Several design items would prevent me from recommending: 1. carpet in the living room where dirt and mud will be tracked in from the back door.2. carpet in the hallway leading from the garage same story .3. single switch in bedroom (no ceiling fan wiring) 4. no built in blind on rear door
Hi, first I love my new home! HOWEVER, there are some quality issues I'm concerned about:
-The cracks in the concrete in the garage that I notified you about during the walkthrough have gotten worse and I'm concerned it may affect the foundation of the actually home at some point
-The backyard is still lumpy. They added what looks like sand in a few of the crevices but it's still lumpy
-A/C unit makes a dripping sound and air does not flow as cool in the smaller bedrooms
-A/C shutter noise in the mornings. I'm not up at the same time every morning, but there have been quite a few mornings where the A/C makes this weird sound like it's breaking
-There's actual mud under my kitchen counter and dust under the counter where the drawers are
-There are visible nails sticking out of some of the closet shelves and other visible damage
-None of the doors, closet shelves, clothes rods, or stair railings have a finish and are very rough and jagged; the wood on some of the doors are visibly chipped
-The primary bathroom door hinge is cracked
-The light switch cover in one of the bedrooms is cracked
-2 of my doorknobs have already fallen off and another is loose
-The floor chipped immediately from a chair
-The guest bathroom is kind of small and was not designed with an ideal place to put a toilet tissue holder or towel bar
-There's a slight slope coming out of one of the bedrooms
-Paint splotches/splatters and caulk drippings throughout, cracks in paint
-Paint is very cheap and when anything touches the wall, it makes a mark
-Inside of the dryer was dirty
-I didn't think the slanted driveway would be too much of an issue but it is rather annoying and seems unnecessary
-The washing machine is either very cheap or broken as it makes clunking noises when changing cycles
-This utility box in front of my house is not installed correctly and the gaping hole is still exposed
-There was a tree being placed directly in front of the back gate so it would not open, but they moved it after I addressed it
-The lawn guys are great, but sometimes the wood chips pop and hit the window / cars
Everything was good and the sales team was good to work with.
The representative was friendly, and Starlight Homes is a good company.
I would recommend them to a friend because of their outstanding service.
The sales person was very friendly and helpful. The construction manager patiently answered all of our questions and resolved issues (identified during home inspection) promptly and delivered the home on time. All of this made the entire home buying experience very pleasant.
I don't know enough about Starlight Homes at this time to rate or comment on the recommendation.
Starlight Homes were completely unwilling to help out on some items that were completely in their power to do so. Example, due to bank needing more time, they still billed 500.00 per day going over closing date. Total cost: 1,000.00. Could have easily mitigated this fee as there was no loss or cost involved in the 2 day late closing. Other example. Was told I could have the Land Survey Report free of charge, but later claimed there was misunderstanding and made to pay for it.
From start to finish, we were apprehensive because it is our first home, and we were waiting for the other shoe to drop. It did not happen because everyone was up front and honest about the process. It was a lot less and very hassle-free. Furthermore, it was just really straight forward, more so than what I thought buying a home would be and from what I heard from others.
The sales people are incompetent. Warranty is a joke. Construction quality is poor. No matter how many times talked to management they don’t care. I am investor and realtor bought 25 homes over the course of two years. The quality is getting worse with time
I purchased two houses from Starlight Homes. From the experience I have, the people I encountered are nice, understanding and responsive.
The quality of the materials are very durable. They are superior materials. Starlight didn't try to push us into something over our budget. They made sure we were able to afford and get what we wanted.
We still have pending repairs that were found prior to signing that have not been completed and Jason Miner is now ignoring my texts about those very simple repairs.
Starlight made the whole purchase process stress free by providing in-house acess to all services from financing to closing.
I closed on March 31, and it is August 1, and I had a reoccurring issue with the ceiling and walls. They reached out 3 weeks ago when they brought out an engineer to look at the issue and I have not heard back. I am about ready to give the home back to them due to so many issues. I am not able to move in downstairs, I had to move in on the upstairs floor. I would have purchased an older home if I knew what I had to o through.
Decent house for the price point
Jason Withworth has been amazing! So helpful with everything
It was straightforward. Morgan, Mason, and Paul were very helpful.
No so disappointed, Sewer backed up first day we moved in. Sprinkler head and rain sensor not installed correctly. Refrigerator doesn’t work properly. Warranty is terrible . A month before they fix anything
The home is built with cheap craftsmanship. The quality of the build seemed rushed. There are defects everywhere.
