Celebrating 43+ Years of Service to Central Illinois

1977
Menold Construction and Restoration began as a full-time enterprise in September of 1977, doing business at that time as Tom Menold Masonry. Most of the work performed at that time was brick, block and stone work on new residences. During these times, Tom handled the accounting, bookkeeping and estimating from his home, and worked as the foreman on most projects. Equipment was stored nearby on the Menold family farm.

1980
High interest rates caused the home building boom of the 1970s to end abruptly, and with it the need for new residential masonry work. A need did exist for skilled masonry tuckpointing, repair and restoration work on commercial and institutional buildings, which became the main focus of our masonry business for a number of years. Commercial and residential roofing was begun in 1982, and was developed into a good source of work. During those years almost all of the business was derived from some type of repair, restoration or replacement work.

1987
More services were added as time went on. Several customers encouraged us to handle their entire projects, and the Company started doing general contracting work. Remodeling, repair and restoration remained important sources of work, but some new home construction work was again added to the mix.

1988
Menold Construction changed from a sole proprietorship to a professionally managed and incorporated business.

1989
Professional estimating and project management staff members were added along with key field personnel. A commercial warehouse was leased on South Main Street in Morton. An increasing number of new construction projects were completed. Over the years, these included homes, motels, mausoleums, funeral homes, airplane hangars, office buildings and others.

1990
The Menold Construction office was moved to 1050 W. Jefferson St. in Morton. The Company completed its first fire restoration project.

1993
Steve Driscoll, currently a company owner and Vice President, joined the Company. Steve was instrumental in forming the Restoration Division of Menold Construction, Inc. Menold Restoration now provides full-service disaster mitigation, reconstruction and cleaning services for homes, businesses and institutional buildings damaged by fire, water, storms and mold.

2004
Tom Menold and Steve Driscoll purchased the former Tazewell Publishing Building at Detroit and Jefferson Streets in Morton. After extensive renovations, all of the Menold Construction and Restoration operations were consolidated at this location. Menold became the anchor tenant in the new mixed-use business facility.

2007
Menold Construction and Restoration now completes over 600 projects per year. After 30 years of service to Central Illinois, Menold remains committed to growth and strength through the continuous improvement in the value and service we provide to our customers, employees and communities in which we serve.
