I would highly recommend Neil Kelly-Portland, and have provided a recommendation to David Thompson.
If having your kitchen demolished to the studs and reassembled in a much improved condition is your desire, give strong consideration to these folks. Outstanding team- gracious temperaments as well as expertise and skill.
Very prompt response and suggestions for different issues
I’m n time and very pleased to work with.
Overall, great results !
Neil Kelly took on the complicated and difficult project of foundation work and seismic upgrades for our 1908 bungalow. I especially want to shout out Wes, whose weekly status emails kept our progress and next steps always clear, and carpenters Elvo and Rodney, who were a pleasure to work with and who went above and beyond when the difficult work went on into the rainy and holiday season. Such major work on an old house came with many challenges, but with Neil Kelly I was always confident we would reach a successful conclusion. Thanks!
Excellent work and great company standards.
Very responsive and quick to schedule the repair
Professional work
You get what you pay for. good quality workmanship with good quality components which makes a happy customer.
Reliable, honest, and I can have the same Handyman (Larry) every time!
I had an exeptionally positive experience with Neil Kelly--I would absolutely recommend NK to anyone in the Portland area who is looking for a contractor. Cal and Christian were amazing--from the beginning until the end. They gave great advice, were always conscious of my budget, and were truly EXCELLENT communicators. I always had a lot of questions, and they always got back to me very quickly and patiently answered all of my questions. I truly appreciated how responsive they were. They both went above and beyond at all times--in addition to being so good at what they do and very knowledgable, they're both kind, decent people. It was a joy to work with them. At this point, I wouldn't trust anyone other than Cal and Christian with my home renovations!
We've hired Neil Kelly a couple times, once for an energy home audit and work resulting from that audit and more recently to replace our kitchen hood. They are always professional, on time and care about the quality of their work no matter how big or small the job. Their handyman services are competively priced but are superior to the competition on quality, customer satisfaction, clean-up, and communication.
I know we paid more with Neil Kelly, but every team member delivered an exceptional level of service that made that premium worth it. Every detail was handled with care and professionalism; they intercepted any potential hassles or concerns. We requested a challenging timeline and they delivered great quality within that restrictive schedule.
Job was handled professional from my initial contact requesting a scope and estimate to project completion. I also like the five-year construction and workmanship warranty.
Neil Kelly was able to deliver high quality timely work on my small concrete and window repair project via their handyman service. It is not the least expensive solution; their quality made it a worthwhile value for me. I would absolutely recommend Neil Kelly for homeowners in a similar situation.
Way, way over priced for the expected professional carpenters. Left a big gap that was very obvious. Kept saying they will come to correct the glaring hole and then kept postponing the date. A real disappointment. And I repeat- way over priced for the labor.
Neil Kelly has a great reputation and I used them again because of good prior experience. This time, the experience was mediocre. It took many emails to set up a first appointment for an estimate. Two visits were required for the estimate. The handoff from the first person to the second wasn't smooth. The work was done well - the project mgr and carpentry were great. After the work was done, it took many calls and emails to get the final cost and payment information. Several calls and emails to the billing office were not returned. Emals to the project manager haven't been returned.
Areas Of Satisfaction - When the project manager and carpenter arrived, they were very professional, friendly and informative. They were careful and concerned about keeping the work area clean inside the house. The project manager protected the safety of the carpenter by not allowing him into one crawlspace.
Great service and high quality work.
There was a time crunch with the expiring Federal Credits which caused some delays, but they got it done before the deadline and I am very happy with the product and install.
We have only begun this project. The men we have met with have been very professional and questions have been answered as needed. I will answer the questions that pertain so far.
The service did feel satisfying, but the communication could have been better. There were a few times that I tried to contact someone at the company and didn't hear back until I pestered or it had been several days.
Jeff was really patient and thorough with us and always picked up the phone!
good communication. quality work.
We’ve had two issues requiring “call backs” to fix errors. Both have been handled professionally. One remains open but I expect a good completion
Dave was the excellent carpenter who did the work at my house. He was skilled, polite and left the workspace very clean. Everyone else I dealt with at Neil-Kelly Portland was also excellent, from the original consultant Chris, to the project manager Wes to Monae in billing. Good communication overall, kept on schedule and the job was completed very quickly. Thank you!
I had a problem with rotting in the siding and trim on the south side of my house. The Neil Kelly consultant identified the problem areas and presented how they would fix them. I did not have the expertise to look at the wall and see subtle hints of areas that were rotting but the consultant did which I greatly appreciated. Communication was great between the project lead and myself as well as the lead carpenter and the consultant. Highly recommend Neil Kelly.
