Other window companies are run by marketers and salespeople. Universal Windows was founded by, and is to this day run by, a master installation expert.

In 1987 our president and founder, took a position as an installation apprentice for a local window company. He was trained by the best: old world craftsmen who originally learned their trade making fine furniture in Europe. As the years went by he found it frustrating that the local installers failed to exhibit the old world dedication to quality that he had been trained to follow.

We decided to strike out on our own. In 1994 Universal Windows was founded on the principal: provide quality products at a fair price and install them with a very high level of craftsmanship. He envisioned a company with a family environment where the customer was treated with respect. We set out to develop an installation team that would be second to none. All installers were put through a rigorous training regimen with an extended apprenticeship. Only the best installers were kept. Today our installers are among the finest in the nation. We inspect our work frequently to ensure that these high standards are adhered to.

Sure enough our company grew. Today we are one of the leading replacement window companies in the Chicagoland area. With our growth we added staff with great experience, attitude and abilities. In fact, our top four management people alone have over 75 years of experience in the replacement window industry!

However, our quest for excellence didn’t stop there. In 2005 we decided that the quality of the windows available on the market didn’t meet our high standards. If we designed and manufactured the windows ourselves we could build a product to a more exacting standard. We set out to design a window that was especially suited to the harsh climatic conditions present in the Chicagoland area and one that harkened back to the old world quality that inspired our company’s inception.
