf. By administrating surveys as an unbiased third party we ensure that customers have the oppurtunity to express their true feelings about a project and that members get the most accurate and detailed feedback possible.
When a survey contains the "Review" question, that customer's answer will show up on the member's profile page as a public review. Members have the option to turn off reviews but cannot hide individual reviews. It's all or nothing. This means that any reviews you see on a GuildQuality profile page are real comments left by the customer and verified by GuildQuality.
Each item listed under "Customer satisfaction" represents a specific question asked by GuildQuality to customers of McNaughton Homes as part of our survey process. The bar graph and percentage next to the question stand for the percentage of respondents that were "Satisfied" about that particular question.
A customer is considered satisfied about about a question if they answered with 4 or more stars out of 5. For example if the "Communication" question is at 95% satisfaction that means that 95% of survey respondents answered that question with 4 or more stars out of 5 possible stars.More about surveys
