I have recommended it to friends and I like it well enough that I have joined the Y in VA as well.
Great instructors, especially the one who lead body pump 7/1/26 !
I was very hesitant to go the YMCA in Palm Harbor 2 weeks ago. I am sure glad I did! From the first day I have felt like I belong there. The staff is so laid back, friendly and welcoming. It has been five years since I’ve really gone out and done anything so this was a big step. I know I have somewhere to go and start moving again. I am starting with the silver sneakers classes and some of the weight machines and it feels so good. Why because the atmosphere and people there are awesome.
Water Aerobics instructor are amazing
Friendly atmosphere
Parking was readily available and there was ample room on the pool deck for everyone.
Our son loves swimming daily-- has made so much improvement on this, met so many new friends and is excited to go to camp
My daughter has come for 2 years now while lis is very nice with the daily /weekly update it’s an auto message that does not provide new information except a dress up theme and ice flavors . Which is nice to get an update on one hand but it’s nothing I didn’t read previously. And this year there seems to be less staff less structure and more incident forms
Well managed, beautiful environment, great classes, nice equipment
Hours are very convenient. Close to home. Lots of activities for my camper to do.
At first our special needs child had a rough first day, the week following took some adjusting but because of the camp director we feel really grateful to have a fun camp for both our children to attend. We are so grateful for Lis Auker the Camp Director. Also, the support staff is so kind. Ray specifically helps my son with special needs throughout the day & I am so grateful to the staff for their efforts that helps both my children make wonderful memories at camp. Lis goes above & beyond to help the families & make camp fun for the children. She communicates multiple times a day via email with updates on camp activities & we so appreciate that! This year is our first year enrolling our children for camp & we are so happy with the program we hope to enroll next summer too. We have already referred our neighbors.
Piper was very nervous on her first day and now is excited to go to camp. This Ymca does a fabulous job being inclusive while having so much fun. Very thankful for the staff here.
Lack of variety of classes, Barre, Tabatha, Core Body Balance only offered once per week. Not a lot of cardio options if you don’t like cycling and Body Combat (where I sustained a serious knee injury and therefore won’t participate further). I prefer group classes but find options are not great
I swim in the competition pool twice a week. Despite the 'swim etiquette' sign, many swimmers insist on a lane to themselves and expect swimmers to sit by the side of the pool and wait for an empty lane. I feel uncomfortable and unwelcome when I feel I have to beg for a lane. I realize the lifeguards do not wish to be involved, but there needs to be a better system.
Unfortunately, this was the most expensive and least favorite sport season we were a part off. No organization when it came to practices. The teenagers, aside from one, that were there helping with the development of the teams as well as keeping score were more concerned about their phones and socializing than actually doing something productive with the children. Their presence was useless. There was no actual coach for either of the teams
I want a place to swim, easier access old and hard getting in and out of pools and clean up the single restrooms, put up a shower
curtain, and hook to hang bag and towell
Slippery in there.
Clean and nice environment
Greatest YMCA ever! I've gone to YMCA's across different states and counties amd I've never felt so at home as with this one. Everything flows and is very inviting.
I have utilized the Y to maintain a physical condition and the medical results have been validated positively! 👍👏🫶🤗
I am an asthmatic type 1 diabetic...and old. I joined the Y several months ago and the deep water exercise program has helped improve my energy level plus doing it with other people makes it a social event as well. I have joined the book club which has the potential to help my mental acuity I brought several boxes of cereal for your food drive which made me feel part of the solution rather than just bemoaning the state of our society. The Y has given me a lot...thank you.
The Y is an American institution that should be supported forever. I have told everyone we know about the YMCA which offers folks so many different things to do .
The Y offers many and various activities for everyone

The big pool has wonderful hours. I would like to see the family pool be open early in the morning. I like to power walk in the pool very early before the sun gets hot, like starting at 6:30 am. Other ladies want more hours for the family pool.
There are so many activities and people you have to love it and make friends! Something for everyone !
