18 months after building a townhome with Cothran Homes – we experienced two water spots from a roof leak on the upstairs bedroom ceiling after a rain storm. I called Cothran who hid behind the 1-year warranty and also the HOA. They said the roof is the responsibility of the HOA. I called the HOA who immediately sent a roofer. The roofer reported no evidence of water leaking from the roof, however, it was 10 days after the leak happened. The HOA was quick to take the position that there was no problem and dismissed the issue. We had the same roofer come back when it was raining who identified two different leaks – one around a vent pipe and another area where they replace some shingles.

The bill was $600, which the HOA refused to pay since thy did not approve the roofer returning a second time. The builder has also gone silent on my email communications.

For those prospective customers considering Cothran Homes, I would think twice. It is unfortunate that Cothran took this position, but if this is how they treat new customers with this issue then you should consider another builder. There are builders out there who stand behind their work.

The convenience and proximity of the shopping centers to the community are very decent. It is very commuteable. From this standpoint, I rate them a five.

We love Christian and Matt; they are the best of the best. This is our 2nd home with Cothran Homes, and we chose them again.
