* Lack of attention to detail during installation work. Two different types of grass were installed in the backyard lawn instead of a consistent lawn type. Although corrections were later attempted, the grass has still not properly grown back, leaving the backyard in poor condition. I am told now that I did not water the replacement grass enough. So yes, I bought a brand new home but never got to enjoy the full benefits of a properly fitted lawn. My back yard is a mess right now.
* Major water leaks occurred in the home, this impacted water consumption and utility costs. The leaks would likely not have been detected promptly if I had not independently monitored usage through an external app.
* Multiple service visits were required before the leak issue was properly resolved. An engineer had to return three separate times before repair was completed successfully. This made me anxious and suspicious of what else might be wrong with my newly built home.
* No ceiling fans were installed in the side rooms, and requests to have them installed before closing were declined. We live in Texas. Every bedroom should have a ceiling fan as a basic requirement. Or at least talk to customers/homebuyers about it and give them a choice. There are multiple homes in my neighbourhood costing significantly less than what I paid for my house but have ceiling fans in all their bedrooms. My naivety as an inexperienced buyer got exploited.
* There was a general lack of goodwill acknowledgement regarding the consistent inconveniences I suffered due to my lawn and leak issues.
* Obtaining partial reimbursement for the increased water bill caused by the leak was unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming.
* Overall, there was little recognition of the disruption, inconvenience, and frustration experienced as a result of these preventable issues.
I would definitely recommend HistoryMaker Homes to anyone looking for their next or first home.
Besides, after closing, it’s hard to communicate regarding things I want to put in a request for using the website.
Quality of service
From the beginning, we worked with Rasheen, who was fantastic in getting us started. He took the time to understand our needs and expectations, and showed us homes that were a great fit. As he was newer, he later transitioned us to Susan, a seasoned HistoryMaker Homes representative, and she was equally outstanding. Susan clearly explained the entire homebuying process and walked us through the numbers so we could make an informed decision that was best for our family.
HistoryMaker Homes was one of the easiest builders to work with.
They are well made. They take care of any issues quickly. They are very underrated. They are one of the oldest home builders in Texas, and a lot of people have never heard of them.
From sales all the way to closing, this was extremely smooth and professional. Everyone involved let me know to contact with any questions and when I did, the responses were professional and informative. Attitudes among everyone from sales through finance and finally closing were awesome. If you want to buy from someone that follows through with what they tell you, History Homes is the right choice. I’m completely satisfied and love my home!
There was a lack of follow-up when I transitioned to my new home. There are things that weren’t completed after I closed on the house. Now I have to reach out to the manufacturer to have them taken care of, since they weren’t addressed upon my move-in.
At the moment we are about half way through the building process. So far things have run very smoothly. Susan Washington has been amazing as the customer service representative. We are out of town buyers making this transaction more time consuming and difficult. She has been patient with all my questions and done everything she can to make this as painless and easy as she could. Doug Kramer has been great as the site foreman. We get weekly status updates on the process. He has been very prompt in responding to questions and addressing concerns before they become issues. When small delays have happened he tells us about them. I feel that I have been kept in the loop by both Susan and Doug. They make this moving and relocation process a bit less stressful.
The third-party design center was an absolute disaster. History Maker itself tried to make things right.
Your materials that you use is crappy. Craftsman ship is crappy as well. Your project manager and his Boss mainly his Boss kept telling me it's my problem. Comparing this house to a car. Moisture in the wood and it will crack like that. That is bad wood and craftsman ship. I was told the VIP Would call and he didn't.
Signed on a HistoryMaker home as a first time home buyer. My fiance and I couldn’t be any happier with the home, floorplan & upgrades, community and the help from our sales consultant Jaci and Rocky Creek Crossing.
The home is great and very nicely designed. I don't have to make any changes and my family and I can just enjoy the space.
The design and layout are fine, and I do like the open‑contract. Unfortunately, the quality of the products used is lower than what we expected, especially considering the quality the builder is known for. We also found many small defects throughout the home, which appear to result from poor attention to detail and inadequate supervision.
Just bought a home in Tyler Tx. Similar size. Less and much better quality. A real sense is taking pride in their builds. I was shocked to discover the trusses use for the garage. Poor electrical work. Finding larger pieces of sheet rock trash in the wall.

We dealt with Garrett Ford and Weldon Whittle during our building process, and they have both been fantastic to work with!
Throughout the build process homes in our area dropped drastically. You were selling the same floorplan for 60-70k less than what we signed for. Would have been nice to work with the price with us. Now we are 60k upside down on a brand new home. After we tried to back out and buy a cheaper home, we were told our 13k we already paid would be kept by history maker even though you would sell the home anyways. The seller made us feel as if history maker had a family oriented culture. They told us every home they build and sell, they imagine selling to a family member. We soon found out that was a lie.
the sale has not been communicated to me that well. I asked her about the house through texting, sometimes I never got the answer.
HistoryMaker really work to make your dreams come true
Sales rep could use some training on customer service. There was a few different times during the process where she was very rude and condescending.
HistoryMaker Homes was very professional and helpful throughout the home purchasing process. They answered all questions and checked in to make sure we were comfortable. The customer service was above average.
I would highly recommend HistoryMaker Homes to my friends and family. From start to finish, the process was smooth, professional, and well-organized. The team was responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to making sure everything went well. We felt supported every step of the way and are very happy with the quality of our home and the overall experience.
My experience was good. HistoryMaker Homes is knowledgeable and has good reviews overall. I took a star off because on the ceiling, you can see the bulge of where the wooden panels are off. They said it was normal, but guests have noticed it, and it looks odd.
