Home design and floor plans are beautiful but the craftsmanship could improve. I’ve been in my new house for 2 weeks now and I’m noticing things like doors that either shake when I walk by or don’t close flush to the lock and have to be pushed. These are beautiful homes and they are brand new - these details make sense for new constructions.

I would recommend Smith Douglas Homes if you have a good agent, but I went through three different sales agents, and they all told me different things. I ended up with bath tile that I never picked. So, I recommend them, but only if you can keep the same team the whole time.

It's a nice place, but they construct it so fast that they don't really do a great job. They don't check their work to make sure things are right before they let someone move in. I have had to have multiple spots fixed on the walls, floor pieces replaced, doors not aligned. Parts of the driveway is forming holes.

Communication was relatively quiet after the sale happened and during the build process - we felt out of the loop at times. Did not receive a pre-drywall meeting. The contract said we would get carpet in the bedroom, but it was not included and the company decided that they would not provide it as the contract was inconsistent in two different places (one spot said carpet, one said laminate). We were simply told that management said no.
