After only being in our home for one month, the ceiling in the living room has waves and looks like it is sagging in.

Most everything. My only problem is with the large step up on the edge of the concrete going into the garage from the driveway and my garage floor is covered from one end to the other with cracks. It makes me wonder how long it will be stable. I have never seen so many cracks and I have had 5 other homes built. The stability of a floor is of the utmost importance. I have not known who to talk to about this.

The whole process was horrible from beginning to end. The craftsmanship is poor. My yard looks like a 5th grader placed the sod. One giant uneven clump after another. Back porch crumbling. Sunlight shining through the side garage wall. Toilet leaning sideways. Doors won’t close without force. Sagging floors.

They are the best company I worked with and they are very honest and direct people I love the them couldn’t ask for better!!

The process of selecting floor plan and options to building a new home was easy.

These are mass produced homes that offer some opportunity to customize. The houses are not cookie cutter in that there's enough variety in the neighborhood. I do not like the centralized mailboxes; however, I do like the sidewalks throughout the neighborhood.

As far as recommending Smith Douglas Homes - Alabama, I do recommend them, because when it comes to the square footage of the home, one does get their money's worth. As far as those who build the home, I do not recommend them.

The entire process was smooth and everything stayed on schedule. The team members I worked with throughly explained every step of the process and my new home is everything I wanted it to be.

My closing date was pushed back over 5 months due to repeated errors by Smith Douglas’ builders. I was routinely given blatantly false information throughout the process.

Richard Sluznis went out of his way to assure my wife and I that Ponderosa would be beneficial for us both. My wife has mobility issues and the fact that Smith Douglas would put in ramps (concrete!!) and had large doorways and a tool in shower was an answer to prayer

My experience with Smith Douglas Homes was good at first, but the elevation that I chose, I was told, couldn't be the same as the house next to mine, although my house was two houses apart from the one with the same elevation. Then, a house in front of mine popped up months later with the same elevation as the one directly next to it. I feel as if I did not get what I wanted.

I liked the amenities that was given and the floor plans. The quality of the build and the professionalism of the seller and the builder was professional.

Smith-Douglas provided exactly what we expected, perhaps a little more. Many people say they build homes. We disagree. Contractors build houses. It is our family that makes it a home. We make it our happy place. It’s important to share that we got precisely what we ordered. The communication was very good. SD listened and always addressed us respectfully. There is no product and no service that is perfect. Will we have to tweak things? Yes. Will we discover errors and flaws? Yes. The home is what you make and the love you share with the people in your life ~ that is what matters. We are very happy with our choice to purchase a structure from SD. We can’t wait to have many wonderful moments, meet neighbors, and enjoy our home.

After putting the earnest money down, we were constantly informed by the staff on the progress during construction. We also appreciate walk through during the building phase.
