This Y is a wholesome accepting place. The Staff is great as are the Lifeguards.
Great facility with plenty of machines. Always clean and has very friendly staff
You don’t have any afternoon pickleball other than late noon Monday. Very disappointing
I try to exercise at one of the Olympia YMCA's every week. Our Y's have a great variety of classes, as well as pools, bikes, weight rooms and more!
The multi-purpose floor is often dirty to dance on at NIA. The trivia has become less than it was - it was fun - not so much now.
Two of asked if users on machines could be reminded not to sit endlessly on them using their phones. One sign at the end of the the room was put up- thanks but hardly seen be all.
I am disappointed that the gym is so light it is difficult to see the pickleball as it is coming towards me and it is extremely loud you can hear the banging of the balls in nearly every place in the Y. If they were to use the gym at the Shelton Y as a model it would be quieter and not as bright.
Women's shower tile area still dirty/ looks like it is not regularly cleaned with something that will take dirt and mold away. Embarrassing to take someone there. We all wear shoes so we are not in contact with the unsanitary conditions. I have almost brought my own scrub brush and comet to scrub the floors to show a difference.
Swim instructors are all very caring and patient. Jeff is wonderful with wiggly kids and explaining techniques in terms they get.
Parking is such a pain, especially on Tuesday nights. Please don't have kids sports activities timed with the after work gym schedule. Everyone is coming and going at the same time. It is getting worse not better.
cleanliness in bath room and maintinaince in general
Lack of communication with members and management. Front desk isn't aware of some of policys and changes of schedules. Unexpected changes signs should be much larger to notices..Needs alot of improvement in building up keep.equipments replacement. Need to ask members on any changes that will be making. It affects the members and needs their input, members are using. Pools schedule, closer on scheduled classes, you have member's email.locker room, need one more swimwear spindles. Takes to long to schedule repair also showers hooks, water power in stall not equal with other stalls.
I like Briggs Y FG or all the classes that are offered I don't feel excluded because of my age, I feel welcomed. They have something for everyone
Great offerings, friendly staff and lots of diversity!
Clean up the mold in the shower area and tiles leading into the pool area. Put some hanging shower racks inside the shower racks to hold shampoos, etc. The tiny soap dishes aren't big enough.
I have signed my son up for Tee Ball the last 2 months. The class description says that there will be practice hitting, baserunning. and fielding/catching. The instructor has only had the kids hit off the tee and doesn’t seem enthusiastic to be teaching the class. She is having other kids standing too close to the tee and getting hit with balls and bats due to not paying attention. I understand that this is not an organized team sport at the YMCA, but this just feels like recess for the kids. I wont be signing up for these types of programs again
It's just such an average experience. Neither very good or very bad.
Friendly staff, met some great people and made friends!
The reason for the 8 mark and not a 10 is the inconsistency of the pool temperature. It is extremely uncomfortable to have to go into a cold pool when it’s supposed to be “heated”.
This is a wonderful venue for making friends while working out.
My instructors are awesome
My daughter loves her swim lessons, but the class fills up very quickly. I wish there are some more weekend classes available.
It depends on the age. Younger kids yes, but once they are a little older it can be boring
My sons level 2 instructor is amazing- tall fella in the pink shirt with glasses has really encouraged my son to be brave and my son is super receptive to him. My daughters? Level 2, Let’s them free play after 20 minutes and minimally engages the kids. My kid just gets dragged through the water and has not developed much in her skills. Level one is a mix of either capable coaches or baby coaches. Variation makes it hard to predict success.
The staff are friendly and helpful. I enjoy the pool, Tai Chi classes, and weights.
Because everyone who works there is so kind and friendly! The instructors are amazing especially Ashley who teaches chair yoga!
I've been swimming laps at the Y for several months. I am a distance swimmer and paid close attention to the schedule. But I found that on any given day, the lap lanes would be used by folks who can't swim, or I'd be asked to move to accommodate people with special needs, right in the middle of a set. It was frustrating and very often I was with those same swimmers who don't know how to share a lane. On the upside, the Y was a godsend these past months because I've been training for an open water swim and needed to get time almost daily in the water. But I wonder if you could modify the "lap" schedule a bit so that athletes and dedicated lap swimmers could actually lap swim at given times, and that folks who want to recreate or just float, could have a different time. There were a lot of people going into my lane, or kicking me in the leg or arm.
