Very knowledgeable, pleasant to work with, and excellent work.
They were professional, on time and did an excellent job.
The process was very strong. The sales rep who came and did the initial meeting was very knowledgeable and polite. The work was done. The team was very kind and knowledgeable. They worked really hard and quickly. They got the job done that day and left it neat. The only reason I did not give it five stars was because it was definitely on the pricey side. Also, there was a gap in communication between when the contract was made and when the work was actually done.
The sales department is the main issue. They promised one thing, and then it seems like they didn't give us what they promised. We have a lot of issues in that area. The person who sold the product is the one who lied to us.
We hired Capital Construction to replace our roof and install two gutters. It has been, to say the least, a puzzling and frustrating experience.
In the quote phase, we had two separate sales folks come to our home. The second salesperson provided a lot of information that sounded very good at the time and we agreed to use Capital for our project. When we signed our contract we were told we would get going very shortly and would be hearing directly from our PM within a few days.
We then received no contact for a couple of weeks and had to call Capital to initiate the project. Our PM, Danny, seemed very good initially, but we were surprised that Danny immediately walked back explicit promises made by our salesperson (e.g. that ANY damage to roof decking was covered under our contract). Nevertheless, we proceeded. We were told that our project would be complete within one day.
The team working on our project seemed very good but was not able to complete the project (or even close) within one day. The team didn't include anyone who spoke English well enough to explain to us what was going on and we received no contact from Capital. They showed up at 6 am on a weekend the next day and wrapped the project up by early afternoon. By and large, it seemed like they had done a reasonably good job with the project, though there were some oddities (some cosmetic issues with the roof wall intersection on the front of our home, some things that were done at overhangs that explicitly contradicted what our PM had told us would happen, etc.).
Then the fun started. A separate (and great - the best people we worked with through this whole project) team came to install the gutters. One gutter went on fine. When trying to install the other gutter, the team found significant damage to fascia that made it impossible for them to install the gutters. Further inspection showed structural damage to rafters, rotted decking, and damage to structural components of an extension off the back of our home. None of this was Capital's fault. However, it then became clear that they had installed a new roof over the rotted decking and bad rafters and not notified anyone.
Next step was a discussion with my PM, who came back, inspected, and promised to get me hooked up with a carpenter to repair the structural damage, and to come back with the roofing team to fix the areas of rotted decking. He also promised to talk with his team about the issue on the front of the home and propose some solutions to me for consideration. I made very clear in this conversation that I was very frustrated to not have had the team stop and allow me to inspect the damage while the roof was not on the home and it was made clear that when the team came back to repair the roof, they, the PM, and myself would all be there. This is when things started to go completely off the rails.
The next day, the team showed up late at night (approx. 8 pm) and began to do a whole bunch of work on the home, including on the front of the house, which I had not approved. They repaired (they claim) the rotted roof decking, but I was not able to look at the roof while they made these repairs and cannot verify that everything was fixed. They also installed new fascia over all of the existing damage without doing any work on the structural issues. The work on the front of the home was not satisfactory.
My PM came back again, with a carpenter, to inspect the work, and agreed to have the carpenter repair the structural damage and correct the issue on the front of the home. We set a date and time for that work to begin and I was promised a quote that day. From that point on, I never heard from or saw my PM ever again. He ignored all of my calls. After several weeks, I began separate conversations with folks at Capital, who promised me probably at least five or six times that I would hear from my PM, to no avail. I would then call the folks at Capital back, who seemed very frustrated with the PM, promised me they would go to his boss, and I would again hear nothing.
Essentially, this is where my project is 2 months later. I am now speaking with a VP of sales, who claims to be addressing the issue, but himself has now ghosted me on a set call time. Capital has my money, has not completed my scope of work, and has been absolutely horrible to work with. Could not recommend against using this company more highly.
The staff at Capital Construction were all professional and polite. There was clear communication from start to finish, and my new roof and door look great!
My first project manager was slow to respond and order materials. However, after emailing the company, we got a new project manager who worked in a more timely manner. We appreciated the prompt response from the top people for our situation.