I bought three homes from Starlight and all three have problems. The build quality is very poor.
I feel some starlight goes the cheaper way instead of the best way for the customer- for example double sinks in the master bathroom we should at least get the option of them. They only have 1 . Carpet in some areas were they know people what the vinyl flooring throughout the main areas- more cabinets in the kitchen and the stove and microwave should vent outside.
They have great customer service from start to end. They walked us through it.
It was an amazing experience. They helped along the way all of the time. They never made me feel like I was bothering them. They made it as simple as can be as a first time home buyer.
The environment is so beautiful and calm
We are very thankful to Starlight Homes. Our home and the process were exactly what we expected.
The quality of the home, and the prices is cost effective
Starlight is the best.
The home buying process was easy from start to finish.
I am completely happy. I strongly recommend Starlight Homes. Their customer service is good, and they handle construction management. I am completely happy, and I would like to buy more through Starlight Homes.
Organized and professional agent . Mr. Ogletree made sure all my questions were answered and found the best deal for me.
I bought this as an investment property and am hearing concerns that there is lots of notoriety going on in the neighborhood and its not safe anymore.
I like Starlight Homes.
I really like that my questions still get attention even a month after my purchase. After my last new build purchase with a different company, I was ghosted and questions/problems went unanswered.
Steven was very helpful and welcoming from the get go.
House is laid out very well and has good quality craftsmanship
I am an investor and agent. I bought 3 homes myself with gateway parks starlight. Almost 15 homes to my clients. It was good quality of construction and sales 2 years ago . Last 6 months, I observed worst quality compared to other builder I deal with. I dealt with lennar, shorting, impression homes, first Texas homes as for investment properties and for my clients investments. Home owner warranty and construction crew being at its worst. Warranty , first of all they won’t respond properly. When we report issue they say something to avoid to stop by. I had couple of times to hire outside handyman even though it could have been fixed by warranty . We are talking about within a week of closing. Emergencies don’t even take as emergency and need approval from builder . Which is ridiculous. The builder / sales even said go use outside contractors. This happens within a month of purchase. The construction team is not even fixing the repairs found out by initial walkthroughs and 3rd party inspection reports instead saying they will be taken care by warranty and pushing us to close home asap. And warranty is a joke. The construction delays ( first of all they don’t even have enough time) causing stress on buyers . Since sales are not even bothered about it, and rushing buyers to close right next day the initial walkthroughs threatening penalties. It’s getting very unethical and unprofessional. I complained to C.P. of sales and manager. They say it’s not us it’s construction and not taking any responsibilities. The construction crew 2 years before was awesome, even the sales team. It makes me think management going cheap on everything.
Would definitely recommend Starlight! Quick and easy process. Wonderful team to work with from sales to construction to closing all around great people. Very satisfied with our starlight home!
Yes
I had some small issues that they took care of.
They had a good response time.
Blue tape walk was useless, we noticed hardly anything was dealt with. Cheap materials, wall paint is useless.
The home is well built, and easy to apply upgrades as needed. I love the wash/dryer appliances, they are neat, simply and very effective.
I would not advise my enemy to get a property with this builder, for the amount I paid you can get a better house with good quality not this cheap stake of a house . I really wished I can pull out. Very poor and cheap
Starlight Homes could be more competitive with repeat buyers.
I did some research on Starlight as a builder and found the reviews to be overall positive about the quality of the homes. My biggest complaint is the quality of the workmanship in building the homes.
The experience was not great, but not completely bad. There were promises made by the service desk, but they haven't reached back out after I have been calling them.
I like that they made it affordable for first time home buyers. I wish they could have made some adjustments in building the home such as a linen closet to put your sheets and towels in. I never lived in a house that didn’t have a linen closet or didn’t have some kind of window in the front of the house. I know builders try to cut corners so I’m sure your wife’s etc would have loved to have windows and a linen closet in a new home just saying.
Starlight Homes Dallas was professional from start to finish.
I want to say, I was a little uncomfortable with two things which is why I chose 4-star. The gutters and the fuse box outside the house, I would have preferred to have that differently. I wanted to have gutters; I didn't expect the home to come without the gutters. I found out everything when the house was completed. The fuse box allows people to mess with it, I know it has a lock, but you have to remember where the keys are. It would have been easier to have inside the garage.
