I would like the houses not built so close together. My daughter’s SD home in Kannapolis has a good 8ft between their house as do all the other homes in her neighborhood. It’s just one thing we had to come to terms with when we bought in this development.

The new home specialist Mike Carlos is professional and responsive. The construction manager is not good enough : not flexible at all for scheduling time for home orientation and final walkthrough. She promised to provide photos for the roof issues found during orientation and never sent out.

I appreciate Smith Douglas Homes as a builder. They provide affordable housing at a good quality, but at the same time there are a few small things that I would be intentional to go through and look at on my walk through. They have a warranty that helps and have been good about it.

If a homeowner cares about details, SDH is not the builder. The workers, painters, etc., are not skilled and it is apparent to the eye. SDH will say it’s cosmetic but as a homeowner I don’t want a home with cosmetic flaws.

These are mass produced homes that offer some opportunity to customize. The houses are not cookie cutter in that there's enough variety in the neighborhood. I do not like the centralized mailboxes; however, I do like the sidewalks throughout the neighborhood.
