Great customer service, friendly staff, clean facility, lots of classes
All the associates are very friendly and helpful.
Pleasant place to exercise
I think the Boomers class led by Angela Cannon is the most excellant way to gain strength and balance. Her class is so popular we run out of weights. I
There are 1-2 members that take up a lot of "space" when they are in the gym. Loud grunting, banging the weights down, and lately I've noticed there is a lack of personal hygiene that fills the entire gym with an odor. I don't say this to judge them, but it makes for a much less welcoming environment for the rest of us. I don't believe a family gym is a place for people to be slamming weights down, and grunting loudly to disturb folks working out nearby.
I love the instructors!!
The locker room is cold & the floor is always wet, the pool area is cold & drafty.
More benches would be nice.
An additional clock that’s visible from the sink area would be so nice.
Wall mounted hairdryers would be a great addition, especially in the winter months. It’s not easy going out side to the parking lot in freezing weather with wet hair.
Lots of choices for exercise, friendly staff, clean, big asset to community
I like how welcome I feel. I like the camaraderie between the employees and the guests. It's always clean and there are lots of different activities that I can do. Where are you going and what are you smelling?
The Y is super clean, staff are friendly, professional and helpful, and the facility has everything needed to make progress on physical fitness and good health.
Pool water/area are too cold.
They say it is "supposed" to be 84, but if they actually check, it is lower.
Kids are allowed to purposely splash, and I have seen them blow their nose in the pool.
When I attend the Shelton why it is usually because the pool at the Olympia Y is closed
Friendly staff who are constantly cleaning.
I feel the scheduling for classes and drop in programs could be improved
You need different seats in the cycling class for older people. It’s like sitting on a stick. Good grief, who invented those? There in one fuller seat that I was not allowed to use because my fanny wasn’t BIG enough!!!! I would purchase my own fuller seat, if I could.
I love the Shelton Y, but its frustrating how many classes cost extra. If you want to offer small group classes then just restrict the number that can register. We already pay $100 a month for our family to be members, I shouldn't be restricted on taking classes because it costs even more.
I encourage friends my age to join because of the great classes geared for us and the fellowship.
I have so much fun at the Shelton Y. I do all the yoga classes, Kelly is so knowledgeable, professional but also personable. The cycling sing a long is a hoot. If The Boomer class gets any more popular I feel like we are going to run out of room. Maybe have Angela train another trainer and add a class here and there. I have enjoyed Brad and Camille also.
The lifeguards and front desk personnel are friendly and seem to be well trained. I have also made friends with the maintenance crew. I think the management team is awesome. If I had any recommendations it would be to add a training class on using the Y app and Y 360. I feel like announcements of cancellations and new opportunities are sometimes missed. All and all the Y has a huge presence and impact on my life, in a positive way. Thank you for all you do.
front counter people are very friendly and welcoming and helpful.
More open swim hours for kids and families is all I want from both locations. The metrics on the rest of this survey are barely relevant to me outside that.
Bone density for Boomers is a hugely popular class and we don’t have enough bar bells for everyone. Please buy more.
Friendly staff, great instructor for Boomer exercise class, good variety of classes, welcoming atmosphere.
I love everything about this place. The employees are awesome. They are so friendly and nice. I especially like Makayla. She makes me feel special.

I like that the Shelton Y welcomes older aduts who want to reduce their risk of falling. Movement and strength building is important to older adults.
Friendly staff, clean and bright facility, modern equipment.
My first time at the Y. Love the Tai Jj Quan Class. The staff is so friendly.
great facility, a variety of programs and classes, excellent staff
Friendly and inclusive, clean facilities, and lots to do.
I enjoy the friendly front desk folks always greeting with a great hello and a a “have a nice day” when leaving. I am grateful for the great personal trainer I have worked with and the knowledge I gained through the experience. I am taking a Tai Chi class and it is great and the Brain Training class was was full of useful information.
Out of the few options that we have in Shelton, this YMCA is not only fair priced, clean and friendly but also accessible.
I like the variety of exercise classes and the quality of instructors. Staff are very customer friendly.
Facility is clean and well lit. Dressing rooms are small but adequate. If you are new you must blend in and get your groove.
See Sense of Belonging below. Also, we don't appreciate subsidizing the membership fees for others just because we've worked really hard and have earned a salary that the Y thinks should be used to pay for certain other people's memberships.
I wish that there was a lap pool.
Facilities are clean, lots of programs available for the mature person, LGBTQ friendly.
Simply the best staff and facility
The Boomer class led by Angela is not only fun but is making a big difference in my health. I am getting stronger and healthier.
The YMCA is an amazing resource in our community. I encourage everyone to become a member.
It’s clean and new and has large spaces for big classes!
very efficient and clean and friendly
There is a lot of activities to do with my family and friends together
I like the variety of you classes and the friendly atmosphere of the staff. The parking is getting hard to find in the morning .. Be sure to keep Angela for her Booners class
Pool and pool area is getting too cold for me.
Also need music at the pool.
The locker rooms are very small and there is no where private to change which as a teacher in the area is problematic for me.
Welcoming, great programs and well run.
It offers more than other gyms in the area, though I really miss some of the options I had at the Kent Y.
I wish the locker rooms were larger. I wish staff would enforce the use of benches as lockers to store gear while working out and clean the locker rooms more regularly, including items left in lockers for long periods of time.
The front desk clerks do not seem very knowledgeable and often dont care to help. Working out in the gym is hard because its way to warm in there during the summer and the air is very stagnant.
It is a safe and inclusive space for me to take care of myself.
Website-finding classes- needs improvement. Also having to check in through the front desk ( waiting for people on the phone, etc) instead of just self check in with our fob. And then checking in at class ON PAPER.
