Employees Professionalism - Next Stage team is exceptional in the professionalism from the early estimation phase through planning and construction. They always listened to our concern and addressed them promptly. And for some difficult issue, they always did their best to problem solve the issues. They also did a clean up after each phase of the construction. Of course It could not be as good as professional cleaning service but the site was cleared of construction waste and we could easily move in and enjoyed our newly remodeled house!
Sales Knowledge - Rita helped us set the scope of project and provided us corresponding quotes for different options so we had the flexibility to adjust the scope the project and set the proper expectation for the budget. She also helped us with the transition plan to divide the project into two phases which made our life much easier during the construction.
Project Designer Knowledge - Dianne and Noor are so wonderful to work with. They helped us find the design that suite our life style and also aesthetic pleasing. One of the biggest challenge is that our house has no square room but they made everything fit nicely! We have several customized spaces - an cozy nook for friends/family gathering and a laundry room/mudroom that's perfect for our ourdoor lifestyle and a specialized kitty litter room for our cats that's so much easy to maintain etc. Their design really improve our quality of life greatly!

Schedule - Sometimes things did happen and affect the scheduling especially for project of this scope but besides the communication from the NextStage team directly we could also find the updated schedule on builder trend so delays were anticipated and we knew the reason behind them. This is one of the greatest part of working with the NextStage!
Clean & Safe - All the construction wastes were cleared from the site after each phases were done.

Before embarking on our renovation project my husband and I were both very hesitant to even go down the route of a renovation. You hear horror stories of people who have had a terrible experience. I even had one family tell me they have PTSD from their contractor and will never remodel a home again. I knew that if we were going to do this, my gut would guide me and let me know which company felt right and would be the right fit for our project. I was not wrong. I told my husband right from the start that Next Stage felt different and I felt comfortable with them (we met with MANY different companies). If we were going to spend our money on a project as big as ours I needed to have absolute trust from the beginning. Throughout the yearlong process, I was reassured over and over again that the decision to go with Next Stage was the right decision. Each and every step throughout the process was smooth, professional, and genuinely fun.
Employees Professionalism - Each and every employee my husband and I met was very professional and courteous, but that is not why we love you guys! What is most appealing about your employees are that they have the right balance of professionalism mixed with authenticity and friendliness. I loved that they shared tidbits from their personal lives along the way. Rita could recommend places for us to check out when we traveled to Healdsburg. I know Paul loves Family Feud and had an amazing trip to Italy. Dianne was always quick to share photos of her little boy during our conversations of how rambunctious young boys can be and Noor would share guidance on parenting teens as my daughter is now entering that same stage. I could hang out with this group on a Saturday evening over dinner and have the best time. Professionalism was always there and that is great, but authenticity is what stood out to me.
Sales Knowledge - Rita was with us from day one and there was not a step along the way that I didn't feel taken care of by her. Her ability to answer any and every question we had with confidence gave us such a sense of comfort. We knew she knew what she was doing and we did not have to worry. Budgeting, change orders, close outs, it all went incredibly smooth. Rita, you even moved midway through our project and that distance didn't matter once. You were still available and attentive to whatever we needed. Thank you for staying on board with us to the end. We would have understood if you hadn't. Project Designer Knowledge - To write a review of these three incredible women in one section is just not fair! Dianne, Noor, and Berfin, THANK YOU for guiding the ship in the design phase. My husband and I have talked extensively about what we love the most in our new home and it goes back to the original design. We are still living in only a 1,500+ sq. ft. home and yet we feel we have gained SO much space and functionality in our home. This design was everything to us and we cannot thank you enough. I am not kidding when I say that each and every day I have a moment where I look around and reflect on how grateful I am. I promise you that is a genuine statement, each and every day I can't believe what you have given our family. Dianne and Noor, I am incredibly grateful for the endless hours we looked at more design choices than I care to ever look at again for the rest of my life ;-) While you are both familiar with my type-A personality, that personality does not extend into design elements and I was often overwhelmed at what might look good or what would be a good choice. The fact that you came to each and every meeting with things narrowed down for me was such a gift. You were patient with me while also moving me forward with gentle nudges which I very much appreciated. Lastly, thank you again for sharing yourselves during this process. We could have only talked about tile, grout, and lighting choices, but you were so much more personable with me and I look back on our meetings with a huge smile.
Lead Carpenter Professionalism - While we moved out of the home during our renovation we did not live that far away and often would swing by to check things out. Each and every time Ray was at our home we felt he took such good care of it and his attention to detail was as if it were his own home. He was so kind and courteous and his builder trend updates were always much appreciated. When we saw him on the schedule we knew after his visit we would have detailed images to view. While our interactions were not as frequent as they were with others on the team, please know how much we appreciate the care you took with our home, Ray!

