It took three installs and five months to finally get my windows. My next project is more windows and a couple door and I will give UWD another chance. The people I was working with were very hard to get ahold of and they never called back. Very hard to make sure we were on the same page and I even told them that is all I ask is that we are all on the same page. But I love their windows and will continue business with them.
It has been a mess from start to finish starting when I reached out to get an estimate. I scheduled an estimate and a couple of days later they called and said they need to schedule an estimate when I already did that. I had the estimate and right before they were supposed to get here they called and said they needed to schedule an estimate when he was going to be here any minute. I kept getting calls to move forward to purchase the windows when I had already closed the deal. It seemed there was no communication on their end. That was the first red flag.
We had several quotes from local companies and really appreciated the experience with UWD. There was no high pressure or urgency pushed on us. Our sales rep was professional and kind. He helped us stick to our budget and allow us to make a decision we were comfortable with. Communication was very clear and the process from ordering to the installation was great. Overall a really good experience. Thank you!
The entire experience with Universal Windows went well. Everyone was responsive to all of our questions and concerns and the installers did a great job. A crew of three showed up at 8:00 on the nose and were done with 18 windows by 1:00. The only hitch we had was that a small seal was missing from the windows that was supposed to be put on at the factory. They came out and fixed this promptly to our satisfaction.
Great windows, got everything done in a day, and good cleanup afterwards.
I had my windows installed October 3 and as of December 10 they still have not come back to resolve some issues that were promised by a manger that stopped out October 4. He said “ these issues were Unacceptable”. Customer service is a circus runaround.
Can not get hold of them no one is in the office They need to take a window off my bill as it wasn't what they said it would be, now they won't answer their phone.
The windows look good so far. It's only been about a week though, so I haven't had them long enough to really give a meaningful review of them. The reason for the lower rating is because of the price of the windows. Unfortunately the company does not have up front pricing with one fixed rate for their windows. I was quoted multiple different amounts before saying I would buy windows. Since then, I have been told by multiple contractors that I was ripped off. It's unfortunate that the company does this to make money off of their customers rather than just having a set price which would allow their customers to feel as if they are not getting ripped off. The lack of up front pricing and feeling of over paying so that a salesman or someone within the company could make an extra buck off of the windows I bought has overshadowed any positives in working with this company. I will not be returning to universal windows direct for the remaining windows that need replaced within my home.
The windows are nice and the guy who sold us the windows are nice. However, during installation of the windows, one of the windows cracked. We were told that the window would be marked for a new one and that they would get one in a few weeks later. After talking to the office after a week later, they had no knowledge of the cracked window and had to order a new one for us. So pay close attention to the installers, they can be liers. However, the windows as a whole are nice. It wouldn’t be so bad but the window that is cracked is the master bedroom and it’s cold in that room now every night considering that it’s basically winter.
I would give a 5 star and a better rating but when the company placed the order for my windows they forgot to order one. Was promised 4 to 6 weeks 9 weeks later I got my windows minus 1. Still waiting for my last window.
The entire process, from first visit thru install was very professional, easy, and thorough.
I had an appointment for installation of the windows for a Saturday. I did understand that it was tentative on someone signing up to work on Saturday. I never received any communication from the office that no one signed up and would need to reschedule the installation. I did however, receive 3 confirmation email for the date and time scheduled. I even received an email to confirm the appointment on the day before. I was out of town and returned early to specifically have this done. But, alas no one showed up and still no one called me about it. I did call the office 3 times on Saturday with no return calls. I spoke with an operator who left a message for the office, transferred me another time and I left a message. I was also forwarded to another customer service voicemail and left a message. I did get a call the following Monday. I expressed my displeasure, request a refund, or discuss further payment discount. I was told it would get sent to the manager. It has been 5 days since that conversation and still no response. I realize it is a holiday week, so you could have told me the manager was on vacation. I'm ok with that. I'm not ok with the customer service and lack of communication at this point. If this is what happens before the product is even installed, what type of service can we expect afterwards. Our decision to go with Universal Windows Direct was made easy. There was no pressure to sign anything "that day", we were assured our BOGO price would be good if we decided to go that direction. They held true to their word after a months time. We noticed a difference within minutes of new windows being installed. There is no longer a light breeze throughout the house and we don't hear outside noises like we did before. The gentlemen that installed the windows showed up at 9:30 and ready to go. As one window was removed, the other followed by installation. They were very professional, efficient and cleaned any debris as the worked. Universal Windows Direct was the only company that did not charge extra to have our external window black to appease our associations rule on NO WHITE windows, but we have white on the inside just as we wanted. They are absolutely beautiful and I am so looking forward to enjoying a warm house this winter. "We love our windows"
It was ok. Nothing special or outstanding. Same quality and pricing as other competitors I would say. Have some accountability issues on the sales process and with some follow up that was promised and hasn't come through as of yet. (Two weeks post project completion as of this review). This leads to some feelings of un-met commitments in the sales process with this situation being THE reason I picked this vendor. (Not on the part of my actual sales person. Thought Derrick did a nice job). But, disappointment on that level as could lead to sense of manipulation to get the sale on a one-call close.
Installer was over three hours late, and did not know how to install the seal outside due to my house being stucco. However, they made sure that they sent someone the next day. The original installer broke the old window sill and when it was replaced it did not match, so the installer who came to put that in made sure he stained one to match.
A neighbor commented on how beautiful the house looks after the job. We highly recommend Universal Windows Direct to her.
I am so happy with my new windows and door. The Team that installed my project was professional and walked me through the process making sure any questions were answered and I was satisfied. I had no worries the day of installation and everything was left neat and clean. I would recommend Universal Windows Direct for anyone looking for new windows or doors.

These guys replaced some really old windows in this house and we're already noticing a difference. The crew was very friendly and did a great job. Highly recommend and looking forward to a winter with awesome windows!
The wrong grinds were placed in one of my windows and bugs entered my home through the poorly made screens. When brought to universal attention they took their time to make the changes.. Needless to say we are unhappy with the company.
No complaints with the window quality. Time will tell if there is an energy savings this winter. Would have much rather had a straight forward sales pitch rather than the whole runaround that seems to be standard.Install crew was nice and polite, but left a lot to be desired for the final finished product. There was broken glass left on our floor, marks on the trim and side of the window opening that I was told "just throw some paint on it" and one of the larger windows we got doesn't lock evenly (like it's crooked).For as much as the windows cost, I expected a lot more from the company.
It is very expensive but the quality and warranty are good and I was very happy with the installation crew for the siding. However, my install was greatly delayed from the quoted time and no one called to let me know why or what was going on, I had to call, twice, on the siding. Then, the gutter install was delayed, multiple times for various reasons. I have to say the foreman of the gutter installation crew was very friendly and apologetic when I finally got to talk to him, but the gutters still haven't been installed and it's been over a week since the siding was finished and we've had 2 very heavy rains in the meantime. I have mixed feelings because it appears your workers are the best part of the experience.
Jennifer was awesome to work with! The installers came in and installed 6 windows in on 3 hours! They were very professional and got the job done quickly! Would absolutely recommend Universal. My neighbors are getting windows now. So do I get a referral? ????
