James did a great job. He was professional and responsive every step of the way
Experience was good. Definitely will reach out for future projects and also recommend to others.
James and Robbie were very nice to work with. They helped me with ideas for my porch. I would hire Van Metre in a heart beat!??
James has done a fantastic job for me.
The service has been excellent! We are excited to finish up the project!
Constant communication and fully kept aware of everything regarding the project.
I would highly recommend Van Metre Home Design-Build to anyone doing a home renovation! I used another major contractor several years ago in the Northern Virginia area and it was a disaster! Chris Fadden from Van Metre was a top notch professional! He was efficient, had great suggestions, and was able to do multiple phases of my renovation effortlessly. He kept on top of the project the entire way through and had daily communication with me with the status. Van Metre has good quality products and sources and a wide selection of options. If you are considering a home renovation call Chris Fadden! You won't be sorry. I am thrilled with the results of my renovation and will use them again! Great customers service is a plus and Chris Fadden is a testament to that. Van Metre is lucky to have him.
The consummate professional!
He made suggestions I never would have thought of--he knows his business!
Extremely organized and professional---great communications throughout the project.
After a bad experience with a major company in this area, it is refreshing to have a company that stands by their products and services. Van Metre is a five star company and their services are the same in their Design-Build. I was referred to Van Metre by a friend and Chris Fadden , and it was the best decision I have ever made with home renovations.
We have done two projects with Van Metre Design+Build, a garage and a patio/steps/pergola. Both came out fantastic. The garage took extra time, mainly because of the electricity, which was beyond the control of Van Metre Design+Build. However, we were kept informed and alerted to options to still accomplish the task. If we come up with a third project we will clearly use them again.
They kept us informed. Did the work extremely well and took care of the problems that are bound to happen.
They do a wonderful job.
Fast, responsive, reliable
The whole experience working with them has been great. The result has been exactly what we wanted. We would recommend them highly.
Keep up the good work!
Feel the project is being handled in a professional way. Every question is answered (even if it seems mundane) and all aspects of the project are thoroughly explained.
I would just tell them to keep up the good work.
We would have done this sooner.
I was most satisfied with the quality of the people and their suggestions. They suggested things that I never would have thought about.
I heard about them from Van Meter.
They need to get use to the different counties in but I think they know that.
They were excellent.
One additional aspect that would have been helpful is interior design help.
Overall, I was pleased with the communications and way we worked together. I do think there is room for improvement on a more formalized approach to the weekly meetings (agenda, approach to make it more efficient, action items taken and communicated after, etc) and always keeping the project plan up to date.
VM design + build's team of experienced professionals and full service know-how paired with a very high bar on the quality of the work is a stellar combination.
An improvement would be to offer more design expertise on the interior selection aspects of projects.
A detailed look at the project milestones and timelines is the one area I think the team needs to improve upon. I know coconstruct and staffing the team will greatly improve this for other clients.
Extremely professional. Organized is a work in progress as you staff and get your processes defined and refined.
Overall, we feel like we are absolutely receiving a fair value for all the work we are doing but the level of transparency in the initial bid was a bit confusing. You need to figure out how to best manage in the proposal process. How to communicate your profit margins and fee vs flat rate estimates and how you bid out the work will be key components to improving this.
transparency in the budgeting process (figure out an innovative approach to this could make you stand out amongst competitors)project management taken up several notches (detailed project plans, call reports/summaries after meetings, getting things on time)interior design needs to be addressed--not fabrics and furniture, but kitchen design beyond cabinet selection and how everything works together in the space.
The entire team did an excellent job on our project.
Over communicate on details regarding schedules and what parts of the project will be completed when. When schedules change, send updates to notify the clients with revised timing.
I had high expectations going into the project. Even with those high expectations, VM design+build exceeded my expectations at all levels.
Finished ahead of schedule
Top quality. Exceeded my expectations.
Always knew planned activities for the week. Was kept informed of subcontractors scheduled as well.
There was only a minimal punchlist and it was completed promptly
If you are looking for a quality job that is completed on time, you want to use VM design+build I had high expectations going into the project. Even with those high expectations, VM design+build exceeded my expectations at all levels.
Adherence to schedule, quality of workmanship, personnel. Basically every aspect of the project was a positive experience
It was done quickly and on time.
VM design+build did a great job on my kitchen and master bathroom remodel. They were able to design new layouts for both rooms, which gave them a bigger floor plan to work with. They were very professional and always responded right away if you had any questions or concerns.

GuildQuality partners with it's member companies to survey their customers and collect detailed feedback on their behalf. By administrating surveys as an unbiased third party we ensure that customers have the oppurtunity to express their true feelings about a project and that members get the most accurate and detailed feedback possible.
When a survey contains the "Review" question, that customer's answer will show up on the member's profile page as a public review. Members have the option to turn off reviews but cannot hide individual reviews. It's all or nothing. This means that any reviews you see on a GuildQuality profile page are real comments left by the customer and verified by GuildQuality.
Each item listed under "Customer satisfaction" represents a specific question asked by GuildQuality to customers of Van Metre Design+Build as part of our survey process. The bar graph and percentage next to the question stand for the percentage of respondents that were "Satisfied" about that particular question.
A customer is considered satisfied about about a question if they answered with 4 or more stars out of 5. For example if the "Communication" question is at 95% satisfaction that means that 95% of survey respondents answered that question with 4 or more stars out of 5 possible stars.More about surveys
