The pool was intimate and not overwhelmingly loud like other pools we have used for swim lessons. My child had way for fun than other swim lessons which helps them feel safe in the water. It's also affordable, which is the main reason we chose the Y. At first we avoided it because we thought it would be too crowded, but it surprised us and exceeded our other experiences. We are so grateful for such a positive experience & option we can afford for water safety.
We previously tried lessons 3 years ago through to City of Lacey and have being doing lessons at the YMCA since February of 2026 and have been so happy. It's been such a positive experience at the Y - thank you!
The level 4 instructor is difficult for my child to adapt to. All of the other instructors give individual encouragement, but the level 4 instructor holds back, making my child want to remain in level 3.
Nice facility with comfortable atmosphere. I would appreciate it if you could change the bathroom hand soaps to a non-scented type as I am allergic to fragrances. Thanks
I really wish Briggs had a dry sauna room. I split my time between Briggs for swimming and Plum St for sauna sessions.
Excellent!! Welcoming!! 🥰😍🌟☀️🤩
I felt welcomed in and immediately found the water class I was in need of for my bone on bone knee. The joints in motion class is doing wonders for my mental health and showing me that there is still something I can do despite my pain.
I just joined and everyone has been very welcoming!
Convenient location, friendly staff, wide variety of equipment and classes for every age and fitness level.
My daughter and her friend are joining.
Friendly staff; variety of offerings
I have been disappointed at the lost opportunities for the Y to walk-out it's mission...from the front entrance (lack of greeting/smile to ALL folks who enter, a greeting upon exit...all are opportunities to strengthen your bond with your members and exhibit your mission in action) Missed opportunities cannot be regained. Your very confusing enrollment matrix...go on a mobile and try to join as a senior and see what you get:( Again, a missed opportunity to start things off on a "welcoming and clear note". Your staff seem exhibit a lack of uniform training on front desk interactions (just a guess) and should model their ongoing training. Kayla does stand out as an exception to the disappointing front desk protocols. She makes a excellent effort and is engaging! Thank you, Kayla.
Please don't call me about this, I have accepted that this is what the Y Briggs is going to perform and have seen it repeat month after month...it is your decision to implement expectations that your "walk your talk". Motivation for staying is location is convenient.
Hooks to hang diaper bags, duffel bags, or towels in the family changing area.
The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. I liked the free orientation with a trainer. The gyms are well maintained.
It's frustrating being a member and consistently being unable to obtain a space in class. It would also be helpful when possible to have students stay with consistent instructors to support student progress, foster positive relationships, and help students have foundation of trust especially in the water to challenge themselves and try new things.
Work with instructors on engagement. Some aren’t as engaged as others, some end class early or only give the kids 1 jump at the end. Open more classes.
Some swim instructor are more experienced than others and it does reflect when the kids are in the swim class. The younger instructor seems to not want to be there or don’t have too much patience with the kids.
Mermaid was just so amazing. Our grandson was hesitant to put his head underwater. By the time Mermaid was through giving him confidence, He was not only going underwater for 15 seconds at a time, he was retrieving items off of the bottom of the pool.
Loved 2 of the 3 teachers great atmosphere overall
I just love it there
The metrics for each swim level are clear, the instructors are hands on with teaching kids the right techniques (especially John) and my children's swimming skills have noticeably progressed and they have become such strong swimmers. I also appreciate the conversations the instructors have with the kids about water safety.
I was a member there with my children when I was approached about applying to be a swim teacher. They said that I could have my kids in kid zone while I worked. That sounded amazing as a board stay at home mom. Then about 9 months in they changed the rules where I couldn't have my kids in play care longer than the 90 min mark. That was fine. I just started to sign my kids up for activities while I teaching. Then about 18 months in They told me I could no longer park in the parking lot that i had to park on the street with my 2 small children. I was told this was for "Members only". I tried to explain that mt children are both developmentally delayed, I was told by management that no exceptions could be made. Mind you I am still paying for my family's membership / activities that takes up about 90% of what I made at the YMCA in the first place. This is just so sad for a company who brags about being a place where everyone belongs.
variety of classes
Great coaches and families were fun and eager to have kids learn but also have fun
More assertive swim instructors
