They were very easy to work with when building our home.
House was completed in a timely manner; even though there was a pandemic raging.
Was very unhappy driveway was not finished for moving day. I didn’t know the top of widows were fixed. How are old people going to clean windows. Would you believe the switch to the garbage disposal is under the sink in the cabinet. How convenient is that.. moved in April, grass not planted until June, followed by heavy rain that washed the seed and soil away. Reported with no results. I am currently trying to plant seed.
I think they build a very good home with good contractors .
Overall, the building process went smoothly and we think the home is well constructed.
The quality in the build of the house and post sales support was excellent. We LOVE our house overall, but I've listed out two main areas below that would have made this a dream process and build.
The sales process was very slow and difficult to get answers - or keep track of changes - we ended up having to fully project manage to make sure everything made it into the final contract. From talking to neighbors, this was a common issue. Even then, there were features we wanted that we were told weren't possible, but then a neighbor had it done, or during walkthrough it was mentioned it was an option.
Also, honestly we would be willing to pay to have an option to have someone who was more of an advisor vs "what do you want options wise off this list of things that aren't described in detail at all and that you can't see visually" - this is our and most people's first time ever building a home - and having someone with home building experience that could help make recommendations or things you might not think about would be amazing and well worth the return - these are things you can't do once the house is built or that would be very expensive later. One example - the fact that there isn't a heat return for the water - so we wait for at least 4-5 minutes for the water in the sinks to be warm in the upstairs bathroom. The plumber mentioned that adding that type of systems is very easy during the initial build, but not something we would have been aware of to ask for.
Also some definite sizing issues. The size of the houses has gotten very condensed - the layouts are great but feel like they could use just 1-2 feet in each direction, including the hallway which is very narrow. The porch especially is more ornamental than useable and it's only a foot or two off of being more functional which is frustrating. The interior door sizes being more narrow is tough - we barely could get furniture into the house and have to be careful when carrying the kiddos through any doors. The stairs are a serious issue - in our townhouse in this same neighborhood, they were at least an inch or two deeper and definitely wider. The depth of the stairs is the worst part by far - we've had several falls (thankfully nothing serious) because you have to put your foot straight down to fit on the stairs, vs being able to just walk down the stairs and not have to constantly think about your foot placement. I would definitely recommend expanding that on future builds even if it's technically "to code".
Also - whichever builder builds a garage with enough space to store things on the side of the garage AND get them out while cars are parked will have won the entire game. Again even a foot or two could have really made a difference here.
Overall one of the better builders in the area, even if imperfect.
EGStoltzfus has been excellent in meeting their commitment and the deadlines.
We have talked up this location to anyone who would listen. We feel strongly EGS builds quality homes if our home is a typical construction.
This was a stress free experience thanks to the aid and guidance of EGStoltzfus. We were amazed and how quickly the house was built and stuck to schedule. The follow up post construction was always easy to deal with.
Although i have heard EGStoltzfus was one of the best builders in the area, we have not had a great experience with the new house. Although team is working with us to get it fixed, it has been a little frustrating with how many things have had to be corrected
Very well constructed homes. I have reported minor issues on my year end list.
other then the difficultly with selecting options it was a very good experience
I feel as if though I was mislead from the very start of the process. I feel that there were several people during the process that cared, but overall I feel like it was just a check the block and lets keep moving on so we can get to the next house.
EG Stoltzfus has a reputation for quality construction. However, they are really putting houses up so quickly, it concerns me that quality may have been compromised.
They provide excellent service -and they keep their word. They are friendly to work with.
They don't believe in doing it right the first time
I would not recommend Stoltzfus as a builder. While they allow you to customize your home, when it comes time to build they don’t follow the plan. We were able to catch most of their mistakes during the build.
To early with experience to make substantive comment. Ask me in a year when we see how well they develop the property and how long it takes to prepare common area
I DO love my Stoltzfus Home!! This was NOT my 1st build so I was probably more of a challenge to work with than a newbie. There have been a few surprised tho!!!
I had a great salesperson who was easy to work with and guided me throughout the process.
EG did a great job from what we can tell. Kevin (the site supervisor) was very helpful and friendly. We had an issue with the flooring people that was not to our liking, but not sure if that was EG's fault, per se. I guess it is a quality control issue in the end. Well into construction they told us the wood flooring we had chosen was not available and tried quite hard to sell us on another type of wood flooring. Pictures of the alternate wood flooring were sent via text which was not helpful, as you may imagine. We were told this different type of flooring was more expensive but we would not be charged for it. We were told this alternate flooring was in stock; they had a warehouse full of it (imagine the thoughts we were thinking like, you have a warehouse full of it because no one wants it, etc.) We felt pressured by them to make a rather quick decision. We spoke to Gregg and he did not seem pleased with how we were contacted and being pressured / treated. Gregg told us he was not aware of the issue. We told Gregg and our realtor, a number of times, that we were willing to wait the months it may take to get the flooring we had picked out. Gregg got involved and he cared for the situation! Not sure what Gregg did to rectify the situation but he did. Unfortunately, this issue (I guess) put the walk though and closing back a week which caused a bit of a scheduling issue for us. Nevertheless, we would have no problem recommending EG as a builder.
I would recommend EG Stoltzfus to a friend.
Yes. Our experience was exactly as described and set forth by EG. There were no catches or
hidden fees and everyone was reliable and forthright.
EG Stoltzfus had knowledgeable, friendly staff walking us through every step of the process. From the design to walkthroughs to final paperwork we felt valued and EG Stoltzfus shared in our excitement of building a new home. We are very pleased with the quality of work done and willingness to make sure we are 100% satisfied. We absolutely recommend EG Stoltzfus to anyone looking for a quality home.
