I would recommend Smith Douglas Alabama to any friend 10x over. My experience was so effortless and easy! But honestly it was the customer service that gives them a 5 star rating. Especially Tony and Hunter! I would do this process all over again if I got the opportunity to work with those two again!

I purchased a spec home that was thoughtfully appointed with some upgraded features without being too over the top which made it the perfect balance of custom and affordable. There were minor issues right after moving in but mostly related to me getting used to living in a more modern home. Everything was addressed promptly. The builder has several plans to choose from and even though there was not a model of the floor plan I was considering or another in construction to visit in person, the salesperson took me through the on-line videos and customization process in such a way that I knew that this would be my perfect home. The building process and timelines were met without issue. I would highly recommend this builder to anyone considering the process of building. They clearly stand behind their product.

Value for the price

Sales guy was amazing, team did not correct items on final punch, will be sending in for warranty work, pvc flooring has hole in it from what appears to be from a screw driver bit impact, shower drain does not line up in the pan (offset), pvc flooring is starting to come up on the edges. I was told not to fill this out until the supervisor could get these items corrected however I have not heard from him, do not even know the colors used for the walls, ceilings, trims or cabinets.

Smith Douglas was great to work with. The salesperson and builder were great, but the preferred lender was horrible.

The seller could not get it together. Paperwork was lost. The final price was not the actual final price. I would never buy from Smith Douglas again I cannot as a buyer choose to back out of the deal due to the contract if Smith Douglas themselves make a mistake which they did when I was going through the buying process. Had I known how incompetent the sellers office would be I would not have bought this house. You should have an area manager type of person who oversees the seller’s office so that if I have an issue with the seller (By seller I mean sales rep) I should have the ability to go over their head. If I had the ability to, I would’ve fired your sales rep. Her level of incompetence cost me money and made my experience worse than it had to be. I cannot in good faith recommend Smith Douglas to a friend or family member. If this is how y’all’s buying process is going to be.

It was easier to pick a house model and all of the additions to go in our home, since everything was laid out so perfectly, than picking dinner every night. They made it very easy for me.

I liked the communication between myself, Sallie Salvador and Ian K (Construction Manager). As a purchaser, I felt comfortable with the fact that I get updates and pictures throughout the process. Also, the build quality is good and I am very impressed of the build cycle time.
