They were very efficient, easy to work with and communicative throughout the process. We were also provided a great estimate for the project.
Additional Comments - They did a very good job! They were actually able to provide a lot more than initial design. John Gaskill and Bejay Hunsinger expended the idea on the initial drawing. It was a lot better than what was initially drafted.
Additional Comments - Overall experience has been a 10/10
A coworker used Hivex to finish their basement and their salesperson was highly knowledgeable and had their process very well setup and executed. Many options to customize your own project and within various budgets. They have great financing options available too. All contractors are in house. Flooring and final paint not included.
The process with HIVEX from Start to Finish was unbelievable!!! These guys make you feel like you are a part of their family. From the ownership of the company right down to the guys swinging the hammers, they are ALL AMAZING at what they do!!! Would recommend them to anyone who was considering a basement finishing project.
Terry Lewis, my project manager was always easy to reach and he made sure the project was done well. The results are superb!
What a great company! Very easy to work with and very accommodating.
Incredible job from start to finish. Michael did a fantastic job working with us to layout and quote our basement, and ultimately his responsiveness and care is what caused us to choose Hivex to do the job. The entire team was fast, professional, and attentive. The owner, Chris, saw to it that our concerns were addressed quickly and we didn't have to lift a finger. The work was done on time and on budget and we couldn't be happier with the results. We love spending time in our new basement living room and have been able to have family stay the night without feeling like they're right on top of us! Just go with Hivex - they're the best!
HIVEX Basement Finishing Co. are consummate professionals. They do what they say they are going to do, when they say that they are going to do it. The feedback went above and beyond my expectations.
Additional Comments - This was an amazing experience. It was easy and none stressful. The complete opposite of what you would think it would be like to go thru a big remodel. Hivex did an amazing job and everyone was very friendly and very professional.
The project is going good.
I am not likely to recommend Hivex Basement Finishing Company. Overall there seem to be a lack of communication from the project manager to the workers coming to my home doing the work. The workers also completed the different jobs so fast that they made mistakes and needed to redo things. We are also extremely disappointed at how many times we had to remind our project manager of the mistakes that still needed fixing and tell him that we actually wanted them fixed. We should not have had to tell the manager that we wanted the mistakes that we noticed fixed . He should have noticed it and communicated that to the workers. The workers at my home played there music too loud, left empty food container on my floor, left food in a bag on my knee wall, stuffed an empty water bottle inside the framing of a wall, and placed two plastic bottles containing what looked like urine near my HVAC unit. It was clear that the contents was not what was initially sold in each bottle based on the label. The drywall workers also worked pass the 4:30 time we were told they would work until and played their loud music until 6:30 when they left, which did effect my special needs child’s behavior and performance academically in a bad way.
There was tile for my bathroom included in my quote and when I asked why eventually I was told it was included in the price because it would help the company finish there job faster if they were not waiting on me to purchase a preferred material. We were told the project manager would call us on the Friday before the job start day on Monday and we never were phoned. We were told who our project manager was but on Monday there was someone filling in for him and he did not know that our original project manager did not phone us to discuss the job. The person filling in did not know details for the job that we told the original manager and because of this our layout was not framed as we discussed and we felt like we had to remind them of the error more than once because no one was bringing it up. The person filling in started walking us through the space discussing electrical but did not finish because he was spending more time than he anticipated on our media room bump out details and When I brought it up he eventually stated that the electrician will know where outlets go. By not walking through I did not get a chance to tell him that I needed more outlets on a specific wall and now I don’t have the outlets I need and by the time I realized it electrical and drywall were done. Also, by him putting so much energy into wall bump outs and having me get pictures to show him what I wanted I forgot about the outlets. We sent pictures to the project manager of the exact post for our stair and got a different style that has yet to be corrected. We communicated to the project manager that the drywall people dry walled over the media room wires so that the drywall people could fix the problem when they were here and my husband personally talked to the drywall guy when he was here but nothing was done at that time and when the project manager eventually returned our text about it he stated that he thought it was communicated. He eventually after several times of us bringing it up cut the wires through the drywall. We were not happy at the condition of our bathroom floor after the plumber plumbed in the toilet and sink. The floor had obvious areas of not being level or smooth and we had to ask for it to be restored in order to make it ready for flooring. We should not have had to do this. I was nice enough to allow the carpenter who installed our baseboards and doors entry into my home 30 minutes early twice and when he was finished he had created damage on several areas on the wall