The windows seem very good, time will tell. The installation was mostly good, our windows look great and the caulking around them looks very professional. However, the caulking job around the patio door was a bit sloppy, actually looks pretty bad. The new windows were left dirty after install and even had caulk smeared on them in the center of several windows. Clean up was so so, lots of sharp metal scraps left in the landscaped area and some in the yard.

Good luck trying to schedule an appointment for an estimate if you and your spouse work opposite shifts. They won’t schedule anything unless both people are home for the entire time. This made it very difficult to schedule our estimate as I had to work it around both my and my husband’s work schedule and our son’s extracurriculars. I should’ve walked away at the beginning, but I’ve heard good things so I made it work. The sales person was friendly. The person who came to measure the windows was also friendly. When our windows came in, someone called on a Tuesday to schedule the installation and when I told her my husband was off on Mondays, she said I couldn’t schedule for the following week or I would be charged a warehousing fee and wanted me to schedule the installation for the very next day. This did not give us enough time to make accommodations with work, but I scheduled it for that Thursday as I felt like I had to or get charged. I was really annoyed by this because not many people can just request off work with such little notice. I was given a 12-2pm arrival time. Thursday at 2pm comes and no one has called me or shown up yet so I called the customer service line. I was told the installers were in traffic and would be there soon. Another hour goes by, I call back at 310. I am told again they are in traffic and will be there soon. I ask why no one has communicated with me and am told they will talk to the installers about that. 4pm comes and still no one is at my home. I get a call from the installer saying now their truck is broken down. I call customer service again, now for a 3rd time and am told I will now need to reschedule my appointment. I understand things happen, but the communication is garbage and I have a hard time believing they were in traffic for several hours AND their truck broke down and no one was notified until I called. The operations manager was supposed to call me the next day. She did not. I had to call her on Monday and I honestly believe that had I not, I wouldn’t have heard from her at all. They have a no show fee in their contract that if I miss my arrival, I have to pay a fee. I asked if that applies to them not showing up too. I was told they do not compensate for missed time. Ultimately my windows were installed on the rescheduled day, during the agreed upon arrival period, but I probably will not use this company again as their schedulers are rude and pushy and management is unresponsive and unwilling to help. We have an estimate for our basement, but that project will probably go to another company. I’m sure I can get just as nice of windows without the hassle.

Sales Rep and Measurer stated that north window above Front Porch Slate Roof would not be a problem because window can be installed completely from the inside. I assumed this to be true because two years ago, when I bought 7 windows, the same assertion was made upon my inquiry of a south window facing my sunroom roof. The installers November 26, 2024 did not install my north window above the Front Door Slate Roof because they wanted to climb on the Slate Roof. They leaned their ladder against my Slate Roof wherein I saw this and said they cannot do this. I contacted Universal by phone and Universal said Yes This they understand. As a result the North facing window was not installed. (Only the south window WAS installed). The workmen informed me that they do lower level windows and sometimes upper level windows. The workmen recommended we Reschedule the North Window Installation with a team of workmen in the Universal Co workforce who have much more experience with upper level windows. Communication between Universal, the Nov 26 workers and myself appeared to be in agreement of this decision. I wrote this decision which was recommended to me by the Nov 26 workmen on the exit papers with my signature and date. I have yet to be contacted by Universal St Louis office for scheduling this. I have the office voicemail, and talked to the office directly, and as the paperwork (which I photographed). I am glad Universal respects my Slate Roof and I expect they will contact me to schedule the installation of the North Window immediately following the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend.
just on the installers I would highly recommend universal windows to everybody. they are extremely will trained, polite, quick. I had some windows installed last year and the rest this year so I delt with 2 sets of installers and they were great.

The installers were great. Except, had too much to do in a day and finished in the dark, leaving glass, nails, debris as well as smeared windows.

Damaged windows installed, windows for entire house (same windows) do not match (atrium stacked locations that are also different sizes due to incorrect measurements). Damaged existing siding, decking, stamped concrete patio during installation, patio sliders incorrectly installed creating an extreme threshold and also high point top which makes them difficult to slide open because they are basically racked, front single window installed on an angle and not centered in opening, front double window install pushed to exterior of house (2" beyond the exterior wood trim), late in the day the installer could not figure out how to trim it so they added vinyl trim which looks horrible and is embarrassing as the front face of our home. Will definitely leak. We have waited since July for Universal to correct this issue. We have to initiate the calls and as of 25 Oct 2024 we still have no idea on a full scope of work for corrective actions, as to how and what they are going to do to correct all these issues. They have are aware and in agreement and have stated we will love our windows and doors when they are done. I no longer have faith that this will happen. We have been trying to be as patient as possible before posting a bad review....but this is beyond ridiculous at this point. We are holding up other scheduled renovations which now are going to push into the holidays and winter....exterior work that now will most likely go to next spring. Cannot express how disappointed that we have saved up so long to spend this kind of money for the result we currently have. This has been literally like a fly by night out of state contractor that just packed up and left us with horrible products, installation and damage. We are also still finding nails, sharp vinyl trim pieces and other random parts in our yard, stuck through the deck boards and on the patio, Damaged landscaping as well. Horrible Horrible Horrible.

Additional Comments - I am counting the days until we get out new windows and start saving Money on our Spire and Union Electric bills.
