Kent Homes is very quality conscience. As a semi-custom home builder, Kent sets expectations with the established floor plan and works with the customer to customize the home as desired. The warranty service was impressive.

Additional Comments - My experience with Kent Homes has been very satisfying, except for the companies communication regarding the Cape Fear Bridge Crossing initiative
Construction Quality - There were occasions where either material was no longer available, requiring a different selection, or the subcontractor did not use the material contracted for, or the material had a manufacturing defect - all requiring the subcontractor to remedy. While one might argue that these issues are common place when building a home, Kent Homes ultimately resolved each issue with quality workmanship as they arose.
Problem Resolution - It's important to expect that the customer plays a significant role in catching mistakes. However, Kent Homes was good at addressing and resolving matters without impact to schedule.
Understand Building Process - It's important for the customer to be engaged and ask detail questions along every step of the process
Communication - You rely on three critical Kent Homes employees - your sales rep, your design/selection rep and your builder. The most responsive and informative of the three was Kate DaSilva. She would respond immediately, even on her days off. Vanessa is highly competent at design, but I'd like to see Kent Homes invest in additional design resources, enabling Vanessa to manage a more reasonable work load.
Trust - I learned that trusting Kent Homes to do the right thing is part of their company culture, in spite of occasions where subcontractors work was challenging.
Clean & Safe - Kent Homes has a reputation for very clean and safe work sites. That's important to the neighbors who are burdened with the disruption of subcontractors on the street for months.
Employees & Subcontractors - Subcontractors were always friendly on site and appear to be very competent.
Employees Professionalism - Never had a negative experience with any Kent Homes employee. Kristin, at the front desk, was very helpful, responsive and involved.
Overall Experience - Building a home is a stressful process for the buyer, so I encourage Kent Homes and customer to over-communicate and listen. Kent could improve the process of managing the subcontractors by adding a process to verify that the material being used or installed by the subcontractor is correct before it is installed (rather than simply trusting the subcontractor).
PM Professionalism - Chris clearly knows how to build a home. He's very competent with the technical and schedule aspects of a job. Would appreciate if he anticipated our questions and addressed matters before we brought them up.
Customer Suggestion - 1) Maintain a good inventory of models to review 2) Arrange for customers to meet senior management at least once during the build process 3) Over communicate next steps with customers 4) Provide additional design center resources 5) Improve the management of subcontractors by verifying materials before installation
Professional & Organized - Kate DaSilva continued throughout our project to be highly professional, knowledgeable and responsive to our needs. She consistently went above and beyond our expectations, from our initial inquiry of Kent Homes models all the way through delivery.
Schedule - Chris Moore was our project manager. He's to be commended for staying on top of every issue regarding delivery and schedule, to the point that he delivered our home in excellent condition a month ahead of schedule.
Budget - Vanessa Hannant from the design center was excellent at listening and understanding our vision, providing professional recommendations, assuring we received a value without exceeding our budget. In particular, we commend Vanessa for not overselling design options beyond our needs and wants.
Problem Resolution - Chris Moore was diligent and dedicated to making sure we were satisfied with problem resolution. He often asked of us "Are you happy with this?".
Communication - All Kent employees were accessible and responsive to our calls and inquiries.
Clean & Safe - Kent's reputation amongst the neighbors is that they keep the cleanest project site of all the builders in our community
Trust - Our trust of Kent Homes was further enhanced during the warranty period. Kent Homes is very serious about customer satisfaction, as seen during the initial and 60 day walk through process.
Punchlist - Chris Moore was diligent on following up to resolve outstanding issues and accommodating our availability.

Design Center & Selections - Working with Vanessa was a great experience! Please look into how she can be better supported with an assistant, better technology, and some improvements to the selections process.

Use Comments - The unique floor plans that Kent homes offers made it an easy choice to choose them. We easily envisioned ourselves living in the floor plan we are building. We love the pantry area, the dining room wet bar, the laundry room off the master bath/ bedroom and the extra closet spaces our floor plan offers.

