I never feel judged. All the employees are very friendly. The facility is always very clean.
I liked everything about my experience, from the darling welcoming of the friendly people at the front desk to the excellent instruction by Beth, to her playlist, to the friendliness of the other participants….I’ve never enjoyed a second of organized exercise before. Thank you so much!
Friendly people and good environment.
I like the warm friendly staff. L’ance Regnum-Rouge gave me the best overview and helped me with all of my questions about strength building. Very courteous, kind and knowledgeable.
Parking is a problem
The layout is awful. Blame the architect
Great classes included in monthly membership fee
Convenient, not usually jam packed with other people.
I have recommended Briggs YMCA to many.
Affordability, good service, variety of options for classes.
The pool was broken on day 1 of the swim classes and we received no prior notification
Very nice facility.
Good value for the cost (even though my costs are pd. by insurance). Good equipment, in good shape -- all except for the resolution on tv's on treadmill & Stat. bikes. Facilities are in good repair & are clean. Broken equipment is repaired in efficient manner.
At the Briggs YMCA in Olympia, WA, the first person I see is Devonte, at the front desk. He makes my day by greeting me by name and making me feel welcome.
Wish it was open just a little bit later on week days
Briggs is very crowded and has been getting more and more so. Now it's summer, and the crowds are even greater. Equipment in the weight room is constantly misused or misplaced. Anything portable will get moved, which is fine if people put it back where it belongs. Unfortunately, that is often not the case. Many new members are unfamiliar with the rules, 'gym etiquette', or where equipment is stored. Perhaps signing would help. Also, perhaps you could use large signs to discourage people from sitting on equipment and scrolling on their phone, texting, or whatever else they are doing.
Mornings from about 8:30 to 9:00 are particularly crowded, especially in the parking lot. Folks exiting the 8am classes do not vacate the building and parking by 8:45 when the 9am crowd is arriving. The lot is completely full, with patrons circulating the lot looking to pounce on any spot being vacated by someone walking out in the parking lot. People trying to leave can actually get blocked in by incoming patrons stopped very close to the spot so that another car can't come along and ace them out. I've heard people complaining about having to park up by the north circle. This might be okay for some, but it's a problem for disabled and many seniors, of which you have many in the am using the pool, classes, or the weight room. Also, parents/grandparents with a bunch of little kids have to navigate the busy lot with cars all over the place. And the situation, of course, has gotten even worse with school out and swim lessons, etc.
Stand out in the parking lot some Monday morning at 9am, and you'll see what I mean. I don't know if you receive a lot of similar comments, but I sure hear a lot of complaining from members, especially long time members. People have told me that they couldn't find close parking so they just left. You can't build more building or add parking. And the situation is getting worse with the neighboring propery owner blocking off the driveways with jersey barriers and the new commercial building scheduled to go up across from the dentist office.
Perhaps it's finally time to consider staggering and spreading out classes, pickleball, lessons, etc. throughout the day
The programming is great, the staff is friendly, the facility is always clean, and the atmosphere is welcoming.
Very friendly and family oriented
I've had a great experience, staff is phenomenal, and I have already recommended it to others!
There's a sense of community but no one cares what you are doing or how you look. The place is kept clean and organized.
Parking is difficult and class schedules are not convenient for my life.
Friendly staff
Many places are cheaper with more selections
There is a lot of competition for the machines downstairs (for example the lat pulldown machine is always busy-- we need more than one) while meanwhile, most of the ellipticals upstairs remain unused. We also need more than two stair steppers-- one is almost always broken, and there is stiff competition for them. The way space and resources are allocated doesn't seem to match actual needs and popularity of various equipment. The floors are never clean. For the multipurpose rooms, it's important that the floors be cleaned regularly because people are lying down in there doing various exercises for classes-- it's unpleasant to find big chunks of mud and hair all over the floor the minute you sit on your mat.
Friendly staff. Love the sauna!