I got good help repairing a shower head section of bath tub because it leaked from a loose shower head. Wrapped in white tape stopped the leak. Then, a fellow from your organization replaced the 10 inch by 18 inch piece of plaster board, set in new plaster. I was given good instruction as to how to finish the plaster fill. Then, when it was dry, I was able to paint it to match the nearby wall, following tips by your painting fellow. So, based on this good service I'd be comfortable referring similar minor repairs to friends. You did this job for no cash payment, as it was in lieu of a gift of a no pay first step of a remodel job that I won in a drawing at the Eugene Executives Association, which Neil Kelly recently joined.
They did a good job and fixed everything that was scheduled.
Total attention to detail and follow-up. Met time table provided.
The overall experience left us extremely satisfied with the quality of work, the materials used, and the professionalism of all involved NK staff. The project turned out better than we anticipated and they turned a dated and useless ADU into a functional, attractive space. I would recommend them to friends and family without reservation.
The company did a full remodel of our house under the previous owner. That remodel was VERY WELL done and has stood up over the last 12 years. Everyone who comes into our home is impressed with the quality of craftsmanship.
This is why we selected Neil Kelly-Portland.
As expected, this project was completed beyond our expectations!
Reliable on all fronts, and I know that the project will be successfully completed to my satisfaction. I’m a repeat customer.
I really appreciate having NK be the overall manager of the different types of work involved in this complicated remodeling of one bathroom, part of another bathroom, and recarpeting stairs in an old house. NK checks out its trade partners well and communicates with them and me. I could not have tracked all this myself. To me this is well worth the additional cost. For instance, replacing an old shower/tub CANNOT be done easily or fast in old house. Damage was uncovered from how the original bathroom was built in the mid-1970s, damage that could not have been seen until tear-down. Not unexpected but you did a great job of fixing the old damage (dry rot, termite evidence) and ending up with a beautiful new bathroom, floor, vanity, modern toilet, etc. Replaced existing grab bars and added additional ones. You preserved a unique tiled alcove that provided indirect daylight to this daylight basement bathroom. The smaller amount of work in a different bathroom replaced a high dropped ceiling and translucent panels (bug catchers!) with clean simple ceiling, one ceiling fixture instead of 3 fixtures of 2 fluorescent tubes each.
The nature of the tear-down meant equipment vibrations loosened adjoining drywall. This was all secured well afterwards and repainted.
The different specialty crews were polite, friendly, professional, and competent. The demo and rebuild crew in particular went above and beyond in working long hours and sometimes late hours to do the task just right.
Your project designer worked hard to give me good suggestions for replacement items, some of which I resisted at first (like soft close toilet and soft close vanity drawers), but I then accepted and really like! He also gave a range of prices, for my sake. Your project manager also made good suggestions, including a combo grab bar/TP holder installed on the side of the vanity by the toilet. The rebuild crew added good reinforcement inside the vanity to support this. I think a lot of people of older age and mobility problems could use this.
Everyone we dealt with was extremely nice, they communicated well, and the craftsmen were very skilled.
The project is exactly what I expected from Neil Kelley.
It was a pleasure working with them.
We greatly appreciated the designers and engineers who worked closely with us to understand our needs, suggest the best solutions, helped us find the best appliances, and kept us up-to-date throughout the entire process. We also appreciated the amazing skill of the carpenter who put everything beautifully in place and the project manager who skilfully orchestrated the execution of the project.
From the first interaction we felt like we were getting honest and expert information. That continued all the way throughout our project.
NK is on the pricy side
Most of my friends are less in a position to hire contractors...
End-to-end solutions
Extremely professional. I would tell friends that while Neil Kelly is not the cheapest option, you get the quality and peace of mind that you pay for.
Any type of home repair is difficult and I'm aware of that. But this experience is not what I had hoped for. There is nothing horrific, but there is also nothing that would engage me to suggest this to anyone else.
Employees & Subcontractors - In terms of professional and courteous - yes for everyone.
Kind of obvious
They are always reliable.
We have used Neil Kelly services since 1982. Their representatives have always been responsible and pleasant to work with.
I would recommend on basis of previous experience with a number of other contractors. Absolute professionalism.
Neil Kelly provided excellent service, honest pricing, and kept us informed at every step of our home repairs.
I know there were a lot of moving parts but the install took a loooong time and I'm still waiting on final receipt of tax information and system manual.
