It's more like 3.5 stars. If you're considering Nu Vu, we recommend them, but read this whole thing first to prepare.

The work and the product are solid. We're enjoying our windows regularly and love the look. They aren't as sound insulating as I hoped, but given our noisy neighborhood, that might be unavoidable. Even with that, I'm convinced Nu Vu sells the best windows in central Iowa. We really want the same windows for the rest of our house.

The workers are excellent. Gramps was incredible! That guy went above and beyond, even though he's retired. We adored him. He's an absolute rockstar and a good human! Also, Jeff and Josh worked **** hard in rough conditions. They are to be commended given the weather, illnesses, and circumstances. That said, if you're smoke sensitive, request up front that workers smoke off property. I failed to mention it, so that's on me. We still plan on sending thank yous to the workers though, especially Gramps!

We had multiple frustrations. We discussed most of these with the owner, Anthony, and things were settled favorably and with apologies. I reiterate that we'd hire Nu Vu again, but with very clear, thorough expectations.

Our suggestions if you're considering Nu Vu:
1) Get as much in writing as possible. Ask questions to the point of being annoying and redundant. The lack of communication caused conflict with the owner and stress for us.
2) Insist upon a scope of work, even if you receive pushback. This is standard in the industry, and other contractors were shocked we weren't given one.
3) If you say "no" to something, don't waver. Set boundaries and stick to them. They will be challenged.
4) Ask for a written timeline in addition to the scope of work. Our estimated project length was grossly misquoted and verbal only. Friends and neighbors (who saw how long the Nu Vu trailer was in our driveway) were almost angrier than we were. To be fair, there were unavoidable weather and holiday delays. However, we'd have understood the old-house-related delays had communication been better. What bothered us most was preventable delays. I want to be sensitive and respectful to privacy, so I'll write carefully: If employees and owners opt to forgo one illness prevention method, another needs to be in place to avoid project interruptions.
5) Get it in writing how many people will be working on your project. The verbal quote versus reality likely made the project take longer. I think they were short-staffed.

And yes, all of that aside, we'd still consider Nu Vu again.

The original siding install was great and siding product great BUT the facia product has been fault and now has been entirely replaced a bit at a time. Most (not all) repairs were done cost free due to faulty products.

The professionalism, communication, pre-work, and follow-through were superb, and when problems arose, they addressed them immediately. There were no hidden surprises, which in my experience in the industry, when you find someone like that, you want to continue doing business with them. I highly recommend them for exterior work.

Realistically, you can’t expect perfection, but I think Nu Vu is close.

I would have no problem recommending Nu Vu to any potential customer, they went beyond what our expectations were. The material quality was excellent, and the craftsmanship is to be admired. They paid attention to a lot of small installation and clean up details. The sales staff was very accommodating and easy to work with. We always felt we were getting an honest answer or opinion when we talked with their team.