Any Changes? - I wish I had requested additional CAT 5 cable run to the A/V closet. There was only 1 cable and the ATMC fiber uses that. Therefore we can't have a land phone line without running cables up the side of the house and drilling into the attic (which we don't want to do).
Favorite Home Feature - The screened loggia with the fireplace. We have used it year round.
Our Project Manager, Michael Johnson, was the reason we are likely to recommend Kent Homes. We were off to a rocky start having planned our model and selections with several different people who told us conflicting information throughout the process about what was included with our model. Our Project manager however, was great to work with and helped us manage through the build from a distance.
Construction Quality - We feel confident in our project manager's (Michael Johnson) oversight and coordination of the project.
Understand Building Process - Michael Johnson has done a great job keeping us informed on the build and what's next.
Employees & Subcontractors - Michael is a superior project manager. We are very pleased with his understanding of our needs and communicates with us effectively.
Professional & Organized - Our Project Manager, Michael Johnson, was very professional, organized and thorough. The staff handling the selection process was organized but needed more experienced and customer service oriented communication throughout the process.
Punchlist - No. Some items on punch list are pending (windows needing replacement, a few other items)
Additional Comments - Michael Johnson is an exceptional employee / project manager. He was attentive to our needs, saw issues early and handled them when we were not here, and relayed information to us in Maryland during the build, so we were on top of any issues or decisions that were needed. In addition, we felt we could trust MIchael implicitly.
Everyone I dealt with was very professional. They were a very responsive, knowledgeable, and confident staff.
Schedule - We had some issues due to Covid, but I cant blame them for that.
Quality Of Materials - There's one issue I haven't talked to them about yet.
Additional Comments - It went better than I expected, given that I wasn't present for the build.
From the beginning of our design to the end of our build, Kent was responsive to our questions and issues that we brought to them. Specifically, our project Manager, Andrew Karch, was available and took action on the things that we noticed along the way. The end result was that we had virtually no issues on our 60 day review. We absolutely love our house!
Recommend Builder - Having been around throughout the build process, from what I have seen, I feel that Kent certainly did the best job between other builders. I did not know who was a contractor or a Kent Homes employee.
Customer Suggestion - Yes, I know my design consultant is on maternity leave, but I wish that I could have had contact with her regarding design issues not provided by Kent, such as, window treatments, appliances (fridge & washer/dryer, lawn/yard input, etc. I wish I had chosen a larger lot.
Additional Comments - From the beginning of my selection of a Kent home, the design process, through it's "near" completion, my experience was marvelous.
Schedule - They started on time, and even during the COVID-19 pandemic, they were able to stay on schedule.
Budget - We selected quite a few upgrades and structural changes and still came in within our budget.
Problem Resolution - There were a couple of items that were on backorder, but for everything within Kent's control, they were quick to address issues.
Expertise - Somehow they managed to stay on track during the pandemic.
Communication - The portal and having a project manager available for calls or texts was a great help. We did have a lot of questions along the way, and made a couple of changes that Kent was able to deal with. We felt like we were in touch with Kent whenever we wanted to be.
Clean & Safe - I have never built a house from scratch, but there were a lot more nails scattered around the construction site on the ground than what we expected. I think the workers could have been more careful, or cleaned up better. However, we expressed this concern to Andrew, and he had workers go around picking up nails.
Value - We are very satisfied with the value we have in the home.
Trust - They went above and beyond to do what they said they would do.
Additional Comments - I would definitely recommend Kent to anyone. Compared to some of the stories we have heard about the other builders in Brunswick Forest, we had a very successful build. Everything was as we had designed, and the things we didn't design were well executed and will hold up over time. We had a lot of flexibility in the choices we made, and although there are a couple of things we would have done differently, Kent made our dream home a reality for us and the process was painless and even fun.
Communication - Between the portal, emails, in-person meetings, and phone calls we know what's going on.
Design Center & Selections - With Vanessa and Alina's help we were able to select options that met our needs and wants.

Quality Of Workmanship - Workmanship on the finishing touches was outstanding. There were almost no visible nail pops, molding seams were few, and when present nearly invisible. One area of the upper story floor squeaks, but will be fixed as a result of the 60-day review.
Yes, particularly given the professionalism of Kate and Dade. This is our 4th new home construction and by far the best experience we've had.
Problem Resolution - There hasn't been anything we would consider to be "problematic." Dade and/or Kate have been readily available to answer our questions and help in any way.
Clean & Safe - On the handful of occasions we have been at the worksite, it has been clean and safe.
Employees & Subcontractors - Can't speak for the subs as we haven't had much interaction with them.
Professional & Organized - In particular, Kate and Dade.
PM Professionalism - Dade has been fantastic. We have great trust in his ability, knowledge and professionalism.
Customer Suggestion - Alert the client prior to finalizing electrical drawings that there is a need for an exterior outlet for the sprinkler system control box. This may (or may not) have an impact on where the homeowner would locate one of the exterior outlets. It would have impacted where we put one of the outlets.
Additional Comments - Our Jonesport model has a storage space in the attic that is less than what is shown on the drawings and in the models we have seen. Disappointed in that we've lost some storage space but it doesn't impact our overall satisfaction with Kent Homes.
This is the third house we have built and by far the best experience. Communication is one of Kent's strongest points. We were kept updated on the progress as well as expected delivery dates for special order items. The finishes in the house are excellent and the overall workmanship excellent!
Communication - We have been pleasantly surprised by the communications by everyone. This is the third house we have built and so far the experience far exceeds our expectations.
Design Center & Selections - Vanessa made the process seamless. We had an early (2+ months) visit to look, touch and see what was available. When our appointment came we were done in one day. There were a few loose ends and Vanessa continued to follow up until everything was resolved!
Sales Attentiveness - When we first toured the model home, Sue Lyons was the salesperson. She was very good in keeping us informed. And now Kate has picked up where Sue left off.
Trust - From our experience to date, Kent has been just great. We expect nothing less as we go forward.
Options - We added about 17% of the base price in selections. This was a result of the included options fitting with our style.

