I always feel welcome when I enter the YMCA. I also feel rhe energy of the instructors is contagious! Thank you for always welcoming my husband and I who have been seasonal members for 6 years.
The silver sneakers classes on M,W,F at noon are way too crowded. With snowbirds here, as a local resident I have to be at the classes a half hour early. Also, one of the instructors needs to turn the music on and talk less during the exercises.
I like the whole experience, the programs they offer, the Y itself; but, most of all it's the wonderful staff and other Y members who make the real difference. Thank You
I have attended this Y for a dozen years. I have had many great friends and staff and directors who inspired me to recommend it but find that my exposure to an adult fitness class has made me reevaluate of how much I would recommend it.
Love Wilda’s SS classes and chair yoga!
Great classes pool gym kids programs one problem yoga class is too small for the 40-50 people in Monday and Friday classes
I'm taking the Enhanced Fitness class, which is a somewhat regimented class which requires our attendance, as a opposed to just showing up when you can. When I first started the class several years ago, the instructors were skilled in what & how the class was to be taught, at which time, I encouraged many of my friends to attend. Now, it seems they (the Y) don't really care whether the instructors know the guidelines or not. We are told that we are not to miss more than 9 classes or we may be ineligible to attend the next 16 week class and should make an effort to attend, but with some of the instructors (which tend make up their own routine), many of us feel like it's not worth the effort to come to class. For example, we can "march in place" at home. I know Enhanced Fitness has guidelines for their program, as it should, but other than Dominique, who explains why it's important to do a particular exercise and why it's important to do it right as opposed to what happens when you do it wrong. I think that if we are encouraged to make the effort to come to class, that the Y should make an effort to have trained instructors to teach such a class.
Lots of offerings
All brand new equipment, easy check in, lots of parking.
I love the coffee, my friend and I love to sit at the table have a nice cup of coffee
I really enjoy the classes offered at the Y. The only problem I have is there are two many people in the class rooms. People can’t spread out. They’re on top of each other.
I have had to get weights from another room and I’ve gotten rude comments from other classmates that don’t want to share space.
Best bang for your buck when it comes to gym membership. Good program offerings, well equipped facilities and friendly staff. I also like the fact that I have access to use of facilities at other YMCA locations when traveling out of the area
The Y has great equipment and many classes that I enjoy.
The classes are to full. I don’t think the Y should take on any more people.
I like the new machines
Other places are cheaper and have saunas. Classes are often full so not a lot of options
Parking great + pool warm. Perfect.
great
The Y has lots of great classes and very helpful staff.
Silver sneakers classes are too crowded. Need more classes.
I’m referring to the center on 16th street in Palm Harbor. Since you updated the gym, it seems to be extremely crowded. I can’ always get a machine when needed. Also people sit on machines on their phones for long periods of time holding up the machine not allowing others to use it. It is your responsibility to stop that!
The machines are clean. The staff is amazing. The classes are absolutely the best with many different choices.
I do not like your new elliptic machine, loved the old ones. Why does your new tricep/bicep equipment start out with such a heavy weight?
verity of classes in the early morning, with great instructors
We entered the Y to join for a month under Silver Sneakers. The woman at the desk could not have been friendlier or more efficient. Much appreciated and makes our attendance at the Y so much easier die to quick check in.
staff
New tennis lights negatively affect tennis play
Parking is challenging.
Great pool for lap swimming
Everyone is so friendly and enjoy the classes excellent teachers and membership people were great
Great facilities, friendly staff. Family oriented as compared to ordinary gyms.
I find the 24hr sign up for the Body Pump class stressful. Also, sometimes there is not a mat or the right weights or weighted bars available for me.
The locker room upgrade was done but feels not well thought out - simple and inexpensive items were missed. No clock, paper towels only on one side of sink, no shelves in showers and the worst showers ever (zero pressure). Online pool schedule is wrong more than it is correct. Again - simple things.
I feel at home there.
I believe the name if the woman who helped me was Theresa. She was so knowledgeable in helping me find the best membership for me. It couldn't have been easier. My brother and his wife are going to join upon their arrival next week per my recommendation! Theresa is the best!
I enjoyed the Silver Sneakers class. George made it fun so the time went by quickly.
Wilda of chair yoga is wonderful. I really appreciated that Dolores Vacca recommended the Y and Wilda. When I drove in, the sign says $50 if you recommend a new member. Finally got that to happen, but she has to buy something in order to get a CREDIT of $50. Sign should say Credit so it is not misunderstood. We were both embarrassed.
The monthly prices gives you access to pretty much all the classes, the pool and fitness center.
Faciity is top notch. And staff is so good and friendly
The employees are informative and friendly, and the PHYMCA is very well kept.
Excelent Facility
I love our local Y. I love the people, the location, and the kid zone. My only complaint is that the group fitness classes have really been lacking lately. Body pump, combat and hot yoga are great classes. Pump is nearly impossible to get a reservation for and hot yoga is packed mat to mat. We used to have additional 9:30/9:45 pilates or barre classes to choose from but now there aren’t any alternatives. At this time of year we have 3 spaces for group fitness and I really don’t think we are utilizing them well enough. I’m not sure if it’s a lack of instructors(because it seems like we have lost so many good ones to other gyms) or for another reason but honestly considering joining fitness360 because they have more class options and instructors. Jessica, Belle, Chrissy, and Cameron are fantastic but Wilda’s classes are geriatric. I’m really hoping more classes will be added to the schedule soon!
Itis a good value
Love the pool and classes. Wish you had more spin classes.
Cancel the Wednesday "finning" class. One or two of the three lanes already occupied by the water aerobics class 6 days per week can easily be utilized for "finning" during the water aerobics sessions.
Been going here for 20 years.
Staff and other members are helpful and friendly. You are doing a great job!
Generally speaking I would recommend the Y, but am very disappointed in the lack of interest for the Pickleball group and condition of the courts and nets. It’s a shame one of our group had to sew up the gaping hole in the net that has been there for months. Requests have been made to replace the nets but fall on deaf ears.
Great place, just way too pricey when you have $10 memberships elsewhere.
Always helpful!!
