I hired Genesis to re-roof the house and to patch some areas of stucco.

The roof was done on time, looks good, and clean-up was good. But, there were some problems. 1) There was a hole in the wall where the roof flashing ended. I mentioned it a number of times and was told a number of times it would be patched. It never was. So, now I have to fix it myself. This was one of the reasons I hired Genesis, so I would not have to deal with this problem 2) On the day they started shingling, after they quit for the day, I went up to inspect the work. I noticed the nailing spacing was not to spec. I called my Rep the 1st thing the next day. If he had come out quickly the rest of the roof would have been done to spec, since not much had been yet. I would have been OK with that. But, he didn't come out for a number of hours. By then the shingling was 75-80% finished. He tried to tell me it didn't matter that it was not to spec. (It was off by inches, not quarter of inches, so I was concerned about the integrity of the roofing, and the warranty being voided.) When I pressed the matter he offered to have the bottom of the shingles pried up and to add the missing nail to each shingle. It was a hot day, so I tried to lift the bottom of several shingles. They were already sticking to the shingles below. I had concerns the shingles would rip or crease if I tried to pull them apart. Since this was the case for the rows most recently installed, I was even more concerned about rows installed hours before. Therefore, I declined his offer.

I have re-roofed 2 houses myself, so I have high standards. I was impressed by the quality of the roofing materials the Genesis salesmen showed me. I expected, at the price I paid, that they would have professionals who would nail to spec. I was disappointed.

To be fair, except for not nailing to spec, and not fixing the hole in the wall, the rest of the roofing was done well. The roofing crew were hard working, got here early each day, cleaned up each day before they left. The roof looks good, and they did a good job on the final clean-up.

Regarding the stucco patching - there were some areas that were done well and looked good. But, there were other areas that were not done well and/or others left unfinished. Also, there was no clean-up. The stucco guys came by for a few hours over several days. My Customer Service Rep came out Saturday, early afternoon, and we reviewed what still needed to be done to finish the stucco. He went over it with the stucco guy, and it was to be finished that afternoon. Then, he asked if I would make the final payment so he could get credit for finishing the job that week. I paid him. An hour later I went to check on the stucco guy, and it looked like he had washed his tools (I have to clean-up the mess), packed up, and left right after my Rep left. My bad, lesson learned.

To be fair to my Rep, he was a roofing guy and he and his crew worked well together. After he discussed something with the roofing crew leader, the job got done. The stucco guy was not part of my Rep's crew. He came by for a few hours after finishing at another job site. I don't think my Rep expected he would just leave.

I am happy with the work, the crew, they did a great job. Roof looks very nice, workers were friendly and polite, they kept he area tidy. They were respectful and they did the job as promised.

When looking at a shingle roof replacement we got 4 bids and found Genesis to use the highest quality product and know the best design and installation to ensure a long-lasting product. The roof is going to out-live us. And this product helps protect our home from fires and excess heat with reflective properties!