Budget - Definitely within the budget. From past experiences, we knew what changes will do to a budget and from the day we signed the contract to the end, we only had one change! I attribute this to their experience and suggestions as we went thru creating the budget. Their suggestions not only made our house the best, but let us get everything up front and into the original budget.
Problem Resolution - I can't think of a "problem". Most issues were so minor they didn't delay anything.
Expertise - The management of the build was fabulous. We feel our construction project manager was the best. Not only did we have phone calls every two weeks, he called just to keep us updated on items that might affect the timeline.
Communication - Definitely one of their strong suits!
Clean & Safe - I was amazed at how clean the job site was. We were living close by and came every couple of days to see the progress and the inside and outside of the house was always clean.

Value - Most definitely. In looking at other houses in our neighborhood, the Kent homes stand out!
Trust - If they said something would be done by a date, it was done. We had one item back ordered and they kept us updated on the delivery date.
Punchlist - Our "punchlist" was almost non existent. Because we had such good communications, anything that caught my eye was addressed almost immediately.
Quality Of Materials - Great quality of materials. The standard selections were almost always a grade or two above what we expected. The only place where we "went over" was with the kitchen appliances!
Quality Of Workmanship - Excellent workmanship. I had a hard time finding anything that didn't meet my expectations.
Additional Comments - After the first house, we said no more. Then we did it again and had some very interesting things during the build. This build was by far the best and we attribute it to Kent's philosophy, processes and commitment to producing the best product for the best price!
Recognized Excellence - Michael is amazing and represents your company in the best light. Aside from him we hardly knew anyone else. We worked with Kaitlyn but that was during a transition from her old job and pregnancy.
Any Changes? - Kitchen cabinet selection is sorely misrepresented as quality - very disappointed on such a featured item. Its been attempted to be fixed twice and it is still awful! WE paid extra for an upgrade that was junk.

Kent Homes was an excellent builder from start to finish. We had a great experience with every person we dealt with every step of the way. We are so pleased with our house now that it's finished.

Design Center & Selections - Vanessa was great. She was very helpful during selections, gave us several choices, and made sure our final selections went well when placed together. One thing we thought could be improved was tracking the price changes when we made changes to our selections. This doesn't have to do with Vanessa, but probably the software used to track the changes and how it was listed on the options list.
Overall Experience - We've been very happy with everything so far.

