Buyer beware- we reluctantly feel compelled to share our story so others can make an informed decision before making an enormous mistake. Our home was one of two Homearama show homes built by Redknot in our subdivision in 2020. This was supposed to be our dream home, however, working with Redknot has made it a nightmare. While the owner made an impressive sales pitch that promises quality work, clear communications and a partnership in the building process; the actual experience includes sloppy work, shortcuts, poor management of contractors (who caused damage to the home) and making changes to the architectural plans with no communication to us - hoping that we wouldn't notice! We have been in the home for nearly a year, and Redknot has still not completed the work on the home. Instead of working on these items and finishing our home, Redknot is threatening to put a mechanics lien on our house! When completion of the home was delayed, the owner also promised to pay for one month of interest on the construction loan for not finishing the home on time. He seems to have forgotten that promise as well. Homearama was in October of 2020. After pleading with Redknot - for a full year - to finish our home, basic things are still not complete, like exterior wood that was never painted (installed in September 2020) and is now water stained and rotting; as well as a hole in the side of the house that has been exposed to the weather for more than a year. Other items severely impact the livability of the home. For example, our HVAC will not cool below 77 or heat above 68 on normal Cincinnati summer or winter days. The system also runs constantly - dripping and puddling - causing damage to the home and our stored items. Redknot continues to ignore this and told us to put up more window treatments and see if that helps! The paint on our front porch is also peeling off and several other items not listed here were promised to be completed by the owner. At this point, we may have to hire an outside contractor to finish our home and prevent further damage from occurring. Needless to say, it was a huge and costly mistake hiring Redknot to build our home. If you are considering building with Redknot, stop and look at the other custom builders in town, based on our neighbor's experience with other builders, we wish we would have!