We signed up so that my son could learn to swim. I was called a couple of hours before his first lesson and told he was the only one in the class and they would have to change our lesson day/time. Now the time doesn’t work as well. Also, the teacher is really not good. They throw rings and do bobs. Katina could have done his lesson at the scheduled time, but put him in a big class where he won’t learn to swim at all. Very disappointed.
We are members, and our daughter and her children are visiting for a month while our son-in-law finishes up his last month in England (US Air Force). We purchased membership for all of them plus swimming lessons for the youngest grandchild. The swim lessons got changed, and our daughter had a really tough time with the schedule due to the change. She asked if there was any way she could pay for individual instruction. No. She was taking our grandson for open family swim and lessons and the instructor felt bad about them getting jerked around and gave James twenty minutes of individual instruction. It just seems that things are not organized and it’s very frustrating. Being a military family and moving from England to Florida is difficult enough. Learning to swim while living in Florida is paramount!
I’m visiting from out of state and wanted to attend class for 5 weeks. Extremely helpful staff
More classes later on the weekends would be good. I would allow for an easy way to “pause” membership as needed. Sometimes in certain months I can’t get there as much as I’d like or at all. Thank yoy
To be honest with you I’d come to the ymca more but your lifeguards are honestly ridiculous
I understand safety I do but when you see a child who can swim , why put the child thru the ringer .
I left the other day because one of the lifeguards would not allow my granddaughter who’s 8 not swim unless she was tied to my hip . I found that very unreasonable.
You wanna test her go for it , honestly it’s really not worth it .
The staff member was very friendly and helpful
I love the Y however it is too bad so much has to be moved or canceled due to the children’s summer programs.
I have already raved about the beautiful facility and friendliness, as well as well equiped workout area.
Friendly and nice environment
Everyone i friendly and ready to answer questions. They greet you when you come in and ask how you are doing when you leave. I wish their shallow water arobics were later than 8 AM. For some reason the 2 days they have it, I tend to sleep in. Go figure. Lol
Kerry showed and explained the machines function and application to the buddy
We all (people in my classes) get the feeling our input, requests & feedback are not welcomed, valued or listened to at all. Emails with requests get little or no response or constructive answers. We get a lot of “we’re working on it” or “we’ve had a meeting”…..then nothing & no changes made.
Examples: 1. slippery tile floors in ladies locker room causing falls/injuries
2. Overcrowded & dangerous pool class (mostly on Monday’s)
3. No crosswalk painted lines in front of entrance.
Everything is very clean and organized.
There are days when I don’t see any staff on the floor. Fan’s should be one every day.
Very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful
Its a great atmosphere, staff and members are friendly . Plenty of equipment little or no waiting.
Clean, lots of updated improvements!
classes are to crowded
Love Wilda’s Silver Sneakers classes.
The pool is dominated by swim teams.. and they take the prime hours during the week and in weekends. I work all the time so I can’t come in until after work, but it’s never available until 7pm!!! 3-7 is the prime swimming time for working folks yet it’s not available. Perhaps the kids should do 5-9pm since they don’t go to sleep at 8pm like us old people! Also why can’t I at least get up in the weekends and go swim early, but no… I can’t swim until the heat of the day because wait for it.. the swim team dominated!!
Love the class offerings and everyone is so friendly!
I've visited numerous Y's while traveling. Palm Harbor's Y is cleaner, has friendlier staff and mich better workout equipment.
I worked out today, 26 May 2026. During my entire work out, one of the televisions in the main gym broadcast extreme far right wing propaganda on Fox News. Then in front of the men's room is a photograph of former Representative Chris Sprowls who supported Florida's infamous "Don't Say Gay" bill, which encourages LGBT youth to commit suicide. YMCA's decision to honor hate-filled bigotry is simply disgusting.
I always look forward to coming to the Palm Harbor YMCA.
I am greeted every time I go by the front people. Classes are great. Everything is very clean.
