Worked with Irons Brothers on a project involving my garage door; they were so great that I wanted to see if they'd be interested in part or all of my kitchen remodel. I met with one representative, it was starting to go ok, I mentioned I had priced it with different cabinet makers and said Lowe's and IKEA, and he said on-average their prices were between the two, so I went forward with an in-home meeting. The meeting started out ok, but as soon as I mentioned that I didn't like his cabinet budget and that his pricing was NOT in-between the two I had listed... he changed his tone. He couldn't define why his preferred cabinet provider was better than my higher-end choice (and it was Lowe's) but estimated DOUBLE of what I had specified. I said I needed to see the full estimate and then I'd make a decision. Then I waited. Emailed several times for an update, and when I did get one, it was to tell me that he had quit IBC and moved. So then I asked Irons Brothers to try again with an estimate, and was told I'd need a design meeting....which was odd, because I had provided all of the design necessary for the cabinet arrangement so I didn't want to pay for a design meeting where I'd say "do the exact same thing". I asked for a reason why I needed a design meeting and no answer was ever given, just the insistence that I needed a design meeting. And we kept going back and forth with this...until finally they said "well, without this meeting we can't go forward.". At the end of the convo the rep confirmed that 1) unless I paid for a design meeting then that was the only way they would even provide me with an estimate, which was ADVERTISED as free 2) that if I didn't use their cabinets, they would not even consider doing the rest of the kitchen remodel (which would cost MORE than the cabinets independently) 3) that my whole kitchen project was "not on the scale" they would even consider to attempt. Mind you... the previous project was just reframing the garage door. Not installation or ordering... Just reframing the door.
The quality of work was excellent. However, Irons Brothers exceeded our project budget with little to no explanation or warning.
Thank you for assisting us in a tricky fireplace correction requiring coordination with our company, current owners, and previous owners! The project went off without a hitch!
Areas Of Satisfaction - This work needed to be done quickly to avoid holding up other work we were having done for health reasons, and Irons Bros was able to fit it into their schedule quickly and efficiently. Also a family member has multiple chemical sensitivities and Irons Bros was willing to be flexible and work within our needs for specific materials to use, which was greatly appreciated!
Areas Of Satisfaction - Communication, Professionalism, Clean and Safe.
They did a great job and were great to work with.
Areas Of Satisfaction - They met my expectations in the instillation and coming up with solutions to any issues along the way.
Irons Brothers did a great job on our garage conversion. Very communicative and professional. Would recommend!
Professional & Organized - So organized! We still refer to the project binder we were given all the time!
Schedule - Construction schedule was clear, delivered on time, and very communicative
Clean & Safe - We had a problem with dust on the first day of concrete cutting and sent an email to the team. They immediately (like within the hour) sent out people to clean out the ducts and a housekeeper to clean up superficially. It happened so fast and efficiently. We were so impressed and appreciative.
Value - We knew this was an expensive project and we feel like we got our money’s worth. Most of this was in the behind the scenes work that the team did & us never feeling like we had to project manage.
Design Team Knowledge & Helpfullness - The design team did figure out what we wanted very quickly. They guided us through the whole process & we feel like we connect with every piece of the kitchen as a result.
Schedule - We started the project a few months later than we were hoping for, but Once we started everything went as scheduled. Impressive in a pandemic.
Problem Resolution - Definitely. We totally appreciated the way that they handled everything that came up throughout the course of the project.
Punchlist - Everything was on schedule.
Area For Improvement - Perhaps more consistency or communication about staffing changes. We were a little concerned about losing 2 site managers (Matt and Dejah) through the course of our project. While the project timelines and quality did not seem to be impacted, we did grow a little weary of what those employees might be going through/how they were being treated by Irons Brothers, etc. that might have made for so much turnover.
Additional Comments - Our kitchen is beautiful. We appreciate the effort to bring the project to life.
Professionalism - Initial Contact - We had a very good first impression with lots of personalized attention for our project. We felt that the team listened to us to really understand our vision.
Schedule - The schedule was hard due of the global pandemic. While we were a little behind schedule, Irons did a great job adapting in very difficult circumstances.
Clean & Safe - They did a great job, esp during Covid. Our project literally became a case study for safe building practices during the pandemic.
Expertise - Many experts on staff and they used that expertise to solve complex engineering/build issues to our satisfaction.
Employee Professionalism - Always above reproach. All full time staff treated us with kindness, empathy and professionalism throughout our project.
Problem Resolution - We did have some issues - every project does. When we encountered issues they worked with us to ensure they were handled fairly and to our satisfaction.
Trust - This is a company that works hard to build and maintain trust. They always followed through on commitments in a timely matter and checked in to make sure we were satisfied and comfortable throughout the process.
Areas Of Satisfaction - The level of personalized attention was very high. We felt cared for and valued throughout the process.
Additional Comments - Irons is a locally owned, family business that cares a great deal about their clients and their satisfaction. We appreciate the attention they gave to our project and the care we received before, during and after it was completed.
I think that they've always done an excellent job.
Areas Of Satisfaction - I have used them multiple times, and they did the job as expected.
Area For Improvement - No, they did a great job.
