Very good service and friendly.
From the visit for the estimate to the final cleanup, everyone was exceptionally professional and informative. I was kept aware of every step of the project and everything was done quickly. Great work by all.
I chose Westfall specifically because of their Owens Corning Platinum Preferred status. I believed that designation represented a higher level of workmanship, professionalism, and accountability. Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite.
Before signing my contract, I had multiple conversations with my salesperson, Rick, regarding installing ISO insulation beneath the flat roof portion of my home. I had obtained four other estimates from competing contractors that all included ISO insulation, and I reviewed those estimates with him. Based on those conversations, I genuinely believed that insulation was included in my project.
During the roof replacement, I personally watched the roofing crew remove multiple insulation boards from beneath my flat roof. Those boards were never replaced with comparable insulation. The crew that did my roof also did my roof in crocs and not proper OSHA requirements.
Since the roof installation, my home has experienced significant cooling problems that never existed before. My HVAC system is relatively new, yet it has been running more than 16 hours a day for over 32 consecutive days and still struggles to reach the thermostat setting. My second floor and the rear of my home have become noticeably hotter, and my AC vents have begun leaking condensation due to the excessive attic heat. I have historical HVAC runtime data showing that these issues only began after my roof replacement.
Because of these changes, I have also incurred additional expenses by having HVAC companies inspect my system. Their recommendations ultimately led me back to concerns with the roof and attic conditions.
Westfall sent Simon from their production department to inspect my home. His recommendation was to completely redo the flat roof with a tapered system, install the ISO insulation I originally discussed before signing my contract, and add attic ventilation. However, all of these recommendations would require me to pay additional money. While they have offered a discount on part of the work, I do not believe a homeowner should be financially responsible for correcting problems that only arose after a roof replacement.
Throughout this process, I have felt that my concerns have been dismissed rather than investigated. During my meeting with production, I was repeatedly told that my conversations with the salesperson were simply “word of mouth” and that it was my responsibility to catch the omission in the contract. While I understand the importance of reviewing a contract, I also believe homeowners should be able to rely on the representations made by a company’s salesperson throughout the sales process, especially when those discussions directly influenced my decision to hire Westfall.
What has also concerned me is that, after researching recent customer feedback, I noticed several recent one-star reviews describing experiences that felt very similar to mine. Multiple homeowners describe problems appearing after their roof installation and then being asked to pay additional money to resolve them. I cannot speak to those individual situations, but seeing experiences that closely resemble my own has left me questioning whether this is an isolated incident.
At this point, Westfall has denied any responsibility for the changes in my home’s performance despite the documented timeline, my historical HVAC data, and the fact that the only proposed solution is to install the very insulation I originally discussed before signing my contract.
I chose an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor because I trusted the Owens Corning name and believed your certification represented exceptional quality and customer care. I respectfully request that Owens Corning review my concerns and determine whether this installation and the contractor’s handling of this matter meet the standards expected of a Platinum Preferred Contractor.