Problem Resolution - The entire process has been incredibly smooth for us and while there have been little things along the way that maybe you could classify as problems, they were dealt with in a very timely manner.
Expertise - Without question we felt so safe and comfortable with our home in your hands. It sounds silly, after all it's just a house, but it was so much more than that. It was money being spent that we had saved for quite some time. It was our first home that we had purchased after moving to California in 2015. It was the home that sits next to our neighborhood school that our son attends. We handed over our home to you and that is not an easy thing to do. When you handed it back, you preserved the heart of the home while giving us years to grow into its new walls.
Schedule - I don't know how it happened since everyone tells us renovation projects never end on time, but somehow it all worked out! We are incredibly happy to get back into our home before the Holidays.
Budget - Transparency around the budget, change orders, and closet outs were exceptional. We always knew where we stood with our finances and the budgeting of the project. Thank you for making that part of the project painless.
Clean & Safe - I cannot thank you enough for completing this project without disruption to the neighboring school, crossing guards, and hundreds of children that walk past our home on a daily basis. Right before you started demo on our home there was an incident in our district where a child was hit and killed by a car in a crosswalk going to school. It was such a tragic accident and I was terrified when you started construction that because of our home renovation, trucks and vehicles might hinder our crossing guard's visibility of the students. It was never an issue and I am so grateful everyone who came to our home was mindful of the traffic and children. I know some home sites are easier than others. Please know that the care you took to not block our streets is appreciate by me more than you will ever know.
Subcontractors Professionalism - Everyone we encountered was very professional and courteous!
Value - We know that we could have saved money by going about our renovation in a different way or with a different company, however, there is no doubt in my mind that if we had, the experience would not have come close to being as good as it was with Next Stage. We had high expectations knowing what we were spending and you exceeded those expectations!
Project Manager - It speaks very highly of Paul that as soon as I hear his name, I get a smile across my face. He, of course, was the one behind the scenes managing every detail of our construction schedule but outside of that he is so personable and fun to chat with. Paul was happy to meet with us on a weekly or biweekly basis so we could see progress and ask questions, he responded very quickly over text and email, and dealt with any issues we had in a timely manner. The role of Project Manager is so vital to the success of a project and I realize that I say that not even knowing half of what Paul does behind the scenes. In fact, all the headaches and stress that he shouldered during our project so we didn't have to, makes him a freaking Golden God! I trusted him wholeheartedly every step of the way. You are good people, Paul, and I can't thank you enough for the time and attention you gave our home. The title of Golden God crossed my mind more than once of course (how could it not?!?!) but even more so Paul you are "the guy next door" which simply means, a neighbor and friend everyone would love to have.

Problem Resolution - We had structural issues which caused some delays but the team kept the subs informed so that they could adapt to the new schedules. I had some issues with appliance installation and Nextstage stepped up and installed by range when it wasn't their job. Much appreciated!
Expertise - Yes. Their relationship with and understanding of the county permit process was excellent. They helped me avoid unplanned and costly structural upgrades by reinforcing existing structural elements at a fraction of the cost.
Schedule - Very close to the original schedule. Delays are expected but there weren't many.
Clean & Safe - We lived in the house during th remodel and the team was great at cleaning up when they left for the day.
Punchlist - We didn't have much of a punch list but it was handled quickly.
Work Done Right - Most was flawless. We did have to re-tile a section of our shower twice because the project manager noticed the quality wasn't up to NextStage standards.

Clean & Safe - The took what seemed like extra effort to keep the site clean. Every day work was performed was begun and ended with ensuring a clean work environment.
Project Manager - Tim is simply amazing. His openness and availability to talk about the project really made him a friend. He made the relationship in a way, that I felt completely comfortable contacting him anytime with any questions. I wish everyone could have Tim as their project manager.

