Terrible customer service. Poor craftsmanship. Poor installation quality. Everything thing about this experience has been extremely disappointing !
My windows are good I just felt that Universal Windows doesn’t communicate very much which left me confused when there was pretty signup time between appointments
My windows have cold draft every where. I had to have someone from universal window come to inspect. I had to wait 2 weeks.
The attention to detail was amazing also the product itself Works flawlessly
Overall experience was wonderful and a smooth transition to new windows
The representative saw the type of windows I wanted for the kitchen and he viewed the window style. Did not say he could not do the style, now I can't bring my bbq grill cord through the window as new window is not the style in the kitchen.
our doors were poorly installed several years ago. We recently pulled up flooring to
Ordered in September - wasn't finished being installed until February
I have used them twice now, great company
Very straightforward.
The process of purchasing a window was quick. We put in an order on 12/10/ 25. The window along with the subsequent molding and damaged wood repair was completed on 1/30/26. The window which is 6 foot x 3 foot was beautifully installed by Ryan. Thank you, we are very pleased!
Excellent explanation, timely installation.
sales person was ok, however the installers were terrible with customer service. I'm hopeful, the windows were installed correctly. Universal did send out a person to clean up. This isn't the first survey I have completed. An agent did call me relative to the survey. She said I would be receiving a 50 dollar amazon card, I haven't received the card. I called office inquiring about the card that person said I would be receiving the card. Still haven't received the card.
Everything was done professional .
Windows look amazing
Ease of financing, measuring and install. Also, great communication. The only thing I dislike is the “sales pitch.” just come in with the price not the “let me call and use some favors.”
Installation was completed much sooner than expected and done. I thought it would take all day but it only took a few hours. It was extremely cold outside. The two men who did the work were very efficient, doing quite well considering the weather.
Better consistent communication
Still waiting for repair service to my quartz countertop since a tool was dropped on it over 7 weeks ago! We received the incorrect trim twice and before it got in we had two heavy rain storms and snow which created a water spot on our living room ceiling. It was repaired . Still waiting to hear what the manufacturer id number is so I can put on the 2025 required IRS form to get the energy credit.
Yes i will recommend universal windows direct to my family and friends.
work done in a short time I was so amazed with just the 2 of them
Universal has honored the transferable warranty and helped with a couple problems at my home even though I did not install the windows. Their commitment and attention to customer impress me
That was really expensive.
The windows and supervisor support were good. The not-so-good was promises that were made to use lead-safe practices (the guys who showed up to do the work were unaware that this request had been made multiple times to literally everyone I talked to at your company). Crew was late without letting us know - they said they tried to call but didn't leave a voicemail and phone didn't indicate they tried to call. When I complained about these things the supervisor was helpful, which was nice.
Installed wrong design. Installers said they would report this back to the company and never did.
From the time we met with the salesman (Marty Larkin) to the finish of the install, everyone was friendly and professional. The install itself went flawlessly. We had 10 windows replaced on a cold (32 degree) day. The install took abouit 3 hours, a lot less then we expected. There was no mess left behind for us to clean up. We would highly recommend Universal Windows Direct. "We Love Our Windows"
Great product. Installed promptly and efficiently.
Kenny and Jim, were great, helpful and courteous!
Great quality, great service.
.....Lower prices
No matter who I spoke with, whether it was over the phone or in person, everyone was very kind, knowledgeable, and personable!!
Good price, product and wkrm
I like that they finished the job
Not until my windows can be fixed properly
Very professional and quickly resolved a hiccup which was not their fault. I am thrilled with the job done and the product. Thank you!
Easy process all the way through
The windows are attractive and functional.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! When it comes to Universal Windows Direct, I would not recommend them even in the slightest. We have had so many problems with them, it’s just sad that they call themselves a reputable company with an A+ business rating. After ordering windows to be installed in our house, the company sent someone out to measure and sad it would take up to 12 weeks to get the windows in, for which I understood as they were custom windows. However, this is when the issues began to start. When they called in November to say that the windows were in and my husband scheduled an appointment to get them installed on December 3rd. Then about twenty minutes later, they said they needed to cancel because the permit was not ready, which you would think they would already have known before calling to schedule the appointment. On the 3rd of December, the day the window installers were scheduled for, but canceled, we both got a call that the installation people are outside and no one is home. Of course no one was home, they canceled the appointment. No one told us they were coming and my husband called the people back to ask them what was going on and told them they had cancelled due to the permit not being ready, then asked if it even was indeed ready, which they still did not know. So, he rescheduled for December 16th only for the installers not to show and then called saying they got held up on a prior job and would not be coming. Then he rescheduled again, with them finally showing up only to leave because it was windy, which my husband video taped to show it was not. Plus, the workers did not speak English, so it was difficult to communicate with them. My husband had to call the regional person, because he could not get hold of anyone else. He promised compensation and that Tyson, who oversees the installation, will keep us informed. After all that the installers finally do come and install the windows thanks to my husband getting hold of the regional person, but in the process tore a screen and left the stickers on. My husband had to call many times to get someone back in to fix the screen, since they said it would be replaced, check to make sure the windows were installed properly, and to take the stickers off. He did end up getting hold of someone who was to come January 15th, but then someone called stating the technician was sick and not able to make it. At this point, I just wanted to be done with this company, after all the hassle of everything, it was hard to believe we were having this many issues with them, and that there was only one technician that could come out. On Monday January 19th, someone did come out and fix the screen, check the installation of the windows, and took off the stickers. This was only after my husband once again called many times to get someone to come out and they told him someone would call back and never did. I highly doubt that unless we call, they will be giving us any kind of compensation for all the stress they have put us through. The only saving grace was my husband, who I am so grateful for taking all the time and effort to make sure the windows were installed, which I do not think he or anyone should ever have to do. Overall, I am glad the windows were finally installed; however, I still would NOT recommend this company to anyone. In fact, if someone asked about a company to get windows from, I would tell them to stay far away from this company. I just hope that this review helps someone out there to not go through what we did and to find anybody else to install their windows.
