Deciding Factors - The factors which led us to purchase our home was that it is convenient to our work location. We like the fact that it is in an area for shopping and close to work. In general, we like the community.

Like another reviewer, they can't seem to get names right on this. When considering building a house in the 500-600k range, you don't expect to have as many issues as we've had here. Workmanship leaves much to be desired. There is a ton of the trim, molding, grout, paint, and tile work that could stand to be redone. It's shoddy work and unsatisfactory for the cost of the home. There are few to no options outside of their very limited design center. The design center was also very unprofessional. There should have been at the very least a digital design center so you can see what the options on the house would look like. I've heard that there have been several people unhappy with the final outcome due to not being able to see said options on a larger scale. Instead we were left with sitting on the floor laying out single bricks and pieces of flooring. It speaks much to the rest of the build, disjointed, disorganized, and thoughtless. The 3rd party audio/video wasn't even installed in the correct places.

I am likely to recommend Stateson Homes but with some reservations. While the sales, design and project teams are all great, there were several hiccups that we encountered. By purchasing a spec home that was about 60% done, there were items we were told could not be changed (such as floor, cabinets and bath fixtures) yet much of this was because the items were ordered not because they were installed. Ultimately, though there were some design flaws based on the items that were selected and we were able to change them yet Stateson then charged me to change them. Had I had the opportunity to select from the start it would have been a better experience. I am also a little disappointed that this email is addressed to someone else although it was sent to my email. It's as though the personalization is gone. This email was sent to Dawn Zimmer yet addressed to Jay Smith.
The sales support and customer service is good, however the quality of the house needs improvement. Since we got into the home, there were issues that we raised. Many of them were corrected but the wood floor has defects, there was a rainfall with strong winds and we had Roof leaks which are in the process of correction as I write this note. I found that in the front yard, there is concrete under the lawn which does not allow the grass to grow healthy. I removed about half of the concrete, but I could not remove all. I think that Stateson Homes should have an experienced base quality review process, independent of the project leaders to keep the quality standards high. This is not necessarily a complaint about the project leaders as they have been responsive, but independence always help on the compliance verification side.

The experience that I have had has been heart breaking. This is my first house purchase and this is not what I expected from Stateson Homes. The quality, customer service or material-wise is not what I expected. The customer experience has been fine. I would like to highlight two things. My project engineers John Shelor and Thomas Vittitow have been absolutely instrumental in assisting me in getting my items fixed. However, dealing with the rest of the experience has been absolutely horrible. The President is callus and appears to not care for his customers. Their job sites or some of the models are not kept clean. I was going to recommend two of my co-workers and one went to the model home and found beer cans and cigarette butts. After watching what I have gone through and for the price of these houses $350-$500,000, have deterred the co-workers from looking at the homes. They are not returning the sales calls nor do they want to consider Stateson Homes.
Sales Manager Communication - The sales manager was excellent. She did everything she could in her power to deal with the issues. Any issues that arose, she dealt with them promptly. It was stopped above her because she has a boss. This is Karen Turner.
