Since our founding in Clearwater, the YMCA of the Suncoast has grown from its first facility in 1965 to its newest in Citrus County in May 2016. At the time it opened, the Clearwater YMCA was one of the largest YMCAs in the country. In more than 60 years, our footprint has not just grown, but flourished and made an impact on the communities we serve, especially in youth development. In the ‘80s, we introduced before- and after-school child care to our service areas. Today, we guide more than 60 school-age programs in your elementary and middle schools. Hide

Open the two new exercise classrooms as soon as possible but, still maintain the existing two exercise classrooms. There will not be enough exercise classes once winter season starts (snowbirds return). Currently, a few classes are packed or you can't get into but, when the winter season comes around, it will be even worse. In the past, I have let my membership lapse because it was so hard to get into exercise classes and there was a wait for a machine. I am hoping this will all change with the remodel being completed, then I'll consider encouraging people to join. I can already see improvement in the other areas of the Y so, am looking forward to the completion.

I’ve been using the water exercise programs and chair yoga for a few weeks. They help with back pains and mobility. The instructors are patient, caring, friendly and non-judgemental. Impressive facility.

I joined mostly to do laps in the pool. However, it seemed to always be close for an event or group during the times I can get to the Y. Also, the EGYM is always crowded.

I would. My mother in law is living with us and I wish we could add her to our membership instead of her having to pay the 40 dollars a month. She is 79 and doesn’t what to do all the available activities but likes the gym part.