We were very happy with the final walk through and the detailed punch list that was given to us after our meeting. Kent provided a second walk through to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction or let us know when something would be completed.
Schedule - Yes! Our house was actually completed ahead of schedule!
Budget - Yes, we stayed within our budget and ended up with a wonderful house!
Problem Resolution - Kent Homes effectively resolved all of our problems as they arose. We feel fortunate because we didn't have many problems during the building process. We believe there weren't many problems because Kent has a fantastic check and balance system in place which takes care of problems before they become major issues. We were so impressed with our PM, Andrew, and the pride he showed in building our home. We saw how he took care of even the smallest problems to make sure our house was exactly what we wanted.
Expertise - Overall, Kent is an exemplary builder that has the customer in mind every step of the way.
Communication - Kent was great at communicating with us. We had detailed calls with our PM, Andrew, every other week and I could text him at any time to ask him a question. He was always super responsive and professional when working with us.
Clean & Safe - Kent Homes job sites are always exceptionally clean. You know you are at a Kent build site because of how clean it is. There are signs posted throughout the house reminding all workers to clean up and leave the site clean. This was very noticeable to us.
Employees & Subcontractors - Everyone we worked with was courteous, kind, and very helpful. We had a great time working with everyone because they made the process of building our home, from selections to the final walk through, exciting and fun to do.
Value - We feel the value of our house is exceptional and we got a great house for the price we paid.
Trust - So far Kent Homes has been fantastic at delivering on every commitment they made.
Punchlist - Our punchlist was completed in a timely manner, but some things are still being completed. They were delayed due to COVID and the lag time on receiving materials to complete one item on our list.
Quality Of Materials - We are very happy with the quality of all materials used to build our house.
Quality Of Workmanship - Overall, we are very satisfied with the workmanship of our house. We felt the paint job on the trim was not done well, compared to the rest of the house, which was exceptional. But, after the punch list walk through, we are very happy with how the paint job on the trim was fixed.
Additional Comments - Our experience with Kent Homes was exceptional. We are so glad we chose Kent Homes to build our house in Compass Pointe. The quality of our home is excellent and we were so impressed with every aspect of our build. Every employee we engaged with was professional, nice and delivered on what they told us. Sometimes, you just wait for something to go wrong when working with a company on such a large project as a house. We are happy to say, that didn't happen with us and Kent Homes. The homes they build are of high quality because of the great staff and procedures they have in place to build a high quality home. Thank you Kent Homes!
Not as this point in time! Maybe after the entire process is completed. There are some GREAT experiences, but also some not so great!
Communication - On several occasions we had to wait for information and were requested to have our response back within a day to keep our house on schedule.
Design Center & Selections - The selections people were great. However, our consultant was switched mid-process and then switched back after construction started. It wasn't until a construction issue arose that we found out that our consultant was switched back. We also were disappointed that the available selections were dated and did not reflect current interior design trends.
Sales Communication - We gave Carol 5 stars...who else was there on the sales team?
Design Center & Selections - Especially with Covid, Alina did a great job. I particularly appreciate the advance work that we could do on things like lighting so we could focus on the 10,000 other decisions when on-site. Caroi's walk-through at selections was helpful and effective too. The overall time required was about right for the onsite visit.
Sales Knowledge - Tied to #4, there were just a couple instances where we would have liked to have a "here is something you may not have thought of" - you guys do this all the time and this is new to us.
Sales Solutions - We had one post-selections issue where we thought a counter was one configuration and plans showed another - the problem was fairly and appropriately discussed and resolved. We appreciated this very much and that the attitude from the beginning was solution-oriented.
Salesperson Accessibility - On phone, text or email, Carol was always accessible and responsive. I had a lot of questions and she was great about either answering them or getting the answers.
Value - On some items, the upgrade costs on options raised eyebrows. For example, when we chose to go outside the builder appliance package to a different set of appliances (still through Atlantic) we did pay more than the incremental difference between the retail cost of each.
Options - I think that Alina also did a good job helping us be clear on what was "included" at the option level for our home so we could decide where and how we wanted to upgrade an option, or in a couple cases, downgrade and save some $

Punchlist - Only a few small corrective items remained on the punchlist upon taking ownership
Quality Of Materials - Generally true. I researched Consumer Reports on appliance relaibility and opted to upgrade all Kent selected Samsung appliances to LG. Would have liked to seen Kent use vinyl or pine vice MDF baseboard in bathrooms. MDF tends to buckle if not completely sealed from moisture.
Quality Of Workmanship - The workmanship has been of high quality.
Additional Comments - I throughly enjoyed working with Carol Hobbs our sales person with extensive knowledge. Also Vanessa at selection was most helpful and offered valuable suggestions. Change Order Process - This process was covered in person and in writing. That really helped us understand the workflow. Carol Hobbs also coached us on the Change Order process as an extra measure of assistance.
Communication - When we were iin the shopping phase, Carol Hobbs was by far the best sales professional me met. And we met many. Carol listened carefully to our needs, read between the lines when we didn't know what to say, and offered ideas to think about. Most significantly, Carol followed up. She reliably and consistently showed us that she and Kent wanted our business in our time. Her professionalism sealed the deal for me: I really could not imagine buying our home from anyone but Carol.
Overall Experience - Yes. Carol, Alina and Chris (whom we met on our selections visit) were all friendly and knowledgeable. If they didn't know something, they asked and then followed up with us.
Professional & Organized - Yes. I would add transparent to that as well, which is a key differentiator for your company. I do believe, however, that there's an opportunity to be more organized when defining the floorplan and selections.
Sales Attentiveness - She's a rock star. And she does a great job coordinating the team. Approachable and transparent.
Sales Knowledge - Always. Carol knows your process, the players and how it will all shake out. She has an impressive body of knowledge.
Sales Problem Resolution - Yes. When we had questions, Carol dug for answers until we were satisfied.
Salesperson Accessibility - Even when she was on vacation, Carol would answer the phone of shoot us an email. Most importantly, she stuck with us through a very long sales cycle, and she did it without being buggsy.
Salesperson Knowledge - I believe I said she has an impressive body of knowledge. :-)