The initial quotation was handled badly resulting in a large increase in cost after the contract was signed and other bidders were passed on. There are a couple of issues with the work that would make me think twice about a recommendation.
Capital Construction Contracting was very disorganized.
Very good work done, just very expensive
I was pleased with their work, coordination, and communication.
Capital Construction was a great company to work with. Jim was the main salesperson I worked with, and he was very patient, informative, and kind. Scott was the project manager for my siding project, and he went above and beyond time and time again. Scott was always responsive and communicative, and showed he genuinely cared about me and the project -- I felt like he was treating the project as if it were his own home the entire time. His team was great, too! The site was left clean every day, the project was completed much faster than I anticipated, and the work was high quality. Re-siding a house is a big project -- financially, emotionally, and otherwise. Not only was the final result even better than I expected, but the process was easy and even fun! I would recommend Capital Construction to anyone, especially if they get to work with Jim and/or Scott! Thanks so much for everything!
As I rule, I never give reviews online or recommend a contractor since I am not sure if my experience with a project is representative of the company. If asked by someone, I will say who did the work, but again, but I do not make a recommendation.
When we first started working together, I was very satisfied with the experience. As time went on, I became less satisfied because of the delays. One of my windows had not been measured correctly so I had to wait more than a month for the replacement to be installed. It had already taken a long time for the windows to come. I was more satisfied with the first window installer. I became disheartened when I found out that the windows would just be replaced, and my expectation had been that any damaged wood would be corrected. I guess my expectations were too high. After the roof had been finished, a stranger came by admiring it. I gave her the number to contact your office. If I recommend anyone, I will be sure to tell them to communicate their expectations.
We had a wonderful experience thanks to our Project Manager Scott, he was unbelievable!! We had some mishaps through our project which would've made me choose less than 5 stars and perhaps not recommend Capital but since Scott was so amazing he kept the level and quality of service 5 stars. He is an asset to Capital! We had siding, trim and windows completed. Our crews worked hard and did a beautiful job once fully finished.
Very good work, very good communication.
Terrible throughout this entire process it started with the sales man. Over promised work that could not be done or would tell us things like we replace the insulation in the walls, and framing if need be. None of that is true. Chris said the exterior facias came in any color we wanted, also not true. Chris said the window trim would come in the color we wanted, not true. They miscounted all of the windows in the house 6 times, they had to come out and re count every time and each time the contracts were wrong. Chris also told us the work would be completed 8/10weeks after signing the contract here it is, March and we’re still dealing with issues. The windows are leaking, half of the windows were not flashed properly as I visually inspected them and there was no ice and water anywhere… They left holes in the siding exterior walls and just patched them with spray foam. I could keep going, this company is far from honest contractor work and they just cover up all there hack work. I have several photos i wish i could include. Oh and because they miscounted our windows they shorted the cleanup process and my entire yard is left with screws, nails & glass..
Happy with the subcontractors work but found dealing with the project managers to be difficult.
Workmanship was terrific and project was actually started sooner than expected. Not too happy about the way the final payment was handled for the project since there were extenuating circumstances and no patience from the company for USPS.
The workers helped us with a few items they didn’t have to do
This is the second time they've done work for me, and I was blown away by the quality and professionalism of the organization.
They were consistently on time and highly responsive.
Closet America efficient and completed the job quickly. They were careful to make sure I approved of the project through every step of the way.
Very professional and well executed from the start. Barry, our sales consultant, spent two hours with me discussing various options, measuring the roof dimensions, and inspecting what he could from outside and the attic. The work started at least a few weeks earlier than I expected, and was done within the promised time. There was one major overrun due to the plywood being in worse shape than anticipated, but that can happen and I do not believe it was due to any poor diligence on Capital Construction's part. The project manager on site was very responsive to any issues I identified. Highly recommend.
If this were simply about the quality of the work completed by the people who actually did the work, I’d have no hesitation in recommending. But they are the most disorganized, uncommunicative company I have ever worked with. Never again.
