There were multiple code issues with our home that I pointed out to McArthur homes and they felt like it was not a code issue. When I brought it up to others they agreed that they are code issues and that I could have taken it to an attorney.
Our biggest problem with McArthur Homes is lack of communication and follow through. Something can be discussed and a plan decided upon that has a specific result. However how it turns out may not even be close to what was promised. It's as though the left hand has no idea as to what the right hand is doing.
We struggled with communication a few times. If I were to do it again I would put some things in writing.
I am very happy with the quality of homes that they build and very happy that we chose to go with them to build our first home.

1 year later it is apparent from myself and various neighbors that McCarthur had issues with their framers on this build. I have needed carpet pulled to fix creeks. I currently have a creek under the tile in a bathroom and McArthur has not responded to my request for fixing it (within warranty period). Additionally the HVAC plans filed with the city show dramatically more vents and capacity compared to what was installed in the house. Resulting in the upstairs being quite warm. Most of the HVAC was run using flex pipe which cuts most of the air pressure. We also have had 3 service calls with their plumbers because water pressure and temperature have been spotty. When you flush a toilet, the shower pressure in every bathroom cuts to 30% of what it should be. It is evident that the 3/4 PEX piping is inadequate for the amount of appliances that each one feeds. At this point I would not recommend McArthur to a friend.
Great company to work with for building our dream home!
I would have originally given this a five star rating; however, recent conversations and agreements with McArthur employees have reduced this rating. The quality of the home is excellent, as was the initial building process. The company would do well with some customer service training in not telling the client that they are doing them a favor by following up in promised services. We heard this twice in as many weeks. In addition, we have been battling landscaping issues as it appears the sod laid in our front yard was put directly on existing dirt.
The layout is nice, but the quality of work was less than expected, and you pay a premium for what you get. The builder is not very compromising on any sweat equity, or personal customization on the build.
I like there floor plans, and pricing.
The entire home buying experience with McArthur homes was exceptional! They have obviously been building homes for a long time. The process is highly efficient and seamless. The quality of the home is outstanding. The best home buying experience I have EVER had!

McArthur is a great home builder. This is our second home we have purchased with them. All of McArthur's staff was great and we always felt like we were treated wonderfully.
They are the best builders that I have worked with. There have high quality standards. My house is still in great shape after a year. I look forward to many more years without any problems.
I have built with other companies with before, this is my second time building a home, and this experience was so much easier and smoother. The place is kept clean all throughout construction. McArthur does a fantastic job, I was very happy with the process. I've now lived here a year and any little issue they fixed promptly. I had very small concerns and they still addressed them. The home is very well built and we love our home and neighborhood!
We bought a beautiful home overall and working with the McArthur sales and design teams were easy but I am still disappointed with how poorly some areas of the home were completed. We've had issues with the installation of appliances and had to have professionals come out and rewire them, the banister we upgraded to is not even in areas and still has paint specks that were not removed during the final walkthrough, our tub was scratched, etc. All things that we can live with, just makes us feel a little disappointed for spending as much money as we did for such careless little mistakes to be made. I do not regret buying with McArthur, I will now just be wary of how rushed the construction team is going to be for a new build and how much that could affect the quality of the finished project.

This was our first time building a home and it was even greater than we expected all because of McArthur homes. The entire process has been seamless. Even now that we are in our home and they have our money, they still make sure we are doing ok and are happy with our product. They are attentive, honest, kind and hard working. The entire company is amazing! I would HIGHLY recommend these great home builders. - update: after a one year walk through, McArthur continues to show great care/service to us. If you are considering building a home with McArthur, let me help you make your decision - DO IT! They are great :)

It was ok, but there were some issues with build quality. No glue was used for our subfloor so it’s pretty creaky already. The space for the fridge was 3 inches smaller than it was supposed to be. Had to remove the baseboard and the fridge (standard size) barely fits. The roughed in plumbing for the toilet in the basement is about a foot and a half too far from the wall. We had numerous issues with tile installation. The walls were not wiped down prior to painting to remove construction dust, so even with low tack tape the paint just peels off the wall - can even see the dust on the back side of the paint pieces that flake off. The soft close drawer slides used are poor quality, and when we had their rep out to try to fix some issues he did his best but ultimately said “sorry, they’re not very good.” We had a powder-coated railing installed...three times. Was terribly scratched up the first time and they re-coated. Installed in the same holes so it was unstable. They then came back to install in new holes but adjusted the railing position on the brackets way too close to the wall so the ends of the railing are pushing into the wall and starting to cause some damage. They’re pretty incompetent, so we decided to just live with that. There’s a “brick” from the stone facade on the front of the house that is falling out - started getting loose well before a year into ownership. Basically not a bad location or general floor plan, but execution was poor in many respects. Granted most of that comes from sub-contractors and third parties, but McArthur is ultimately responsible for the shortcomings.
We had an excellent experience with McArthur Homes. Their customer service was excellent. Nothing to complaint about. When there was a problem they took care of it fast. The big complaint we have is against their contractors. We had a lot of problems with the electrical. Breakers kept popping from several electrical aoutlets. Several times we had to place a work order to come fix them. Kitchen cabinet doors were put on crooked. So another work order there. Top of cabinets were left very dirty. Paint around the house looked like it was done in a hurry. There were other things that I can’t remember but we kept finding things to fix. Besides that. McArthur took care of it all. Great service from them. I would highly recommend looking into McArthur Homes if anyone is in the market for one.
