Dan and Thomas are a treasure to the community. You can tell they have been doing this for a few years. Dan took my ideas and added/subtracted to them for a great finished project. They use local subcontractors, which I liked. Thomas and his crew were consistent and creative in how to get ideas from paper to reality. Easy to work with and timely.

When we were knew we were putting an addition on for my sister, we knew that there was a lot of craziness out there. There's a lot of contractors that are less than reputable and also a number of contractors who while they may try to be reasonable, come up less communicative, or less professional and communication is a big thing for all of us. The fact is that Steppen and Spaulding is accurate, easy to work with, and whatever we needed doing, even if it wasn't in our original plans, they were very patient, accepting. I truly would recommend them and if we have anything else to do in the house, I wouldn't hesitate to call back Dan, Tom, or Travis. Everyone that came here to work was not only professional but cared about the quality of their work and when you are building an addition on your house that you expect to live in the rest of you life, that means a lot!

Value - They were the first estimate we got back in March and we actually didn't go through with this until late in the fall but they were very accurate on what they believed would be the cost. We told the what we wanted and he estimated it correctly. I know they have a reputation for being the highest contractor. Our neighbor has been trying to get into their subcontracting crew. Their reputation may or may not be accurate because they include everything in the estimate. All the things that were put into play were things that were accounted for in the estimate and that the others did not include. I think the reputation of being the most expensive is because they look at anything that could happen and the fact that they are that thorough shouldn't be taken against them.
