Touchstone Design Build was founded in 2007 as Touchstone Kitchens & Baths when Carl and Linda Smith were searching for their own kitchen remodeler to create their dream kitchen. Disappointed with the lack of companies that met their own quality and design standards, they set out to design and build their own kitchen.
With decades of experience in construction and home renovations, Carl knew exactly what to do. That first kitchen remodel sparked a passion to build a reputable, customer-centered and design-forward kitchen & bath remodeling company that would help homeowners fall in love with their home all over again.
Over the years, Touchstone has grown into a large remodeling and contracting company that has transformed hundreds of kitchens and baths all across Montgomery County. In 2021, Touchstone Kitchens & Baths became Touchstone Design Build. We’re the same company you know and love, just with a new name that better reflects our growth and expanded services. Hide

We are very happy with the work Touchstone has done. We updated our kitchen and bathroom, which was in dire need of attention. From the initial visit by Carl, the awesome design by Greg, the project management by Dawn, and the onsite supervision by Sean, we couldn't have asked for better. We really liked the fact that Touchstone had their people, but subcontracted to electrical, plumbing, and tile experts. The work was beautiful. Also, they only work with good quality suppliers, so we are confident that it will last. One of the most important aspects of working with Touchstone was they were always available. Any call to Dawn was answered the same day, and any issues were quickly resolved. We highly recommend them for kitchen and bathroom rem

Additional Comments - The project that Touchstone did for us turned half of our basement, which we referred to as the dungeon, into a wonderful spacious laundry room that we enjoy working in now.

In terms of the quality, management, and the final product, it was great. With home projects, there's always going to be snags and barriers, things you might not be happy with. Ultimately, it's how they handle it during the day. They handled it great!

Safe and Clean - I would give this a six! It was great! It was the cleanest I've ever seen a job site. My wife and I expected to have to leave the bedroom while they were in the bathroom, and we didn't have to do that. If it wasn't for the runners on the floor, no one would've known they were there. That's how clean they were.

Recognized Excellence - Greg, the designer, is phenomenal! He's the reason we went with them to begin with. The owner was very professional and fixed a lot of our grievances throughout the process. I wish we communicated more.

We would highly recommend Touchstone for any remodel project! They turned our older, somewhat dark colonial into a bright and inviting modern home with a brand new kitchen, powder room, lighting and flooring through the whole first floor. We especially appreciate the communication and coordination of the team throughout the project, which ensured efficient project completion with minimal stress and surprises for us.

Quality Of Workmanship - The workmanship is top notch. Steve especially made sure that everything was done correctly the first time, and would point out and address flaws and issues before I even noticed them. Big thank you to Steve for the plumbing upgrades in the basement as well :-)

Areas For Improvement - There was a bit of a delay in the project start, although due to supply chain there wasn't much Touchstone could do.

Areas Of Satisfaction - We are very satisfied with the work that Touchstone has done. During the project, some issues were noted with the wiring and plumbing in the house - Steve and the team explained it all and addressed everything without adding more cost. We also appreciated that the crew cleaned up at the end of each day, minimizing the inevitable dust from the project.

Safe and Clean - Both crews were very clean. Every night the floors were swept and their tools put away.

Communication - The communication was excellent. Both Adam and Dawn were always at the other end if I had questions or concerns.

Professional & Organized - From the beginning when we first met Adam he was professional and always kept us in the loop before the project started. Once the project was in full swing everything went smoothly. When there were issues he came to the house several times to do a walk through to show what needed to be fixed. He even brought in the sales rep to show him the basement.

Recognized Excellence - When we met Adam the very first time I knew we were going to work with Touchstone. He explained everything answered all my questions, (and I had a lot). If it wasn’t for Anton and Jeff for coming back and making ALL the repairs we would not be happy. They save the day. They worked a full 8 hrs for 5 days.

Areas For Improvement - First crew Ray and John need to work slower and work like they were doing their own house. There were a lot of finishing items like trim, tape on the walls and the ceiling tiles should have had spacers. There were walls that were damaged and instead of replacing they used tape to hide it. Another area for improvement when they use the tape we’re the walls meet to make sure that there is very little showing.

Everyone in the company was courteous and easy to work with. Job was started on time and proceeded without any delays. It was completed prior to anticipated due date. Everything was done as expected with no issues. Workmanship was very good.

Safe and Clean - Absolutely kept the job site clean and safe. They did not use a big dumpster. Instead, they hauled away the trash in their own truck on a regular basis.
