friendly people. usually good classes. Maybe not enough
The communication with canceled classes were lacking. Having to pack up 3 kids to get there and find out the class was canceled and no email notification. Happened quite often. Some of the classes were not very structured or teacher did not have any directions for activities for the kids.
All Kid Zone staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful
Equipment is usually available, kept clean by users. Friendly atmosphere.
Staff Friendly and understanding.
Plum street: Great - staff, hours, location, amenities.
Great instructors, clean facility, and super people to meet when you take classes
I joined to play basketball and swim after work. Because of your schedule, I can’t play basketball until 8-9 pm and I can’t swim until 7ish, assuming a lane is available. The membership is a bad value for adults that don’t want to use the weight/cardio rooms.
Very welcoming environment to all people!
My wife is already considering joining at the Briggs Y.
The times for programs offered are not friendly for working parents.
There is not enough parking for many of the classes. There has been times when I wanted to go to a class and I could not find a place to park so I did not get to participate.
Pls add more exercise classes at both Oly locations
The women's showers are awful. Inconsistent pressure, heat and timing. It makes showering after swimming difficult One shower goes off after 8 seconds (I counted). They're also dirty and the tiling is old and gross.
Parking is pretty bad. Often no parking available at 6pm
Staff is friendly and helpful at Briggs Y! The instructors always welcome people to class whether attendees arrive the first day of the session or mid session - everyone is welcome anytime and that means a lot to me. Thank you, Briggs Y!!!
Staff is friendly. Facility is always very clean. Nice variety of classes. I go because my husband needs the joints in motion class. I do enjoy lap swimming when I can.
I like the accepting atmosphere and class offerings for seniors.
Very friendly staff. They are very welcoming. Facilities more than adequate and clean.
Nice facility, friendly staff, a variety of classes
I'd like few more upright spinning bikes up in the cardio room. The two upright bikes are sometimes occupied.
Staff are always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The amenities and membership pricing are unbeatable. My only suggestion is that the YMCA please change out their mats/yoga mats in the small training room and weight room. The material of these are incredibly hard to wipe down and sanitize properly and they are falling apart and shedding foam pieces during use. Also, the floor of the small training room off the weight room consistently feels dirty.
My wife and I were life long YMCA members. In fact, my wife retired as a Y Director in Seattle. As of today we switched to the Tumwater Valley Athletic club for only $10 more a month and world less frustration. We now also have access to Thrive Lacey via Medicare Silver Sneakers at no cost to us.
At the Y, we both used the Cardio and Strength Training equipment as well as the pool. In all areas, a lack of enforcement of simple rules makes the Y a mediocre experience. Teenagers (and some seniors) sit on the strength machines for 10-20 minutes looking at their phones, only to become upset when cheerfully asked if we could work in a quick set. Phones are used and photos taken in the locker rooms. Thefts occur regularly. The pool lifeguards do not try to facilitate lane speeds during lap swim (i.e. slow, med, fast lanes) leading to chaos and conflict.
All of these issues could be easily remedied by YMCA staff gently intervening and coaching. That may be against the YMCA "way", though would help serious fitness seniors (such as my wife and I) have a more positive experience.
We wish the Y all the best in the future.
It's a little pricier than my local gym, and an extra 35 minutes away, but I love the variety of classes and the pool.
Friendly, welcoming, good variety of activities
