EcoSmart Home Services

EcoSmart is a division of R. Pelton Builders which is owned by Rebecca (Becky) Pelton. We are located at 105A Clark Drive in East Berlin, CT 06023. We have over 20 employees specializing in increasing the efficiency of existing homes and educating homeowners on existing programs designed to save money and help the ecology. We have been servicing the home improvement needs of CT since 1985.

We are authorized by CL&P and U.I. to perform home efficiency upgrades for your home through the Home Energy Solutions program. The Home Energy Solutions program is funded by a small charge on your electric bill and is administered by CL&P, U.I. and the gas companies. There is only a $99 co-pay, while funds last, and we perform about $800 worth of work on your home. There is no income restriction on this program, everyone is qualified, unless you’ve already had an HES audit.

For home owners who are below certain income guidelines (for example, $58,625 gross annual income for a family of 4 ), there are programs that may go beyond what the standard HES program normally does. We also have crews which are weatherizing such homes for most of Connecticut's Community Action Agencies, such as CRT, Access, New Opportunities and Thames Valley Council for Community Action, Inc. which administer the WRAP program for CL&P. U.I. customers have access to the UI Helps program which also has the same income guidelines.

All of our crews that are working with the Home Energy Solutions program have technicians who are BPI certified. BPI stands for Building Performance Institute which is a nationally accredited testing and certification organization. The process of getting certified isn't easy. The technician needs to know how to test the home, assess the various systems in the home, how they are working together and how to 'fix' the home. R. Pelton Builders hires people who understand how a home is built which makes them the best qualified to find its energy weak spots. We are authorized Home Depot installers for windows, siding, doors and insulation through the Home Depot At-Home services program.

We are authorized window, siding and insulation installers for Alside Building Products installed sales solutions division.

We sell and install replacement windows, entry doors, vinyl siding and cellulose insulation for both attics and walls.

We always try to do the right thing believe that our customers pay our salaries. We try our best day-in and day-out to earn new business and keep our current customers happy.

We look forward to earning your business.

The glass package and the insulation of the window are the most important. The best window would be quadriple or triple pane window with foamfilled sashes and krypton or argon gas inbetween the glass. ... read more

I believe that the most important thing besides the cost is a Warranty and a detailed list of materials and work that needs to be done in writting.
