Plus, he had all the documentation that we would want (contractor license, insurance certificate, etc) when considering a contractor. He was able to give us a bid with a detailed diagram right then on the initial visit.

We had a great experience with Hivex for our basement renovation. From the moment we first inquired, their team was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. They took the time to plan our basement layout and design, and it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing.

We spoke with several other contractors, but we liked Hivex’s plan the best. Their design made the most sense, and they had a much better understanding of our vision. Throughout the project, they have maintained excellent communication, keeping us updated on the progress every step of the way.

The only improvement from my experience would be a little more open communication. I sent an email to some of the HIVEX representatives running the location in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and they did not reply. I was voicing some concerns and included management in the email, but they never got back to me.

I was very pleased with the ease of communication throughout the entire process. Everything went smoothly. My finished basement looks wonderful and I couldn't be more pleased. Going with Hivex, took a lot of stress out of this project.

Inconsistent communication. Never actually knowing when workers are going to be working at the house. Always having to ask and follow up with the project manager for details related to what work is being done for that week and or day(s).
Actual hivex workers (folks who show up in an actual hivex vehicle) are not created equal in their level of customer service or respect for the property (consistently (50%) had to ask the workers if they had anything to put down on our hardwood floors, and getting looks or responses like it was an inconvenience. Then we have workers show up in their own personal vehicles to do work and they are the most respectful and courteous workers.

Communication/Response Time - Randy was an awesome Project Manager! I couldn’t be more thrilled with the service he provided. Communication was clear throughout the entire project and he truly went above and beyond in multiple ways.

The first day of work a worker cut our Verizon fios line. Which meant we loss internet. The project manager said that the company would cover the repair cost. And then my husband, who works from home, had to take time off for half a day. The next day Verizon came and repaired the break. We just hope it’s long term fix. During the remodel you expect for it to be loud in the house when they are working. What I wasn’t prepared for was how loud the plumber, electrician and others would play their music. It was So loud I could hear word for word what they listened too and the beat at times. We would ask them to turn the music down and they would but not enough to notice. We were also told that the workers worked from 8-4, however many times they were working at 7:30/45 in the morning and sometimes stay until 6. The painters had to come back because the paint job was so bad and the floor in the bathroom wasn’t finished until we showed the project manager on his ‘final walk through’ that there were gaps in the floor. The communication with the project manager wasn’t good. He would tell us what to expect and about half of the time the workers would come, other times they would show up and we had no idea they were coming. Or we would just hear nothing for a week. We were told that we would know a few weeks before they installed the vanity to go and get it, we never heard so we went and got the things needed and it was just in time because the next week they asked where it was to put it downstairs. gratefully we had it the day they needed it or that would have been a longer wait. We also requested in our contract to have shelving put under the stairs. It never happened, when we brought this up to the project manager, the paint and drywall were already done. He said they would put it in. But I honestly couldn’t handle the thought of them working in my home much longer. So we said to not worry about it. We also sent him the receipt for the Verizon work via email and he told us he never received it, so we had to resend the email to show labor done. And in that email I let him know of the loss of work for my husband. The company did take $100 off the contracted amount for the Verizon repair. Yes, the basement is all done. But, if choosing again, I don’t know if I would have chosen them, knowing what I know now

I was genuinely concerned I had left too much for them to handle, but I was wrong. They took it all in stride, had the basement completely cleared within the first two hours, and by the end of the day, framing was fnished.

It made ordering, pickup, and delivery much easier for everyone, and especially for me, since I’m not one to enjoy running around to multiple stores. I wanted to explore custom kitchen cabinetry, but in the end, I chose the in-store package for simplicity, which worked well for both of us. I’m hopeful the Lowe's products will hold up over time, but what I can say with complete confidence is that the workmanship of the Hivex contractors is outstanding. In the middle of a freak February snowstorm, they not only worked quickly and efficiently, but also created a clear path from the basement to the street and garage to put my stuff where designated. Again, in less than two hours, it was finished. What stood out most, though, was their spirit. Their smiles, good nature, and even their singing (yes—songs!) kept me in good spirits during what could have been a very emotional day. Much of what they were moving belonged to my husband, who had passed away three years ago. Their care and positivity made a difficult moment feel lighter, and for that, I am deeply grateful. I’d also like to give a heartfelt shout-out to every member of the Hivex team who made this possible. This is the most professional contracting company I’ve ever worked with. They are detailed in their planning and you know exactly what you’re spending, no surprises.

Our home project was well executed from day one. the project was streamlined and the process was like a well oil machine! The expectations were well established during the initial consult and the schedule followed a planned timeline. The design phase was expedient and open to collaboration. Questions and considerations were welcomed. Our project manager, Bob, led the renovation with meticulous insight. Bob provided excellent, timely communication; provided a weekly update and plan for the following week; listened to my personal concerns; and reflected confidence in his craft. the crew completed each phase from framing, plumbing, electric, trim, drywall, and painting with great execution. the site was well maintained and kept neat each day. the team was considerate and allowed our daily routine to be uninterrupted. payments were delineated and planned out well without any hiccups. the end result is amazing --should have done this a lot sooner! a huge bonus was Hivex's assistance with cleaning out the basement and hauling away unwanted items ---the crew completed all the clean up in one hour---gold star service!!