I would highly recommend Kent Homes! We built our home in Brunswick Forest in Leland, North Carolina. It was built remotely. The process went smoothly. Kenny Jones, whom we worked with, was wonderful. We spoke once a week. Any of my concerns were addressed. Pictures were sent. The home was done in a timely manner. I was not expecting it to be done that quick! I thought the whole process went smoothly.We are very happy with the results!
Budget Pre-Con - We think some of options were pricey. We paid extra for the executive kitchen at the first signing of our contact, only to pay additional at the options addendum.
Change Order Process - Yes, process was explained, but we thought costly to make a change. We were thinking of adding the coffered ceiling at the options day and it wasn’t worth the cost . I think at that point plans were drawn, but these are not custom built homes, and I’m sure an easy addition to add.
Communication - Communication is excellent! Everyone is so accommodating, from Ashley Kent, Vanessa ( option day), Kristin, to Kenny Jones, just to name a few!
Design Center & Selections - The experience was good, I would love to see a photo book showing the choices I made. For example, a bathroom with the tile I chose.
Overall Experience - So far we are pleased with everything!
Professional & Organized - Yes, Kent homes is very professional and organized. The fact that we are building from NY, the whole process is well organized!

Lead Source - We visited Brunswick Forest ten years ago. We always thought moving there, but never dreamed it would come to fruition. We chose Kent homes from our own experience of viewing their models, and from recommendations from new home owners. We really liked the look of their homes!
We acknowledge that we did more than the typical amount of personalization and several first time situations for Kent homes, (e.g. exterior elevation changes, adding a fourth BR to the Bar Harbour 1) which were all agreed to but were not built properly. Examples are the porch elevation, the upstairs bathroom and bedroom, niche for the TV, the fireplace wall, and the dining room built-ins. Kent resolved all of the issues but it would have been easier for everyone had it been built correctly from the beginning. In addition, what was specified in the plans final addendum, we had over 10 situations where there were either the wrong product ship (e.g. subway tile, pencil rail and grout, top of the door trims, louvre door, wrong hardware on great room cabinets) or what was specified in the signed addendum and/or final cabinet layout aren't even available. e.g. message center and laundry room two drawers vs. what we ended up with as one. Your selections team and whomever finalizes your cabinet drawings need to be aware of what is and isn't possible.
Communication - Kate DaSilva has been extremely responsive to all of our questions throughout the process so far.
Design Center & Selections - Especially given that we had to do it virtually. Vanessa was wonderful to work with.
Customer Suggestion - Kent Homes could have been more proactive in finalizing some of the personalized details of our home ie fireplace design, shower tile layout

Problem Resolution - When we raise issues, Kent homes has been good at resolving them to our satisfaction.
Understand Building Process - We have asked several times for a remaining build schedule which we hope to receive on Friday for our planning purposes. We realize every build process is unique but we don't think it is too much to ask to have an estimate on what will be done and when moving forward.
Communication - Kenny Jones has been exceptional in his communication with the exception of a forward looking build plan which we anticipate receiving this Friday on our bi-weekly meeting.

Customer Suggestion - The project manager should be brought into the process during the time of selections and when drawings are being done. This would allow for their construction expertise to be better reflected in those documents. The people who are drawing them don't have enough expertise to how things are being constructed. Also, there needs to be more detail in the selections process. For example, we never saw a photo of the by pass shower door and we assume what we see on your website is what we will get even though we asked for it. Also for things such as pencil rail tile which is noted in the selections as a matching matte finish has caused confusion in the field because it is not specified. So perhaps creating more of a specification booklet vs the high level overview you provide to date would be helpful to avoid confusion in the process.
Additional Comments - We are excited about our Kent home and excited to be making it our forever home in the new year.

Design Center & Selections - we designed our house in the Covid19 quarantine, we did the entire selections using the internet and via samples... it was not a problem, and the team (especially Vanessa) was very supportive!
Overall Experience - Without a doubt the customer experience is a pleasure, all the team members we've worked are very knowledgeable, give great suggestions and explanations of the process. So being out of state is not a problem for us, we have full confidence in the Kent team!

Employees Professionalism - Our project manager Mr. Dade Dutton is terrific! He is very knowledgeable and we feel like he is always one step ahead of us, and looks out for us and is very responsive to our requests and questions.
Overall Experience - We've never built a home before, and due to Covid-19 we did it from a distance. Kent has been terrific and made our experience very easy. We trust Kent Homes implicitly based on our experiences in every phase of the build. We highly recommend building a KENT home as they are not only beautifully designed but extremely well-crafted.