Overall, we enjoyed working with Irons Brothers and love our new kitchen. While the project ran long, we are very grateful it finished before the stay at home order doubled our household occupancy. Having such a large, functional and well laid out kitchen has been very beneficial.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Very professional and good at addressing concerns during the construction process.
Additional Comments - I always appreciate the professional manner in which a job is completed from start to finish. You can count on any job that Iron's Brothers says they will do to be completed in the timeline indicated and completed to high standards. We have never been unhappy with their work.
Recognized Excellence - The whole team - Trevor, Matt, Tiffany, Cody, Dejah, Scarlett, Joseph, Melissa - were awesome! It felt like they were all in with me all along the way, and that meant a lot. Specifically, Matt blew my mind with his professionalism even when I was frustrated, his patience and thoughtfulness, and his genuine (or appeared genuine) care for the way the final project looked and worked. He seemed to take pride in the project that was clear in every interaction. Trevor likewise was a star. He was totally engaged at every turn, full of good ideas and constant reality checks. I truly appreciated Matt and Trevor for their candor and responsiveness throughout.
Additional Comments - IBC is definitely not the cheapest way to do a remodel, but the team makes it worth it and, if I'm going to pay, I love that some of that also goes right back into my community. IBC's support of the Shoreline community plus their high quality work and commitment to excellence makes it really easy to refer them to friends and family.
Areas Of Satisfaction - See above survey snswers. Very responsive snd personsble.
Areas Of Satisfaction - High quality craftsmanship.
Recognized Excellence - Dejah is an excellent carpenter and served as initial point-person for all my questions.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Throughout the project, Joshua always went above and beyond to make sure we were in the loop with changes, took time to answer our many questions and engaged us along the way. If we were needed on site, he did his best to communicate with the subcontractors to match our schedules. Excellent choice of subcontractors, everyone of them were top notch, so professional and personable. We love the Builder Trend App, which had the calendar-- we used it a lot to keep track of what was going to happen next.
Recognized Excellence - Everyone is fabulous and so great to work with, even with the folks we do not see that often, like Scarlet. But we got an email from her saying that she received our check, which was so thoughtful. Joshua definitely is the rock star however, we've so appreciated Tiffany's friendly emails to schedule site visits, Cody's expertise and Trevor's (patient) guidance through it all. The team is so professional and focused on getting the project done right and ultimately, making sure we were happy with the final product.
Additional Comments - We feel so fortunate to have your team build us another amazing kitchen/space -- we love spending our time in there cooking, entertaining and creating so many memories.
Areas Of Satisfaction - They met my expectations in all areas.
Recognized Excellence - I would like to recognize Matt for his exceptional service.
Additional Comments - They always have very courteous and talented employees.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Everyone we worked with was exceptional. They provided a depth of knowledge and expertise in every area of our remodel and were able to solve any of the issues that arose quickly and well.
Recognized Excellence - Our project manager Matt. He was great!
Areas Of Satisfaction - Friendly team members
Recognized Excellence - Dejah
Did not clear additional cost prior to work done. Argued and told we were "Unfair". Additional charges were extremely out of line and marked up. Felt gouged when requesting extra fan for ventilation after their designer felt is wasn't originally necessary. Was not told of the IBC sign in the front of the house or the camera in the back. High end of budgets.
I will recommend IBC but also remind anyone interested in a remodel to shop around for estimates, especially since IBC prices apparently run high (at least that's what I've read in online reviews). When I first started looking to remodel, I tried to get several estimates, but two contractors turned me down cold on the phone and three contractors were no-shows after we scheduled home visits. I wound up with Iron Brothers because they scheduled an appointment at their office and didn't cancel it. I had to wait at least three months for that initial appointment--but at least I wasn't stood up!
Recognized Excellence - Cody has superpowers. He's got off-the-charts expertise and flexibility, and his work ethic is inspiring. In truth, everyone I met was sharp and expert and easy to be around. Even the sub-contractor guy who took forever to lay a bamboo floor about as big as my thumb was still pretty gracious!
Areas Of Satisfaction - I was most satisfied with the quality of work that was done. We are very happy with it.
I had a small project that Iron Brothers agreed to complete. They responded quickly to any questions and made appointments at times that were convenient to me. When one of the sliding shelves was sticking, they returned quickly and worked on it until it worked wonderfully. I love my new sliding shelves.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Customer service Willingness to work with my schedule and a great finished product!
GuildQuality partners with it's member companies to survey their customers and collect detailed feedback on their behalf. By administrating surveys as an unbiased third party we ensure that customers have the opportunity to express their true feelings about a project and that members get the most accurate and detailed feedback possible.
When a survey contains the "Review" question, that customer's answer will show up on the member's profile page as a public review. Members have the option to turn off reviews but cannot hide individual reviews. It's all or nothing. This means that any reviews you see on a GuildQuality profile page are real comments left by the customer and verified by GuildQuality.
Each item listed under "Customer satisfaction" represents a specific question asked by GuildQuality to customers of Irons Brothers Construction as part of our survey process. The bar graph and percentage next to the question stand for the percentage of respondents that were "Satisfied" about that particular question.
A customer is considered satisfied about about a question if they answered with 4 or more stars out of 5. For example if the "Communication" question is at 95% satisfaction that means that 95% of survey respondents answered that question with 4 or more stars out of 5 possible stars.More about surveys
