Lots of new equipment and locker room.
I like that there are plenty of treadmills, and there is almost always oneavailable. I also like the new E gym equipment, as it encourages me to do some different activities to help maintain muscle strength. I always felt kind of overwhelmed by the plethora of other equipment and didn’t know what to do next.
I like the availability of the equipment I need and I love the pool on the 4 foot side because it makes it so easy to get in and out of the pool via the steps. The lifeguard on the side where there are swim lanes did not realize that I could not get in and out of the pool easily because I’m in rehab at the moment. That should be addressed.
Clean place and friendly representatives
Childcare for workouts I couldn’t work out without it.
I worked at the YMCA for about 15 years when it first opened up it was a very positive environment for my children when they were young I know have joined with silver sneakers and my grandchildren are now able to spend time with me and I love the idea of being able to swim in my exercises and keep myself healthy as I have recently sent my retired
Joe great job customer service!
Many people attend yoga, their phones go off during class, they come in late, and talk during class. Yoga should be peaceful and relaxing in a calm dark comfortable environment. The room we use is not any of that.
Community support and stregth
Our kiddo is thriving at camp. He loves the structure and creativity in the programming. And he gets to practice his swim skills for an hour every day, which has improved his confidence around water. We love this camp and have recommended it to several friends already!
Much too crowded. Sometimes I waste 30 mins looking for a parking space
I think it is the best YMCA in town!
Not enough volunteers to run some of the sports programs. Some staff members had to be coaches to run certain sports. You can tell the staff wasnt knowledgeable in that specific sport they were coaching. So the children didnt learn anything from the sport. Children were not able to play and have fun within the sport due to lack of motivation, preparation, and lack of teaching. It was disappointing that there wasn't a strong coach to lead them or guide them properly. Its not the staff members fault that they didn't have the knowledge to coach but it sucks that the ymca didn't have anyone else to do so. I know the ymca uses volunteers so it does make it an obstacle in getting help. The ymca vets their volunteers well. However maybe too well to the point its affecting getting coaches in to coach team sports in a way that allows the child to enjoy their activity especially when the parents are paying $90 or more.
The James P Gills Family YMCA is a beautiful facility with staff that are both pleasant and helpful.
There is a perception that changes are made without thinking how it will affect the members.
More in water exercise classes
The process to join was fast and easy. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Lots of suggestions for workouts and classes. Its a great place for me.
.
Feels like family. Always welcomed and kind .
It’s a home away from home
Very friendly and welcoming
I've actually already recommended it to someone to take their child for the summer to aide in keeping their daughter busy and happy this summer ☀️
For the most part this is a good program. Only "complaint" is that a coach, with a team in an age group 8-9, 10-12, etc., should not referee a game in the same age group. Understanding that the Y relies a lot on volunteers, a couch should not ref in the age group he/she has a vested interest in. Otherwise, this program is very good!
Love the family feeling with instructors and group participants even though I don’t know everyone.
Clean, Friendly, Safe
has gotten very crowded. New fitness/weight equipment very large; made for tall people. Have found that many of the machines are awkward to use because of my short stature.