To me, the biggest issue with NextStage is the cost. Unless I have something "structural" or that requires solid expertise, NextStage has always been the highest bid.

Project Manager - I love this guy. Paul responded to every single email and every single text. He has great follow-through. When I do my other living room windows, I want Paul (and Earl) back.
Recognized Excellence - I don't think I had a "project manager" during my first project with NextStage and Chip handled everything (maybe he was lead carpenter and PM all rolled into one). I think for this project, it was helpful to have Paul doing his thing and Earl/Zack doing theirs because it was more like 3 smaller projects all bundled together (so more coordination required).
Additional Comments - I really appreciate NextStage accommodating my travel schedule. I know that prevented the crew from wrapping up earlier since I was not comfortable with anyone entering the house while I was out of state. Paul offered to swing by the house to check daily but that just seemed unnecessarily burdensome to him to me. I believe he was getting pressured to get my project done so this was on me. But I truly thank Paul for offering.

Without a doubt. It is very hard to find a remodeling company that you can trust and NextStage is reliable, cares and is compassionate about what they do.
Sales Knowledge - Taking an old house, stripping it down and building a second story in the attic was an ambitious project and Patricia was ready for the challenge. She never shied away from our ideas and was with us every step of the way letting us know how much things would cost. We also appreciated her professionalism and willingness to talk freely about our concerns before, during and after the project.
Lead Carpenter Professionalism - Glenn was more than a carpenter on this project. He was able to see our vision and skillfully build it and make it a reality. It is obvious Glenn has a lot of hands on experience and I have a feeling our project would have gone a different direction had Glenn not been on the project throughout. Not only did he do all of the framing for the upstairs but he also installed the kitchen cabinets and everything turned out beautiful. I especially love how he framed the dormer window in the upstairs bedroom. It is prefect.
Subcontractors Professionalism - I would like to especially mention Jeff Dean plumbing and the drywall partners. They went above and beyond!! The water in Willow Glen is horrible and finding the right tankless to use and filter system was complicated and we really appreciate Jeff Dean’s knowledge and recommendation on what system would work best. It was also challenging to plumb the new upstairs. Jeff, Glenn, Tim and Jeff S had to work closely to make it work. It was impressive to hear them talk through the obstacles. Drywall, worked tirelessly and the results are beautiful. They had to work with existing plaster as well as new drywall and you can not see any transitions. Amazing!!
Project Manager - We never once felt like our project was out of control. There were a few sleepless nights over exterior siding(not NextStage’s fault) and Tim successfully guided us through every step of the way. He was a shoulder to cry on, someone to give high-fives to, and would be there rain or shine. He called just about every night to let us know what to expect the next day and made sure the project kept on tract.
Recognized Excellence - This project would not have happened without Jeff Schroeder. He was very much involved behind the scenes helping Patricia,Tim and the engineer to make sure the overall character of our old home was not being overlooked. Jeff played a valuable roll especially in the beginning to make sure the overall “plan” was well thought through and every possible option was explored. Jeff understood, from the beginning what was important to us and where we were willing to compromise. He cared enough to step in and share his knowledge and the project was better because of it.
GuildQuality partners with it's member companies to survey their customers and collect detailed feedback on their behalf. By administrating surveys as an unbiased third party we ensure that customers have the opportunity to express their true feelings about a project and that members get the most accurate and detailed feedback possible.
When a survey contains the "Review" question, that customer's answer will show up on the member's profile page as a public review. Members have the option to turn off reviews but cannot hide individual reviews. It's all or nothing. This means that any reviews you see on a GuildQuality profile page are real comments left by the customer and verified by GuildQuality.
Each item listed under "Customer satisfaction" represents a specific question asked by GuildQuality to customers of Next Stage Design + Build as part of our survey process. The bar graph and percentage next to the question stand for the percentage of respondents that were "Satisfied" about that particular question.
A customer is considered satisfied about about a question if they answered with 4 or more stars out of 5. For example if the "Communication" question is at 95% satisfaction that means that 95% of survey respondents answered that question with 4 or more stars out of 5 possible stars.More about surveys
