I would only recommend to family and friends if I trusted the contractors. Top Tier exceeded all expectations.

I know there are multiple crews for TopTier and so others may have had a better experience than I did. (On a positive note, the roof looks great.

What I didn't like...
The old roofing was thrown down on the lawn on tarps around my house and then wheelbarrowed to the dumpster...this lead to tons of nails dropping all around the house (versus the workers throwing the old stuff directly into the dumpster from the roof). it also killed grass because the tarps were on the ground for a couple days due to the amount of plywood they found to be replaced). Do I care about the grass, no, it will turn green again. The nails made me very nervous as I have a dog and grandchild that play in the backyard. I found 15 nails in about 30 minutes. Becky had them come back and take a couple good sweeps and clean them up.

When they first arrived, I asked Jim where the crew go to the bathroom. He said in the dumpster. There was a woman crew member who asked to use my bathroom multiple times and a man on the 2nd day as well. This made me uncomfortable but I could not say no. I think they need to make other accommodations when they need to use a bathroom.

One of the crew, didn't realize there was no plywood on the roof, and stepped into one of the bedroom ceilings. I had blown insulation everywhere. They eventually starting working on it the next day and stopped at 8 pm and returned the next day to finish it. It looks good but I had plenty of places to vacuum the blown insulation they missed in drawers and under dressers.. I had to go to the laudramat to wash decorative pillows, the dry cleaners to wash comforters and someday when I have more time, I'll purchase bed pillows to replace the ones that had insulation on them.

Sorry, not quite done yet...

They had to come back and fix some dripped paint on the side of my house, said it was removed but I can still see it.

They had to come back and fix a coaxial cable the following Monday as it was hung over the face of the fascia, it looked ridiculous and it was a communication issue between Jim and the crew as we know Jim knew what had to be done.

Although things were eventually made right, I had to do a lot of waiting for things to be done / fixed and it couldn't have been a busier time for me to have to be here to ensure things were done.

Price

They arrived on the time line that they quoted me , they cleaned up the yard very well and they were ready to answer any questions I had , even up to yesterday.. The used a magnetic device to look for nails , and I haven't seen any nails since the installation. And nails were an issue both for me and for the guy who maintains my lawns.

The experience I had with Top Tier Roofing

Top Tier was the first and only company I needed to interact with prior to moving forward with our roof replacement. Professional and knowledgeable about their products and did not try to oversell their services. When I received the quote for the roof replacement it was extremely detailed and very reasonably priced. I ended up recruiting two of my neighbors who were interested and when you view our homes the workmanship stands out. I'm very satisfied.

Efficient, prompt, and personable staff

I met with several roofing contractors before scheduling the job with Top Tier. Top Tier's estimator did a careful inspection of the roof including from inside the attic to assess decking condition, evaluation of soffits condition and overall ventilation modifications needed. Organization and efficiency of the crew throughout the installation and cleanup was very well managed.

Personell, price and quality of the work completed

First, I was almost completely unable to communicate with the crew on site because of language barriers. Second, removed trim on my house was not replaced in good condition. When that repair and cleaning of the trim was to be addressed I was not told when crew members would be on my property and on the second visit crew members did not seem to understand why they were there and I was completely unable to communicate with them. Third, when I asked to have areas of the house looked at for what looked like improper installation I felt like my concerns and requests were not heard, but that I was told what would happen as a remedy. I was asked at the end of that visit if I had any more concerns but it was after I was already told how my concerns would be addressed. For example, it was agreed that the center venting could be addressed. I wanted the center venting on the top of the roof reinstalled, not a few more nails added. It still does not look correctly installed and I’ve received comments from people stating this. It’s embarrassing and I wish I would have gotten a job that looks more professional.

I did recommend Top Tier to a neighbor who was thinking of going with Comfort. I swayed him over a conversation in our road one night. He said he'd put my name as the referral. I never received a $200 referral check that the project manager told me I would if someone signed with you. Was that just a marketing ploy?

Amazing! Top Tier Roofing is top notch. We had an absolutely horrible experience with another roofer who claimed to be insured, but didn’t include the insurance information with their contract. I can’t share their name due to current legal action. The owner, Joe, and the manager both came to our home and made sure to protect our roof from further damage. They repaired all of the shoddy work done and replaced our roof quickly and efficiently. We are extremely pleased with the work, but even more so with the people. They went above and beyond to help us. I can’t say enough about their professionalism, sincerity and competence.