because he was working to fast and he damaged a frame on the entry to my gym that we had to ask to be fixed and has not been completely fixed as I write this. Customers don’t want to pay for something that is installed then fixed and repaired to never look new. We want a new door entry frame. It is the right thing to do but yet our project manager has been trying to patch it up. The bar layout needed to be discussed on the Friday before start day but since we never was called when the temporary filling in manager was here he drew out our plan so fast that I was not 100% ready to commit to and after telling him that I may not want what he drew out I was still given a shopping list for bar cabinetry. Because of this ill thought out plan I eventually expressed my desire to change the layout. If someone had actually communicated to me prior to start day the exact amount of floor space then the selection of cabinets could have gone smoother. I told the project manager that I wanted brown outlets but accidentally got black that eventually got corrected. I told the project manager that I was getting panel on the outside bar wall but yet when I went to the basement to check on what the trim guy was doing he was about to install baseboards on the outside bar wall. When I asked him if he knew not to install the baseboards on that particular wall he said the manager did not communicate that to him. So I literally got there just in time before yet another mistake took place. I pointed out to the project manager that the inside wall on the bar was crumbling and he stated that they would just cover it up with trim when he should have said that he will have the drywall people fix it when they return but instead I had to directly ask him to have the drywall people fill it with drywall compound. I should not have had to do that. We told the managers, notice I said managers not manager, that we needed a specific outlet fo my sauna but when we checked the mentioned outlet was not installed. A more basic outlet was installed even after printing out and giving the manager specific information on the outlet and sauna. Yet another mistake. On day one I told the manager filling in that I wanted 3 pendant lights which he then drew on the floor and yet when the electrician got here and wired for the lights he put 5 wires in the ceiling which I eventually had to tell him I don’t want. I told him that I know I did not want 5 so he only took 1 away and I was going to see if the 4th one was okay but the truth is I really only wanted 3 lights and now there are 4 holes in my ceiling. If people would do what you ask then I would not have to be wondering now if the 4th one will be okay and look good.
They’re a great company to work with . Excellent!
Additional Comments - Hivex is awesome! Bob Salo and his men are great to work with.
Additional Comments - It's been all positive. I'm happy with the quality and professionalism. I would recommend them to anyone looking to finish a basement or any other project. They've been great.
Very professional from start to finish. Quality of work is exceptional. We enjoyed working with the highly talented Team that worked on our basement project. Excellent value and they accommodated all our needs.
From the first communication from HIVEX, we have been nothing but pleased. This truly is a family company when you start the process and communicate with husband and wife teams from the first booking of appointments to estimates to the contracts to the VP of production. Never at any point was there hesitation to have contractors in my house while I was at work or while at home. The company and their employees were efficient, communicative, tidy, prompt and receptive to questions. Being on the OCD side, I felt at ease with a clear timeline of events, completion dates and the breakdown of payments. Updates were communicated on a weekly basis from the foreman and questions were promptly answered. I never felt pressured into something I didn't need and felt respected when I had questions that were beyond my scope and sequence. I absolutely would recommend them to complete a basement.
Additional Comments - Thank you all for helping us create a beautiful addition to our home. The quality of craftsmanship and knowledge of construction is exemplary!
Work well done.
The project was thoroughly explained to me before beginning the process with timelines, expectations and fees. Communication was excellent via text, email and phone calls. The crew was courteous, professional and friendly. The quality of workmanship is excellent. I have already recommended this company to neighbors.
HIVEX as a whole is a very professional superb company. I would recommend them 100 times over to anyone who is looking for respectful, adequate, professional and awesomeness. They are more than prepared to follow thru and produce the exact expectations you are looking for!!!
I have no regrets or complaints. They did excellent.
Everyone working on our HIVEX project has gone out of his/her way to keep us informed, make the job flow smoothly, and fulfill any requests we might have. While I have heard horror stories from friends of mine about remodeling they had done by other businesses/contractors, I have nothing but good things to say about HIVEX. Their work and advice is giving us a wonderful end product.
Additional Comments - They were easy to work with. Even when things were going on, I wanted to tweak things here and there. They got it changed in a timely manner. They were great!
Yes, I would recommend HIVEX Basement Finishing Co. to a friend.
Additional Comments - Very personal and professional company to work with.
Overall HIVEX is a great company and we have had a very good experience working with them. Every remodeling has its bumps in the road, and when we hit those, HIVEX was quick to make it right and make sure we were happy as the customer. Truly a great company.
Would recommend and have passed the name along. Experience so far has been wonderful.
The project was stress-free! They kept great communication with us throughout the project and strived to meet and exceed all of our expectations.