I dont like the fact that air was pouring through my windows in two years of install at the tune of $8,000.00
We’re delighted with the window turnout. The crew was hard working and as we had questions they were kind and explained well! We love the draft free feeling. Thanks UWD
easy to work with everyone was so nice exaplained eveerything very well.
i appreciated that the sales presentation was not a high pressured sales pitch.
There are several major concerns: The salesman (John) really did a great job presenting your company and the service you provide. However, after signing the contract with John, your company's quality customer service started to decline.
(1) John indicated that current blinds on window would need to be removed before window installation and then reinstalled after new window installation. John indicated that someone would come out and do a final measurement for the new windows. However, neither John nor measurement guy) told us that the current blinds would not fit after new window installation. I feel both should know the product that they are selling customers well enough to look at a window and tell. I (Gloria) specifically asked John during his sales pitch about the blinds. In other words, we have had to incur an additional expense because the blinds will not work with the new windows. Refund the cost of new window shades.
2) In over 30 years, this is first installation service that has left us confused. One piece of paperwork states, "Installer #1: Quality Restorations and Installer #2: Jim Gibbs. The installer on the invoice has Mark Revels' name. On January 5th, two Hispanic men showed up to install windows. The head guy spoke limited English to us but was pleasant and relied on nonverbals for communication. We only heard the second guy speak Spanish. They did not use precautions with our hardwood floors nor did they do a final walk-through at the end of the installation. We were not given a demonstration of how the windows worked. I (Gloria) did ask for them to look at the caulking on each of the windows. The assistant had done a poor job of this and had touch-up his work. At the end installation, the lead guy gave us two papers. One was for final payment and the other was evaluation. My husband was quite considerate on the evaluation. Did not feel comfortable with the installer asking for payment. The company needs a better system for payment.
3) We were told windows would be ready for installation 12-14 weeks after the complete measure. We got a call from Tyrone (Warehouse Manager) telling us windows were in on December 16 and he needed payment (2nd installment). Tyrone wanted to do installation right before Christmas and we couldn't allow this because of holiday guest. Tyrone indicated we would be charged a warehouse fee, if the work wasn't done immediately. Tyrone was very disrespectful during the conversation, even telling me not to get my "blood pressure up". We spoke with a lady (customer service) in regards to our conversation with Tyrone. Tyrone later called an apologized for his rudeness. It appears that your company has significant problems with customers ordering windows and failing to pay. Some of your representatives have the weakest customer service skills when trying reach out for payments.
The windows themselves are very good. They’re very well-made and and look great. However, the patio doors are a little difficult to open and close. They’re supposed to get easier with time I hope so. And the actual Windows themselves are a little smaller than the original ones and I’m sure that’s because of their design. It doesn’t cause a problem just something I noticed that wasn’t mentioned when we talked to the salesman. and the patio door width is smaller, which makes the actual entrance smaller and the threshold itself is a little higher. You have to e tea careful step up.
When I was pricing windows, universal windows fit my budget best. Since I've used the lifetime warranty, I can confirm they will fix the issue, however, they've begun charging for the initial service visit, which wasn't part of my initial contract.
It was also near impossible to get a hold of a person who wasn't associated with the sales portion of the company. I had to repeatedly leave a message and wait for a call back which hopefully came at a convenient time.
All that said, I've had my windows for 8 years and this is the first time I've had to use the warranty, and the issue is fixed with no money paid for parts and labor.
Everything
Installation was sloppy and required multiple follow on visits for correction.
For the amount I paid to have my windows installed I should not have had any problems the windows downstairs were all not staying up and when I called you all I was told to have them all checked due to if you had to come back out it would be a charge
The window quality is on par!!
Problems with installation that have not been resolved
